While it’s kinda “Captain Obvious”, Kotaku has a post up this morning about the next installment of Assassin’s Creed which delivers a a few small quotes from Ubisoft creative director Patrice Desilets and series lead writer Corey May gathered during this week’s DICE Summit out in Vegas. Basically, the duo kept reassuring Kotaku that the next installment of Assassin’s Creed would offer a full single player campaign that “won’t be boring” while also offering the franchise’s first foray into multiplayer, of which Desilets said the mode will have “narritive justification.” It seems that there’s some concern on behalf of fans that the turnaround between AC2 and AC3 might be too soon, but Desilets also added that the lengthy AC2 development included a full year dedicated to getting the game’s tech fully in place, but now that it is, AC3 can be worked on much more swiftly.
Assassin’s Creed III, expected to be released in March 2011, is being developed up at Ubisoft Montreal. We’ll keep you posted on any new details as they emerge.

I belive IGN confirmed a month or so ago that this game would not be Assassin’s Creed 3 but a continuation of Assassins Creed 2. Like a story of what happened to Ezio after he fuond the vualt of those who came before.
The Assassin’s Creed offical forum really had a lot of not-so-nice comments when we first found out about it.
Either way I am loioking forward to this, Assassin’s Creed is one of my absolute favorite franchises (unless you count the handheld, those where horrible)
Sweet! Then we’re looking at a December 2011 release? Should be epic. This will either be Victorian Assassins or (in my opinion) kickass modern makeover using the original Splinter Cell Conviction retooled engine from the first videos we ever saw of it. Remember those? That game was made using the original Assassin’s Creed engine. I think a game like that would be akin strangling George Lucas’s fat ass to death. Who of us doesn’t want that?
