With just about a month to go before BioWare finally unleashes its new RPG Dragon Age: Origins on the masses, the storied developer has announced a few interesting side items to get folks pumped up for the game’s release. First, BioWare, EA and IDW Publishing have announced the upcoming Dragon Age comic book which will be written by acclaimed author Orson Scott Card (Ender’s Game, Ultimate Iron Man) with covers by “super artist” Humberto Ramos (Crimson, Runaways Vol. 3). The comics have not yet been dated. Secondly, fans looking to dive into the DA:O universe a bit early can get a head start via the recently announced Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator. The Character Creator, which is available for download to your PC, will allow you to create numerous different characters before launch and experiment with the different classes, races, and create multiple faces for the 6 Origin stories and save them to your hard drive for safe keeping until the game is released. The Character Creator launches on October 13, about two weeks before the game’s November 4 release.
Lastly, BioWare will be launching an open beta of the new social community site for DA:O. You will be able to log into the new Social community site with your existing BioWare forums account name and password, and update it to the new social site account. Characters created with the Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator can also be uploaded to your account from within the Character Creator.
All of this sounds pretty sweet. Now, let’s just hope the game is good.
