MY battle cry is to gamestop. Why do they continue to put out release dates to games they obviosly dont know what the release date is. Like for exalple splinter cell conviction ( wich i assume is still in developement) the told me that the release date was july 24 of 2009. IM pretty sure that is not the actual release date. they just seem to make up release dates all of the time to get you to preorder a game that might never come out.
My epic battlecry for the week is..rumors are spreading over the internet specially on websites where videogames are concern that sony and microsoft are planning not totally immitate but release a motion sensing controller in the upcoming E3..and rumors that MS is more likely gonna introduce a full body motion which sounds kinda odd..coz for me hardcore gamers are lazy in a way and escape the real world harshness lolz..and once you play games you just want to enjoy and sit and play the games..and immitating this idea from wii is such a crap for the two company..but yet if it is gonna be possible. i do think Sony and MS will not excel on this feature because they’re 2 big market are america and europe..which obesity is the number one problem lolz ouch!..it will sell in japan i think because theyre slim to skinny..so they can take full enjoyment of the motion sense controllers.. so for me it is still a rumor but please dont..i swear i will kill myself 3 times..if that happens.
Been following the show for a month now and I kinda follow it by now like I follow any tv-show, so thanks for keeping my late nights busy.
Anyways, I’ve been thinking of posting a battlecry here for a while, but havent been annoyed enough to actually do it until now.
The actual battlecry is aimed towards companies that make services like Steam and that little box where you rent games from any console and stream them, forgot the name there sorry. I really hope consumers start using these things to a greater extent, so that the suits of the music/movie-industry and the people from the pre-gaming generation understand that restricting and applying new laws is not the way to go.
My battle cry is "Where has all the local multi-player?" with the exception of fighting, sports and music games it seems that local (split-screen in some cases) multi-player is slowly becoming a thing of the past. Back in the day the PC was the exclusively single player platform, and the video game consoles were all about hanging out and shooting or racing your friends. These days online play seems to be the name of the game. No problem with that, but when you pick up an awesome racing game like Grid, and can’t wait to race your buddies only to find that there’s no split screen multi-player, well it just kinds sucks. Many games could benefit from this feature, but I find it becoming more and more scarce. What’s up with that?
I was actually gonna post a similar battle cry to mudbuddah, so I will just add this. What happened to LAN support? Its dying off, and while online gaming is great, sometimes I would like to play some great PC titles with people I actually know, and being in the same room gives a great experience. Blizzard has in fact stated that there will be no LAN in Diablo 3 (because they are afraid of "item-duping", which is odd because the game is nowhere near out yet) which is a little dis-heartening considering how great Diablo 2 was for that purpose. Left4Dead is another example. That game was made for a great LAN party. But sadly, Valve cares not. It just seems like developers are discouraging gamers from actual socialization.
And players are supporting this, not caring when local multiplayer is missing, But, however, when a game has local multiplayer but no real online support, people piss themselves (see: Terminator).
Keep it up guys, best gaming show on the net!
Keep it up
My battle cry is to the consoles(not the portables),becouse they kill gaming slowly with there exlusivity .Why can’t there be one conslole like the PC ,where all the games would come out ,and then the war won’t be between stupid consoles and would be between Game disigners and that will result in awsome games wich everyone can play.If someday this wonder happens that will be the golden age of gaming.
My Battle Cry this week goes out to Stardock Corporation. This is the company who’s very first publication was Sins of a Solar Empire, and now it’s second as of a couple weeks ago is Demigod. I’ve been playing Demigod all week, and it’s really amazing.
Back in the day, I used to play the popular Defense of the Ancients mod for Warcraft III. This mod was the shit – there was nothing else out there like it. It was the ‘counterstrike’ of Warcraft… unfortunately it didn’t share the type of success that CS had, but come on – what other mod has that type of success?
But it’s just nice to see an independent publisher start to make games for the PC that really kick some ass. I think that people keep thinking that the ‘PC is a dead console’ because they are just making bullshit ports and single player shooters, and expecting success. This is a game that could ONLY be played on a PC because of it’s unique design and control scheme – same with Sins of a Solar Empire.
I really hope to see more great PC titles come from Stardock in the upcoming years, and I really hope that other publishers take note of their success.
Sweedish you guys :/. C’mon, I didnt have that bad grammar did I? Oh well, another great episode. All out for Steam, brilliant service and without it, PC gaming would die a painful death.
sweedish…….more UK.

I was hoping that you guys can start putting your video podcasts on Itunes aswell. At the moment there is only you guys talking, but I would love to have the video aswell
My (swecond) Battle Cry this week, goes out to unknown developers. Names like EA, Ubisoft, Insomniac, we probably all know and love, but it’s sometimes the great games we love, we dont know who made them. We give credit to the game for being good, and not the devlopers.
Thanks for picking my battle cry this week btw, i feel so special!

My Epic Battle Cry goes out to Valve, not for their fantastic games or terrific steam service.. but to their DLC. Valve seems to be one of the few developers still out there that constantly keeps releasing DLC for their games and all for FREE. For PC DLC has always been free and probably always will be, i just cant understand why consoles should be different.. Some games have tried with paid DLC even on the PC (The Maw was the latest i can remember) and failed miserably, and most developers just release some rush DLC for 5 bucks to earn some extra cash.. Its already a lot of money to spend 60 bucks on a brand new game and to pay 5 extra bucks for often 3-5 hours of content when, face it.. most games these days are just 10~ or so hours. Props to Valve (and other developers that release their DLC for free) for doing this despise almost every single developer these days do paid DLC, I will NEVER sell a Valve game in the future, because i know how much love and care they give to their customers, that is the way to stop customers from selling games to Gamestop, not pushing rush DLC’s for 5 bucks.
Oh, and great show as usual guys, keep it up!
Atwa
This is my first Epic Battle Cry and it has to go out to companys that are basiclly just sitting on excellent games and just dont seem to grab the opportunity like Atari and the Hogs of War game a very awesome game for the PS 1 and PC and they apperantly had a sequel planned but it might be cancled according to wikipedia , and the unbelivably fun and more overlooked game called Team buddies …in general games that are obviously extremem fun , have a great concept or simply great gameplay and these companys apperantly dont see values in very good game concepts ,ammount of fun ect ect which could make alot of money .A very good example would have to be Capcom and the Bionic commando remakes.
(and sorry if my english isnt good cause im from a small country in Europe …oh and keep up the awesome show guys )
MY battle cry of the week goes out to the oldschool games. Ive recently been on Gametrailers.com and saw the debut trailer for star trek D.A.C. and i thought it looked like a fun oringinal arcade party game. When i read the comments everyone was complaining that they should have better graphics and that they should have made another movie based game that would probably fail like most. I just think people should learn to like things that are more simple and easy to pick up and enjoy.
My battlecry is less of a battlecry and more of a question I would like the people of the Epic Battle Axe community to think about. If you were asked by Satoru Iwata, the CEO of Nintendo, about whether the next Nintendo home console should revolve around the gimmick of motion controls again or whether it should head back to its original roots and stick with a regular controler, what would your answer be and why?
Personally I think that if Nintendo were to include motion controls into its next console, they should be for only the occasional motion controled game and for backwards compatability (but what are the chances of that?). Nintendo’s controls should go back to the "more buttons, less waggle" style of gameplay. If the lastest generations of kids are so brain-dead that they can’t figure out that "A" is jump and "B" is attack and not some sort of spastic movement of your arms, then we are already heading down a slippery slope.
My battle cry if for all the fighting games having cheap @$$ bosses, you know who you are (looks at seth from sf4) I mean having a boss that has amazing technique is one thing but the whole knock you into the air and juggle you for 4 mins is a little ridiculous, its not skill it’s just cheap, you often result to cheap tactics just to win. s it to much to ask for a boss that has technique not throw 15 fireballs, 360 pile drive. boss that dose more damage than a normal character or even a few unblockabale would be acceptable but in most cases there dosen’t seem to be any down side to the all powerful attacks that some of them have, you cant sidestep, block or counter you just have to sit there and take you whooping until you can retaliate but wait they juggle you for 15 mins and your dead before you hit the ground> I am happy that a new tekken is on the horizon it seems to be an acception to the rule that bosses are extremely cheap…well at least not as cheap as some other bosses (looks at seth again) I could always manage a victory with my better characters but struggle with the lame ones that are just terrible (looks at mokujin) or a challenge to to be pro at or just funny (yes that’s you dan…) the point I make is that I hope that fighting games learn to be more skill based rather than cheap juggle combo bastards (insert cheap character name for any fighting game here____)
I don´t really have a battle cry, just wanna say that I´ve been following your show ever since it started, !And You Guys Kick Ass!
My epic battle cry is to Monster Hunter 3. One of my friends introduced me to MH2 on the PS2 in North America. Man that game is ADDICTING! My roommates used to make fun of us for ‘cooking our meat’ to that little diddy. I was so sad the day MH2 servers closed down. It was such a fun game, and trying to get to HL 20 was the best. Fighting those huge dinosaur monsters gave such a satisfaction, man I cannot wait till MH3 comes out for North America. I would however, like to scold capcom for 1.) monthly fee for online play in MH3 and 2.) not going cross platform.
My Battle Cry is about the sheer amount of sh*t gamers put up with. As I sit here looking at my broken 360, my constantly updating PS3, and my constantly sucking Wii, I can’t help but feel a slight ting of anger. We gamers pump billions into this industry every year and yet we’re consistently dealt a steamy load all over our supple faces. Delays. Lies upon lies. Under developed products. Glitches/crashes. (Fallout 3 DLC, anyone?) Rising prices. Add-ons. Casual games. Explosive diarrhea. The list goes on. And yet we put up with it, and seemingly the only repercussion for these bloated companies is flaming on message boards. Gaming is crack, and crack sells, and the pushers of our crack are jacking up the price for an impure drug. Gamers need to start talking with their wallets, stop being masochists, and find a new drug in the meantime.
I’m gonna’ go inject heroine into my c*ck and forget about how much life sucks.
Schooled.
my battle cry is the fact there is no forth game any more!!!
guitar hero 4? No, world tour instead!!!
Halo 4? No, ODST!!!!
and now no fallout 4, but fallout: new vegas!!!!
even far back with warcraft 3 to world od warcraft, is this a trend in the industry that some IPs just dont lik,e to take?
My battle cry is for flash games on the Internet. They are all a game needs in a nutshell, addictive fun and most of the time, completely original. I love occasionally going online after playing some L4D and thinking, I might just search for a really good flash game and find one so addicting I cant put it down (metaphorically). They offer quick pass times and are fun to play so I am vouching for online games! – auditorium.com
Another great podacst this weeks guys! Never looked back after the first episode, you rock!
Hey guys, you’re doing a great job with these podcasts. I’ve seen them featured on Gametrailers for several weeks now, but never listened long enough to get the full jist of the show. Having listened to a couple already, I have to say that you give Invisible Walls a run for their money. It’s entertaining, funny, and the segments are well named. I also appreciate the news feed you have on the side when starting a new segment, so we get to see what you’re going to talk about.
Being here already, I guess I’ll join the battle cry fun. My battle cry goes out to Bethesda and the trouble they are having with their DLC getting to work on the xbox 360 and PC. It seems that these guys just can’t catch a break even with their latest DLC, Broken Steel. And it’s unfortunate, too, simply because we know that it is a quality product, but the way the product has been received has been marred by its post-release problems. Here’s hoping they sort out all those problems, so that we can focus on the game itself and not the loading screen.
My Battle Cry of the week goes out to Sony for having the balls to design the PS3 as it is: that high tech machine full of expensive hardware AND features really focused on the most important aspect of the gaming industry itself: the GAMER! For explanation: I live in Germany (which is in Europe by the way) and we have very strict laws concerning violence here. Some games are being cut to almost unplayability by the developers themselves to meet these laws like "The Darkness", others don´t get published at all or taken off the shelves after a few days like "Left4Dead" (*oops* even that word isn´t allowed to be used in publications like gamer´s magazines any more) and the german PSStore doesn´t have any content rated 16+. BUT: GAMERS OF THE WORLD UNITE! My PS3 is region free! And I have online for free too, which results in me playing uncut imports with my buddies from all over the world and downloading the hottest demo from the japanese PSStore (RE5)!
I´m not even mentioning the eye-catching gimmicks like Blu-Ray, triple A exclusives and superb reliability and this isn´t about fanboyism in any way, I´ve been to a console war before (BigN vs. SEGA) and didn´t care, but thanks Sony for NOT coming up with some half baked, cusomer-ripping pile of cheap ass hardware junk. After all: the Playstation2 still is pretty much alive even nowadays (Odin´s Sphere etc.), where in earth has the old Box gone? Perhaps it´s hiding somewhere, too ashamed to come out.
In your face, Bill Gates!
My Battle Cry this week is about Guitar Hero Rock Band and other specific peripheral dependent rythm games. My real problem is that they never offer anything new except mabey a couple tracks in each itteration and an added feature and UI revamp…all to be trashed 6-8 months later for the new itteration in the series which comes way to soon All of this is getting way to out of control to the point where everyone is trying to cash in on the product. Now dont get me wrong im not a hater I love Guitar Hero hell ive been in competitions for it (came in 3rd btw =]) but at this point where their making Rock Band LEGO! It seems their scraping the bottom of the barrel and they obviously need to take a break.
Hey guys, started listening to the show last month and now I’m hooked. I love how your show includes a healthy mix of true "news" and good ol’ discussion.
My BattleCry is about the annoyances of not knowing what features will be included in the future on a given product. This often makes buying expensive hardware really difficult. I bought a DS Lite and then proceeded to scour LA’s game stores in search of classic GBA title’s I’d miss. Now, a few months later, it seems the DSi will probably include DLC GBA games. I’m interested in buying a PS3, but I figure in the future they will release another model with backwards-compatability, so I’ll wait – what if I’m wrong, and that never happens. Imagine being a huge Beatles fan who just bought Guitar Hero WT for the Wii, only to learn now that you probably should have bought the RB equipment instead, now that the new Beatles game is coming out.
I know these things are a reality of an ever-evolving industry, but still – it’s annoying as heck.
My Battle cry is going to lazy developers. So this week we got the news that 3d Realms is shutting doors, leaving us with even more doubts about a future Duke Nukem game. It’s not like I was really really hyped about the game, but as a gamer who grew up playing Duke Nukem ,I was curious to actually see this game to say the least.
I call 3d Realms lazy developers (I can imagine them sitting in front of their computer all day watching pron while drinking some beer).
For me there’s 2 kinds of "lazy developers". The developers that spend years telling us they’re working on a game just like 3D Realms, and in the end they just ditch it almost with no explanation to the fans, or in some cases release a game that is just crap (Too Human anyone?). Where they are getting the money to fund the game for so much time? Why with all the money they don’t make a decent game? No idea…
The second type of "lazy developers" are the opposite. These are the ones that have everything to make a great game, but because of wanting to make some quick money or because they have a deadline made by some other company they release a game with bugs, serious gameplay issues, and a general lack of effort on the game. For example Wolverine game, it’s a really fun game, but it could be perfect if these developers worked a bit more on the game. The same as the new Fallout DLCs, Fallout alone is a great game, but you can see they are making and releasing the DLCs without testing them correctly.
Everyone should see the examples of games like Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Final Fantasy, GTA, Gran Turismo and all Blizzard games (Blizzard’s When it’s done FTW). They can take a while to be made, but in the end we know that the product will be a fun and well made game.
Keep up the awesome work guys! You guysare AWESOME! And thanks for keeping me busy every Sundays!
My BattleCry for this weeks goes out to the new Ghostbusters game that recieved Console exclusivity… ONLY IN EUROPE.
Apparently Atari passed the publisher rights to SONY and the result of that deal is that the game will only be released for te SONY Playstation 3 in Europe. This is essance is teh perfect way of screwing over all the European customers and making gamers pissed off. What the hell were they thinking? How is shutting out an entire console group of people exclusively in one region going to benefit the developer and publisher?! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!
P.S Swedish Metal Rulez0r D.S
This is my battlecry.
The PS3 sucks.
That is all.
My Epic Battle Cry goes out to the sudden waves of information regarding DJ Hero and Scratch and their turntable controllers.
Both of those games are like two babies trying to mimic their guitar fathers pumping out hundreds of millions of dollars every year, but instead of successfully mimicing them, they’re puking all over themselves in a lying down position.
Guitar Hero has been around for 4 measly years and it already has 14 games that are currently out for consoles, portable, and mobile systems. There are 5 more band / guitar-themed games currently scheduled for 2009, and with the inclusion of DJ Hero and Scratch, things are getting rediculous.
Music games nowadays is like milking a cow on top of a starving hobo…
If you milk it, they will come.
My (first) Battle Cry is about the mod Project Reality, there is a sh*t load of great mods out for lots of games but Project reality is in my opinion by far the best one. It’s realism mod for Battlefield 2 that combines some really awesome weapon and vehicle models with great maps and coding. The main focus is to slow down the gameplay and promote teamwork. So if you have a copy of Bf2 laying around you HAVE to try this mod out. A new release is coming out soon and could really need some publicity.
PS. Sorry for my horrible English but the Swedish schools suck.

My Battle Cry is about the Monster Hunter series like another here said, Capcom has just sh*t all over those of us outside of Japan who became fans of that game when it first released on the PS2. It started when they suddenly jumped to the PSP with it and kept churning out title after title for that with no nod to those of us on the PS2, then they gave us another kick to the balls by releasing a PC version and never bringing it anywhere outside of Japan. And here we are now with Capcom just dropping a big steaming load on older fans by making MH3 a Wii exclusive after building the series on PS2′s and PSP’s, when if they were smart they should’ve gone cross platform since most of their fanbase for the series is from the Sony camp. I’m sure a few MH fans went from the PS2 on to the Xbox and what have you with time, but thats just even more reason to go for Xbox 360′s, PS3′s, and Wii’s with what has been a unique game series.
My Battle Cry is the determination of "Six Days in Fujairah" by Koonami. As a former marine I understand why people is very uneasy about the game (the fact it’s a game) but more I read and looked into the game I think it’s great way to educated (Yes Educational) what happened in first person experience for young folks: what Military personals go through. telling them a boring war stories doesn’t work no more. Visual Experience better way to tell them we go through emotional and personal issues out there. I believe This game may have the same Impact as the movie Black Hawk Down, Flag of or Fathers, Great Raid, and Etc. They are Badass war emotional stories but It really did happen.
Astalano here, great show guys. If my battle cry is picked please put emphasis on the third a in my name.
My battle cry goes out to my most anticipated game, Prototype. I know it has been compared to a similar game called Infamous, but I’m not going to do the same here because they offer different experiences, Prototype being more about large scale destruction and Infamous being on a smaller scale, but better presentation. What I am glad to see is that Prototype is not making/has not made any compromises to gameplay and story. I know that nowadays, the trend is to make a game look good, THEN work on the gameplay and story. Far Cry 2 was an example of this. Although I liked the game personally, it did sacrifice gameplay for presentation. Kudos goes to Prototype for going all-out in its attempt to project hundreds of enemies on-screen and allow the sort of variety that I think an open world game needs (stealth gameplay, parkour and heavy combat), the ability to go on a very fulfilling rampage like in Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and a great story (although they haven’t revealed much since it IS a conspiracy, it seems well-thought out). While I know many graphics fanatics (I didn’t say whores
) rate the game down because of its graphics, ultimately, shouldn’t gameplay and narrative take precedence over the presentation in ANY game? Games like Megaman 9, Zelda: Ocarina of Time and of course, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction are a testament to this. So, in conclusion, should developers stop in their mad race to make graphics better, make no compromises and start creating better games?
Almost set to rival your next album DK (whenever it’ll come out), this has been Astalano, over and out.
