Can anyone in the US confirm if the Demo is up and running in the network?
I’m getting worried that Canadians may get the “usual” treatment with this kind of “regional” stuff even though we are neighbor countries.
I downloaded it last night and the “fast and easy” quickmatch finder was searching for a game for over ten minuets. It still dosn’t work this morning so i’m not to excited for it at the moment. ThePixelsAreDrinkingAgain….Quote
Ya the quickmatch system was terrible but i heard that the game is gona actually have dedicated so idk. And it seems that it has like one server and steam chat doesnt work well atm with this game cause if u have friends u all have to be in a group to talk and if yall are seperated then your voice chat wont work for the steam version. And for somereason there is a mic feature that is on 24/7 when u get into a server and there is no way to mute it and its a voice enabled only so its just a spam of loud noises. So i just really hope they fix this by the time the game comes out Amp21Quote
Well it’s past 11:30AM Pacific, and there still no Demo on the Canadian PSN.

Are really SEGA and PSN not going to release the demo over here?
Awesome demo. I really enjoyed the gameplay but i found it annoying you couldn’t compete as teams instead of free for all mode. Defanitly gonna pick this up!

I have been lurking around for information, and seems that the Demo for PSN is going to be added at 6pm Pacific.
I’ll get back at you to confirm.
Cheers

Checked the demo out, made me lazer cannon my pre-order. InexplicableXiuQuote
They took put in a crappy quick match setting to replace dedicated servers, you cant choose from unique classes anymore, so you have to find your guns instead, and really nerfed the predator. I was a huge fan of the first two games, but this feels like one big disappointment. I will give the demo another go in a few minutes, but right now im pretty disappointed SSullyQuote
They patched the quick match thing and I finally got to play this afternoon and its… Fun. From playing other multiplayers (UT3, Crysis Wars) when there’s only three people in a match, you always get killed by the OTHER guy and that’s how AVP is(cause there’s three distinct classes). you fight a predator and the the two of you get finished of by one marine, you fight another alien and the both of get sliced up by a predator. you get a stealth kill and then someone gets a stealth kill on you and then someone else stealth kills him and it becomes a conga line of stealth killing. All in all it’s an average but different killfest, fun, but it dosn’t make me want to buy the game day 1. Just gave it a quick play on each class, I found it to be a lot of fun, but it doesn’t seem like the multiplayer will have much lasting appeal. it was pretty awesome to use predator vision and the laser cannon, gameplay was pretty balanced, the fatalities were badass, and each class felt unique. the only real complaint I have is that it’s tough to negotiate all the walls as an alien. Like I said though I feel like I got my fix with the demo and the singleplayer might be cool but I don’t see the multiplayer being enough for me to purchase, but overall it is well done. Well, as for now all I can say that the game has a lovely front end, I liked playing in the menus. Because apart from that the matchmaking on PS3 is still complete BS which doesn’t really group you with other people. No option to be the host doesn’t help either. NickerQuote
Not impressed at all with this demo, what a bummer. I waited the whole day with high hopes, but I just didn’t feel they were fulfilled in the least minimum.
Don’t get me wrong, the game feels good, but the demo being “Free For All” just killed it for me. It’s incredibly frustrating to try to learn a game on the get go when you can’t anything before someone just kills you from behind.
If anything, Rebellion should have released a demo with Team Death Match, I’m sure that would have helped a lot of people who are not that hard core into FPS’s.
The Demo isn’t crappy, nor the graphics, nor the gameplay, it’s just the Game Mode they decided to release it with.
On a side note, I didn’t know PSN had so many 14 year old kids with Blue tooth mics, gosh, those high pitched voices killed the experience even further. I wish there was an option to turn that stuff off as in the Lost Planet 2 Demo. RaisinsQuote
Not impressed with the demo. They screwed it up by coming out with the 8 player shooting fest and the game has it’s f#$%# up.
Fist off the marines can’t jump or they are simple too dam stupid to figure how to climb on stuff too.
Second the alien is like a god dam snail. Really slow at movement. And can get killed easy.
Third is the predator. He has cameo and like what 3 weapons and of course has the heal injector. After 10+ years of this game and this is the best they can come out with?
Seriously I don’t think this is the same team that made the old one. I just hope the god dam campaign is better in the long run because the multi-player was not impressive at all. And this should be bought up in the gauntlet and let the guys talk over this one. I am sure one of them did play the old one.
Over all the demo sucks in 8 player. The graphics are all there nice work the sound could be better. The map was not impressive. The only thing that stood out was there was some graphic work done on it. And that about summons up the demo. Not worth downloading if you did not get it yet. Hope the end result will be better. I spent 2x 20 minutes waiting for quick match to find me a match. So I didn’t get to play it at all. karasuQuote
The demo is INSANE !!! Trully I haD To wait for 10 min or so to start the game but once it starts … man oh man … CRAZYNESS !!! SummonerQuote
To look at it from a simple perspective, this game is catered to fans of the first 2 games, and in that respect it seems they opted to change as little as possible from the feel of the game save for a few new mechanics (platform jump for predator, etc) and upgrading the graphics, so it was to be expected.
I do however think they made a mistake with the release of this particular demo in that the mode they show isn’t the best. Also, I did notice it took long to find a match as well and when u were in it lagged quite bit. All in all though, I had fun with it, again mostly coz I was a fan of the old games. I’ll most likely pick this up and I recommend it to anyone whos a fan of the series, otherwise I would recommend picking it up as a rental. webnurvQuote
Not impressed slowwwwww game is slowwww AngelTheKingQuote
Yeah that sux for you guys that have had connection probs, thats just a pitty.. hmmm…. oh well i think it was Rainbow 6 LasVegas that got as much demo time as this AvP demo is getting from me.. sooo yep kinda new here .. just wanted to say im getting a shit load of practice and cant wait to destory all that speak of AvP in the next two weeks.. mmmmm acidy metal RedZOMBIEpooQuote
I don’t understand why people think this game is so slow, when you’re sprinting with the predator or alien you’re movin really damn fast. Specially the alien that thing’s a rocket.
I’ve loving the demo so far it seems really balanced if you know how to play each class. I’ve been able to own an been owned by all three classes. Can’t say i have a favorite but the marine in particular is fun, specially when you block some alien or preds light attack, knock them on their ass with the rifle melee and proceed to feed them a face full of pulse ammo.
So awesome..can’t wait for this game. audiosnagQuote
