With all of the AAA Blockbusters coming down the pipe, it’s funny how I find myself often being the most intrigued by Indie titles that possess a ton of potential. Such is the case with A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda, an action-packed side-scroller coming to PC and XBLA later this year from Extend Studio.

The game puts you in the shoes (or boots rather…) of a technologically advanced robot, tasked with ridding the universe of electronic waste, while recycling and making the most out of what is readily available. While its futuristic fiction, the game’s story is somewhat about pollution, global warming, and the effects of ignoring such relevant issues in the real world.

In addition to its sweet-ass art style and rockin’ soundtrack, the game boasts massive boss fights, a “recycle” system for collecting enemy parts and turning them into usable items, and, as you can see from the trailer, excellently crafted 3D environments.

Personally, I’m pretty darn impressed, but I encourage you to check out the trailer above for yourself. visit the game’s official website, and let us know if you too find A.R.E.S. to be worth collecting when it’s released later this year.
