Sound the charge and break their lines, its time for a new EpicBattleCry! E3 is over and we’re still trying to process all the amazing games that were shown off this year. In this week’s skirmish we put Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony under the knife and see who put three E’s in awesome (language is a fluid thing, just roll with it).
Next up we talk games; what scored big, what took us by surprise, and what we’d kill to have in our hands right this second. The Battle Cry of the week goes to welcoming back E3, the original Metal Gear Solid coming to PSN, and OnLive’s conspicuous absence from gaming’s biggest event of the year.
Don’t forget to leave your thoughts below and each week, we’ll pick a new comment to become the next Member Battle Cry! Stay sharp and we’ll see you next week.

My Battle Cry goes to all the annual gaming shows that exist. Like E3, GDC, Leipzig etc ,and they always bring us some great announcements. Without those gaming shows gaming industry just wouldn’t be we all know and love today.
PS. I wish I could go see some gaming show
My Battle Cry goes out to…
The evil conspirators, keeping the irrefutable awesomeness of ‘Battlefield : Bad Company 2′ (and 1943) out of the limelight this past E3.
The 3 minutes of gameplay montage, that came out of the IGN interview, just blew my freakin’ mind. How does a game that outstanding not get more coverage? It can only be a conspiracy! In the name of ‘Sweet mother russia’, share the fucking wealth! You should all be viraly enthused and spread it around like a fucking fever.
Seriously! Give ‘Battlefield : Bad Company 2′ the shoutout it deserves!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peG0IdIHgNY
Check out the BF : BC 2 montage. This is the DEFINITE multiplayer experience of 2010. Where’s the hype? I call you out! Foul! Shannanigans! Bollocks!
CONSPIRACY!
Missed the ‘Contents Bar’ you guys generally use
I want a new STARFOX!!!
My battle cry goes to the release date differences between regions of the world, i see no point in releasing the exact same or a little altered game 3 months behind the US release date!
This is my first time posting a comment here, and it’s more meant as a comment to the podcast rather than an actual Battle Cry.
As a straight female, I obviously don’t belong in what many companies consider their target group. I’m interested in the same games you guys are interested in (many of which were mentioned in the podcast), I’m NOT interested in crappy pinky girl games companies want me to play.
So can they please get rid of this idea of everything-pink-women-will-buy and of the put-an-under-dressed-girl-in-the-game-and-all-the-teenage-boys-will-buy. It’s offensive and derogatory, to both genders. Is it (for some companies) so hard, just to make a great game and let it sell based on what a great game it is? Without having the need to include under dressed women (especially compared to the men) or all shades of pink with horses.
Besides booth babes and such, E3 was pretty good with many interesting games shown to look forward to. It’s indeed a good year to be a gamer
.
Two disappointments:
No mention of The Last Guardian.
No mention of Scribblenauts.
Otherwise, great episode.
In other news, hells yes Uncharted 2 beta.
There’s so many games we didn’t have time to cover, this year’s E3 was that good. Last Guardian is looking tight tho, no doubt.
In other news; Layne Meyer, once proud champion, now a study in moppishness
ok so this is my first battle cry and it goes to the last guardian i really think more people should check that out also check out there previus work cause they really do some amzing work and they pritty much nailed everything they tried to do in previus games and there new title looks really cool with the bound between you the character and the “eagle” thing like with argo in shadow of the colossuss
hope you understood that not specially good at english
My battlecry goes out to the PC Gamers who need some love.
Many games that are released for consoles and PC have the PC release of the game as late as six months and sometimes a full year or more after the original console release. At a point when all hype and excitement for the game has died down. And so unless you were really stoked about the title, you might even not realise it is out for the venerable PC.
It makes no sense that PC titles are released so much later, (At least by third party publishers who don’t need to ship consoles) because all console games are developed on computers, so it isn’t like they can’t run on them.
The publishers need to give some love back to the PC Gamers and have the PC version release coincide or at least be a lot closer to the console release. I am sure it would help boost sales as a whole.
p.s. If you can’t pronounce my name, call me Bob.
As lame as this is going to seem, they’ve had enough of an impact to where I feel the need to say something.
My Battle Cry goes to Tony, Daniel, and Brent. Since discovering EBA through GameTrailers a little more than two months ago and listening to a Skirmish, I’ve been listening to/watching the old ones while anticipating the new ones.
Going through what is probably one the worst periods of my life, there’s not much I’m able to get any sort of happiness out of. Listening to you guys talk about the gaming world while playfully bashing each other is one of the few things that can make me laugh and forget about everything.
So, thank you. Keep doing what you’re doing.
One last note: Skirmishes 1-18 aren’t working since upgrading the site.
My Battle Cry:
This is the worst time ever to be a gamer and heres the reason why.
There is about 13 games I want to atleast play once. How am I suppose to pay for all that? :p
Prototype
Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Tmnt: Turtles in Time remake
Batman: Arkam Asylum
Uncharted 2
Tekken 6
Dragon Age: Origins
Alpha Protocol (might be good)
Modern Warefare 2
Assassin’s Creed 2
Dead Rising 2
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Mafia 2
There are probably some I’ve forgotn and there are some handheld games I would like too play + some wii games.
I got 360 and ps3 and there is no way I’m buying more things just so that I can enjoy games.
I’ve already gotn a RE5 and Infamous as new games this year and I’ve bought a couple of old onces because they where cheap and I wanted to try them, games like Dead Space witch was fucking amazing.
Srsly There is just no way I can buy all these games, I’m gonna have to make some though decisions but I already know 3 games I’m getting from until Q1 in 2010. Prototype, Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 the rest will just have to wait and see. There is just no way I can justify buying all the games I want to try out even if I could afford it. :p
My battlecry goes to Sony, because out of the big 3 it was the only one to focus more on showing games and less on showing unnecesary hardware and services, although it had it share of them.
My battlecry goes out to motion control. Despite what “hardcore” gamers say about it, for us gamers who are actually getting laid it’s fantastic because it allows our lovely ladies to experience video games without being intimidated by complicated controllers and control schemes. Kudos to the big 3 for helping nerds around the world get some much needed action!
My Battle Cry goes out to the gaming industry in general, which has failed to visualize the sublime potential in one very simple idea : a Batman video game based on the 60′s TV series starring Adam West. Am I the only sane individual who has been struck by this inspiration? Do I need to explain the urgency of this argument? People, we need to demand the existence of this game; forget the non-polluting flying car, this is the next big thing. Let your voice be heard, we want Adam West kicking ass with crazy colourful onomatopoeias splashing on the screen. We WILL riot, we will rise, yes, we are prepared to spill the blood of the geeky unbelievers… so get to work and make it happen.
p.s. I love yer show.
My Battle Cry goes out to…
Sony’s Magical Wand at E3 demo.
Man it was amazing to see it go live in the FPS mode. Just watching the demo made me forget about the Wii all together, imagine playing new Call of Duty game with nice HD graphics and TRUE 1 to 1 motion control in First person view… what you guys think?
My battle cry goes out to…
Superman. Superman is one of the most iconic characters in American literature (kind of) and it is an unforgivable crime that he has yet to be featured in a GOOD video game.
Since WB is pissing away the movie franchise, because the half billion dollars they made off of Superman Returns just wasn’t enough for them, they could at least put out a solid video game. Right now Wb is wasting the brand, in essence they are laying concrete over a gold mine.
How about Lego Batman, I was say that game took more inspiration from the show than from the comics.
My battle cry goes out to the dumbing down of bosses in videogames, bosses are meant to be challenging and prove that the player has skills but recently bosses have not been that hard or epic in anyway. Bosses should leave you with no health and making you think how awesome the fight was, this is partly due to obvious weak points and comments made about how to defeat bosses by partners such as sheva, so im hoping things go back to the old school way like Shadow of the Colossus.
Hey,
I read in the credits “3D artist: maybe someday”.
Well, I’m a 3D artist and a fan of epic battle cry. Maybe I could do something for you some day?
Hope to hear from you.
Not sure if this classifies as a BattleCry since it’s more of a suggestion, but here goes.
My Battle Cry goes out to…
Nintendo. What they should do is to remake GoldenEye (N64) for the Wii. Updated graphics, higher framerate and a shitload of unlockables.
With the wii controls and online gaming that game would make me wanna eat fish, and I fucking hate fish. In fact. Fuck the singleplayer mode. Just do multiplayer. Online, split screen or worst case bots and it would sell sensi’llions of copies.
No other console-shooter comes even close to the time i put down in the original game. Thats how Awesome it was!
With that said. I FUCKING HATE THE WII!!
Great show! Keep em rolling. Peace.
Once again great show guys….curious I can not find your show on gametrailers at all lately…..Daniel what is up with that man. I don’t mind going to your site guys but man it was easier to get on gametrailers. Keep up the humor and great dialogue.
Oh yeah, I understand, Ueda just hits my sweet spot and Scribblenauts was a complete surprise to me. Definitely a fantastic E3, I still haven’t caught up with some of these games.
And haha, didn’t think anyone would get the reference, fantastic.
My Battle Cry goes out to Heavy Rain, i think this game is going to do, or is trying to, bring gaming in a different, more serious and artistic direction, away from the countless number of shooters, like uncharted and modern warfare2, not there there not good games, but seriously i am blood tiered of shooters, at least only one that was announced had a space marine…oh wait three…freaking halo. Heavy Rain is in my mind the best game showed at E3 this year, and i think if any one wants gaming to get the attention and respect it deserves from the out side media games like Heavy Rain need attention, it doesn’t have to be your favorite or most anticipated game, but to not even mention it is just not cool. Sorry to ramble on like that, take my ranting for what it is, but this is the one game above all others that is going to make me buy a PS3 price drop or not.
-Cheers, love the show, Shadowknigt0 \m/
really…. i think i am probably the biggest batman nerd ever, as in i spent of $300 on Batman graphic novels this year alone and personally i think Adam West is the worst thing to EVER happen to Batman…ever
My battlecry goes out to the game-media.
Why aren’t anyone talking about Alan Wake?
It was the first time we saw gameplay from this MS exclusive and no one is talking about it. Epicbattleaxe, for example, didn’t even mention it in their podcast..
I’m not saying it was the best game on display, but it deserves a mention, at least.
Man I love you guys and I think you have the most entertaining videos to watch on the net. But I’m totally disappointed in you guys for not mentioning one of the best looking games at the show that takes a risk and tries to be different in ever game they make. How can you not talk about The Last Guardian?!?!?!?!?! And once again they become a diamond in the rough because of marquee titles like Halo,God of War, etc. I believe Team ICO are the one of few developers who make something that goes against modern trend and go towards the unknown making games that are beautiful in story and game play.
My BattleCry goes out to…
MAG and Zipper for trying something new with a console FPS.
I was a huge Battlefield fan for PC. I enjoyed the depth, strategy, and teamwork of the game. When Battlefield crossed over to the console, I was excited to play one of my favourite shooters on the PS3. This, however, grew to disappointment as I found out how “casual” they made the game. Without going into detail, they effectively castrated one of my favourite franchises and made it into a mediocre FPS. The upcoming 1943 appears to follow suite.
MAG seems to be going where Battlefield should have evolved too! The game promotes and rewards teamwork, strategy, and offers great gameplay mechanics. Don’t forget that there will be 256 players in a battle! Outrageously good stuff! I give Zipper respect for thinking outside the box and attempting something fresh, especially for a console FPS. I’m praying to god they don’t @#%! it up.
very nice show and i agree almost in everything, but nobody talked about the final fantasy XIV release exclusive to PS3 (also to PC, but they play in a different league), wich, with the almost sure pricecut this holidays, its going to move thousands of units in japan (see the poor FFXIII demo, and maybe burying the 360 there), and eventually somes units in the USA too, less in europe, were i live, so, this is my BattleCry
My Battle Cry goes out to the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility. While I am playing one of my many original xbox games on my 360 I decide to check what friends are on xbox live only to find that when I click the center button to pull up the dashboard, I get an error screen. One of my favorite things about xbox live is the dashboard and the party system and being able to pull it up on screen during a game and inviting a friend to chat, and to not be able to use this great feature that comes with the xbox live service is a real drag. I hope Microsoft will fix this problem (although I doubt they will) but that is just me. Also I am looking forward to Daniel’s new mix tape or cd or whatever he does because I see some real potential there.
I know how you guys feel about Capcom because I feel the same way, but my Battle Cry goes out to “good” DLC. Games like Fallout 3 that release episodic content at a good pace for a reasonably price. I wish more companies would release DLC like this we need more like these. Mass Effect did one but I WISH they did more I want to get as much out of a game as possible LittleBigPlanet I think is possibly the best because of the amount of content and how often it is. Basically all I’m trying to say is I wish developers would support their games and add good DLC. BTW i sold Resident Evil because of their horrible DLC lies.
My battlecry is a rare one of Praise, Despite what is said about Koei milking the dynasty warriors franchise to death and beyond the grave, they have been doing something amazing that we can all hope will be picked up by other Developers and Publishers, that is FREE DLC, Ok they are only ‘key size’ <200kb, but where some companies [EA] would charge you, sometimes extortionately, Koei have been letting you download for FREE!!!
3 Cheers for FREE, DLC!
Well Done Koei!
Shame on the rest of you for Over-Charging!
Whoops in the all the excitement of, actually seeing FREE DLC forgot to mention its for DW:Gundam II
THIS NEEDS ATTENTION:
My battlecry, is perhaps a few weeks late, but this is something that has to be said. Sucker Punch has released one of the best demos for a game ever. It’s not just the first mission of the game that ends in ten minutes, it’s four full missions, which allow you to have a small taste of everything in the game. The combat, both as good and evil, the exploring, because you are free to move almost anywhere and there are shards for you to collect, and some interesting story cutscenes. All in all, I have played this demo four times, and I just picked up the full game based solely on how good the demo was, game quality aside. Propps to Sucker Punch!
My battle cry goes out to Sony, and this little scam they have going on with the PS2.
With God of War 3 coming out soon, it’s only natural that people are going to want to play the old PS2 games, but since Sony is still trying to pimp the PS2 hard, they would rather make me spend an extra 100 dollars instead of going through the trouble of emulating it and selling it to me at 15-20 dollars like the PS1 classics.
Great show guys. Always love to watch.
My battle cry goes out to the sort of horrible situations that have been born in this generation. With Activision up in everyone’s biznas, studios going under, and the birth of fanboy extremists, it’s interesting to see how everything seems to keep going strong dispite that horrible shitballs are being tossed all around.
My Battle Cry goes out to…
Genre combination games, are probably the hardest type of game to make (besides click and point adventure games). However I have yet to see a good game that combines both FPS and RTS games. Imagine this, playing Starcraft as a marine in FPS while killing other zerg and protoss, while another player controls the base and its base building units. It could work both single player and multiplayer. It would be amazing and something that satisfies everyone.
I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
