Aim for the flat-top and throw it, its time for another Skirmish of EpicBattleCry! This week, we take a look at a couple pre-order exclusives for Halo 3: ODST and Madden NFL 10, explore the Shadow Moses island map for Metal Gear Online, and ponder the rumors of a Wii price cut.
First up on the main course, we examine Activision boss Bobby Kotick’s recent threats to stop supporting the PS3 if Sony doesn’t make like a tree and drop their prices. Next up, we go over Microsoft’s damage control effort in the wake of Steve Balmer’s “announcement” of a new Xbox Console.
The Battle Cry of the Week goes to Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Ghostbusters: The Video Game, the ongoing legal battle over Duke Nukem Forever (and the slim hope the game may get released), and rallies against the unfair European policies that affect gamers.
Be sure to leave your comments below and each week, we’ll pick a new one to become the next Member Battle Cry!

My EpicBattleCry goes to:
Ratchet and Clank, R&C games have been for years and in the latest titles they gave us some new features…,but at the core, the game always remains the same as the original…PURE FUN!!!!!
you can say what ever you want but they never gets repetitive aldo yes the game is basicly go to that planet, kill everyone, jump there jump here and gongradz!!!! you just got a new weapone….
to all of you who never plaied a R&C game shame on you!!!!
BTW: activision sucks ass! you know what, i own xbox360 and ps3(fuck the w!!) and if they will stop selling their games to ps3(which will cost them a lot of money but still..) i will never buy their games(xbox360 version) which is not that hard…why u ask?
ROCKBAND>guitar hero
BAD COMPANY 2>modern warfare 2(trust me, it will)
INFAMOUS>prototype
GOD OF WAR 3>X-Men Origins: Wolverine(do i really need to compare the two?)
AND SHELL I GO ON?!?!?!?!?!
I had a great idea watching todays epic show! Why can’t you guys put up some video equipment in the studio so we all can have a glance at what you are doing! Think about it, it’s really a win=win situation. You don’t have to edit as much content so the show can be longer (thus makes this show even more epic), and the fans don’t will be greatly satisfied with both the longer show, and your awesome faces!
Well well, wish you the best of luck guys!
In todays show, you mentioned that the new Halo game had the most stupid name of all time, and ODST is kinda retarded.
But then it hit me, it’s more than retarded. Bungie is actually soooo tired of their offspring Halo that they can’t be serious with the franchise anymore.
Halo 3 rhymes with ODST. Coincidence? I don’t think so. They are just out of good ideas, motivation, and to lazy to try something new, and that is why this new halo game will suck
HELLO FROM SWEDEN:)
My battlecry goes out to Bobby Kotick and his threat to Playstation. The only reason he did this is to make people buy Activisions peripheral based games for the PS3 which require you to buy the package and not the game only, IE Tony Hawk Ride and DJ Hero. Both of these games come out before Christmas, at around 120 each so thats 240 right there, and he want’s them to do well on every console and this pretty much is when everyone expects a PS3 price drop as well. I forgot about Band Hero as well, 200 for that, but at least you can only buy the game and not all this other stuff. There is only so much room in a livingroom for all these things. Get your kid a skateboard from Walmart and some protective shit so they don’t hurt themselves. I’m pretty sure that’s a hell of a lot cheaper than paying 120 for a peice of plastic and a game that will eventually break like all these other ones like Rockband and Guitar Hero.
MY Battle Cry goes out towards :
Unused potential
Basiclly unlike the ghostbusters game like you said they had lots of palces to mess up but they didnt and they deliverd on what they said , but alot of games dont seem to use the potential of their concept to create lots and lots of things….for instance games in which you can customize things it doesnt have to be like spore just give the players lots of options to choose from , or if its a crazy world such as the ones from the army men games , ive had discussions with a friend of mine (in terms of what they could have done with the army men world ) and we could have spawned a fun game from just purley comeing out with crazy but fun ideas simply because the games concept and world supports it easly .
All i am trying to say is that lots of studios dont seem to see the potential of their games have sometimes
But studios like Insomniac , Sucker punch , Radical entertainment (the guys who did prototype ) are currently some of the best examples for this .
My EpicBattleCry goes out to:
Game Clones and Every-Lasting Franchises.
I’m beginning to disagree with the whole reviewing system completely. Many people have their opinions on this topic, but I feel that franchises are getting in the way of other new IP’s and ideas. Series such as GTA, Halo, MGS and FF are being too looked after. For example, GTA 4 was given overwhelmingly positive reviews while other games such as Driver or True Crime are being called ‘GTA Clones’. GTA never invented Free Roam and not all developers look up at Rockstar. The same goes for Gears Of War, now every new game with a cover system seems to be called a ‘GoW Clone’. Again, cover systems have been around for years, but when it comes to Uncharted, no, it’s not a clone. It practically cloned Tomb Raider and nobody seemed to mention it! Don’t get me wrong, I love these games but I’m looking at both sides of the argument.
I feel that it is time to give other new ideas a try. Alan Wake, for example, looks amazing in terms of story, graphics and gameplay. But people are not giving it a chance anymore because they think it looks like Resident Evil. Loved RE5, but that franchise has died – move on. Same with Silent Hill – Alan Wake and Dead Space will continue the genre.
Duke Nukem was a popular franchise and even though its been 12 years, its still an ever lasting franchise. (I believe there’s still hope) I think this is how other ones will end up.
To finish, A franchise is being given to much attention at times and comparing it to a film franchise, it lasts a extended period of time! I disagree with many of GT’s videos lately such as their Best Of E3, even though, GT and EpicBattleCry are the Holy Gods of gaming.
I think its time to give these franchises a rest and and let new ideas in.
P.S. For the love of god, MGS has even ended! Another billion sequels and prequels have been announced. Proves my point! Another money making scheme!
And also, Brandon Jones, If your ever reading this, no offense or anything!
My Battlecry goes out to consoles! i think the worst thing that ever happened was when Microsft brought out the Xbox (no im not a PS3 fanboy cause all i own is the 360 and i would have said the same about the Playsation if Xbox was around before it) because why does there need to be two consoles that are almost the same, having two consoles has a bad effect on gamers like consoles having exclusives! thats madness! when you develope a game then it should be for EVREYONE! and if there was only console (either that be Playsation or Xbox! though Playsation did come first)then all developers would make all there games for the one console! exception for the Nintendo consoles as they appeal to a different market
MY battle cry for the week.
I believe this year is going to be a really big problem and here’s why.
Batman: Arkam Asylum
Dragon Age: Origins
Uncharted 2
Brutal Legend
Tekken 6
Turtles in Time Remake
Marvel VS Capcom 2
Modern Warefare 2
Assassin’s Creed 2
Left 4 Dead 2
Splinter Cell: C.
Dead Rising 2
Heavy Rain
Lost Planet 2
Alan Wake
The Crossing
Max Payne 3
Dark Void
Alpha Protocol
And there is probably more that I can’t remember on the go.
This is simpley to much for the short amount of space that their coming out, and I think the only games that will sell well is:
Modern Warefare 2 and, Assassin’s Creed 2. The others I havea no idea, and I’ve looked at next year and it’s not stopping.
And I’m not counting the wii games witch will sell like crazy. Lately I’ve been playing games like Dead Space,
Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction and Force Unleased. I knew they where Great/good/okey and I got them really cheap.
Do u believe that this is what will happnend to most of these games? Just wait until they get cheap because there are so many?
I’m kind of new around here so i don’t really understand how things work arund here… Today was the first time i heard about this “Member Battle Cry!” i usually stop the video right before it
And what i “saw” today really got to me… because I am from Europe (maybe you cand notice that from my writing
) And i really want to add to what was sad this: Some country’s from Europe (European Union, not the continent) don’t have acces to PSN/Xbox Live/And even if i have a Wii i have no idee what nintendo’s online service name is… it really can’t be because of piracy because even Rusia has those services(and as far as i know they are the “piracy leaders” – I don’t really have anything against that
). And people are mailing this companies for years (yup … years) and all they say (if they say anything) is that they will try to make it available as soon as posible… Online Petitions have been signed in different countries… but with no results… I hear everybody form USA/Japan wanting a price drop … but just think that some people in Europe pay even more money than in USA/Japan for games that don’t offer the same services as they do in other countryes… Exemple: I pay 60 (euros) for a game that I can’t play online, and in USA you pay 50 dollars for the same game (so it’s cheaper) and you also have the online service … We pay more for less content and you pay less for more content
… nice, isn’t it? :p And not to mention … how will i play MAG ?
) (not that i would want to …
). And they complain about the piracy …
We can’t do anything from here … they don’t lisen to us, but maybe you can do something… anything
PS. i really like what you guys are doing with you’re shows
Why two consoles ? Because of the competition… Just thing about it… If you have a product and everybody is buying it… would you change something to that product ? No you wouldn’t because you are making money and because changing something, making the product better, will just cost you some money(for technology/research/resources and others). Why to make you’re product better when people like it the way it is ?
But if there is competition… then the things are different. Why ? Because: Now not everyone will buy you’re product, maybe they will like the other better so you wil have to invest and make you’re product better than the other to have a bigger profit… actually that is one of the reasons why the industry/the world is constantly evolving and geting better
Look at the Nintendo Wii They are making crazy money because they have no competition… there is no other console with a motion controller so there is no competition and that is why the console is not evolving that much (look at the graphics … I simply hate them !) And because Microsoft and Sony saw how well Nintendo was doing they invested some money for creating something new and better than nintendo’s motion controller (sony did it… not sure about Microsoft, because i don’t know if it really works the way they say it it) so… soon (probably 2010/ late 2010) Nintendos salles will go down and it will be overrun by one or both the other consoles if they don’t to do something to improve the console
(that is my opinion… i am not an expert so i might be wrong… very wrong
)
My battle cry goes out to microsoft for paying billions of dollars to activision so they can stop making games for the awful ps3, now they can focus on the 360 and make more natal oriented games, how awesome would it be an on-rail shooter modern warfare 3, a no guitar guitar hero 6, a no skate board tony hawk ride,a no turntable dj hero, pure awesomeness.
We love so much microsoft!!!
That frog and pizza song in the beginning was funny as hell. Too bad I was drinking when that happened. XD
I seriously think Gamestop is not for the gamers. If people want to get the game so bad, theirs a marvelous tend out right now called, WAITING. It will come out soon but, if your that impatient well I don’t know what to say to you. Pre-ordering to get a demo or a lame code for a secret items not seeing in video games is pure sell out. When you wanted GOLDEN EYE (AKA best game ever) for the N64 back in August 1997, you WAITED.
P.S. Duke Nukem Forever stories don’t let up. It’s either it’s coming or its a JOKE!
[...] Viking Brent wrote an interesting post today onEpicBattleAxe » Blog Archive » EBC Skirmish 034: Get Your Hands <b>…</b>Here’s a quick excerpt [...]
Where the fuck in Europe does Akuma live? Ghostbusters on the 360 is available in Europe. I just went online and checked Amazon and other major retailers for several european countries. I knew I saw it at GAME the other day.
And yes, Europe does get screwed, but to be fair, Nintendo is the fucking worst for it. I could tear them a new one for having the worst Europe policies. With Sony it’s the pricing of the console. 300 pounds which is roughly 500 dollars.
But, Australia has it even worse…
Oh and my battle cry goes out to all the people hating on Prototype.
Why don’t you just shut up and have fun with it? At least that’s what I do. I enjoy being able to elbow drop the tank and then take down a hunter with my massive fists and then running from the rest by soaring over rooftops.
Just take that joy instead of bitching about the flaws.
I can honestly say, you are the biggest fanboy I’v seen in over a month. Congrats.
My battle cry goes out to two things.
First, Double-Fine gettin sued by Activision over Brutal Legend. Activision screwed themselves for givin up Brutal Legend to be picked up by another publisher, along with a load of other games, and this will just add insult to injury. THEY WON’T WIN.
The other is the petition over Left 4 Dead 2 by fans wanting in free. Please SHUT UP!!! You aren’t entitled to anything from developers. Valve made a smart choice to keep themselves open for a while longer in this economy, so deal with it.
My battlecry goes out to Nintendo
Nintendo and their first party games. don’t get me wrong, i LOVE Mario, Zelda, Metriod, Kid Icarus, Punch out!!, etc. however, ever since LoZ: wind waker, ALL of Nintendo’s first party games (save Super Mario sunshine but that never existed ) have been RIDICULOUSLY easy. super paper mario (Wii), LoZ:TP (GCN/Wii), Mario Galaxy (Wii), Phantom hourglass, the list goes on.
granted, i could just be getting better as a gamer, but i playeed Twilight princess with little to no challenge. however, i played Ocarina of Time for the first time right after completing TP, and i got genuinely “stuck” and it was leagues more challenging than TP. also, TP was very similar to OoT but that’s another battle cry.
in short, Nintendo, i know you are branching out to more people than ever before, including kids. However, mostly kids played your much harder classics when they first released and they still sold more than enough to warrant sequels. if you are going to dumb down your franchises, at least give us a choice in difficulty!
My battle cry goes out Milwaukee’s Best.
A brew that has gone for too long without the proper respect it deserves. This magnificent draft has not only satisfied my need to be incoherent on weekends and the occasional wasted wednesday or thirsty thursday, but has accomplished this mission for a reasonable price that has saved my collegiate pockets hundreds of dollars. What other liquid beverage would I want by my side as I trudge through Eastern Europe while trying to stop a nuclear attack on the western world, slay zombies in an African village, or even be a vigilant leader while protecting my Island as a blonde haired doll in the EPIC classic “Barbie as the Island Princess”. Yes gents, this is certainly an ode to the greatest urine tasting beer every brewed, because men should act like men, even when playing Barbie video games.
My battle cry goes out to Akuma!
For finaly getting this message through somewhere, I’m tired of getting screwed over. Things like US dollar == EURO price conversions are just stupid, the EURO is like 30% more expensive then the dollar.
Steam did this and is now the most expensive place to buy a game in europe. It’s digital distribution for crying out loud, shouldn’t it be cheaper?
They don’t drop the prices either (don’t know if they do in the US), I thought of buying modern warfare the other day and went on steam to see if I could right there and then. Turns out it was still full price, about 70$, it’s half that price in a normal store…
My battlecry goes out to Team Ico and their fantastic E3 Trailer of “The Last Guardian”
It’s not often these days that a trailer exhibits much in the way of emotion or style but your trailer truly showed heart. While I can’t say for sure how well the actual game plays you have inspired me to believe there is more to games these days then just, “Look I shot something!” Games have such the potential to show such amazing things particularly in this day and age. I hope this is only a precursor to the great things to come. More companies need to learn the aspects of drama and emotion. Most of the trailers shown went through the, “I can look cool too” school of cinematography.
If the game doesn’t follow suit to this possibly emotional powerhouse I guess I could always go back to playing generic death filled game #1122826287 and pretend I give half a shit about the missing wife while I cut a baddie in two.
and usually in europe the games cost more in euros than they do in dollars in us & asia. new games usually cost ~70euros (with current rates it’s little over 95dollars), as in US they’re like ~60dollars?
there actually was quite much talk when steam did this, but nothing happened. Gotta love the tax rates in here.
My battle cry goes out to the juggernaught of Sony and their new psp GO! and generally if there is any need for it?
With Nintendo already dominating the handheld market by quite a margin, was there any point in Sony trying to win back the handheld market as its going to be one huge ass uphill struggle which there never going to win!
Especially with the iphone/ipod touch as another competitor which is already performing better and has a much larger customer base already, could this prove to be the final nail in the coffin for Sony’s handheld department? Personally i think so!
Perhaps they should just accept there not going to make much ground with this new addition, especially for the price tag there asking for around EU249 /£150 without any new huge additions or improvements for it and just concentrate on the slowly rising ps3 which as you guys said is gaining a lot of momentum from some brilliant titles.
Head
FanboysSucksAss!!!!! is right(the guy who worte the 1st comment..) for every activision game, there is(or there will be) a better game out there….
gentelmen, thumb him up!!!!!!!
***OH AND FanboysSucksAss!!!!! , U ALSO FORGOT THIS!!!
SKATE(1 and 2)>any Tony Hawk game…..
I completely agree with the member battle cry from Akuma this week, I’m from Europe too and very much see your point. Thanks for your support, Tony, Daniel and Brent!!
You think Europe is screwed over? You people are pampered. I’m from Israel, we don’t have the Wii or the 360 and we need to IMPORT them privately as we do to all games if we want to pay something that isn’t double the euro price. We are region locked out of xbox live and the psn store and the consoles overheat in the flipping heat all the time. Special editions the europeans say? we can’t get them at all unless we want to sell a kidney since we have to pay for shipping by weight, and obviously when a console breaks down we have ZERO customer support.
I’d take the european situation and call it valhalla, when i die i hope to reincranate in europe and not in that hellhole where i live.
At least once a week I hear about how people think the PS3 needs a price drop and even though they do… I doubt they will before God of War 3, an obvious system seller, comes out.
my battle cry goes people behind games and how they suck. There are a lot of games made every year; so much so i would argue the gaming population is buying all the same titles. They target certain people and when a title sells they stay with it. In 10 years will there only be sequels? What big companies besides Sony are trying something new (uncharted, LBP, heavy rain)?
Present time this doesnt concern me at all, but thinking in the future….gaming as we know it could be a trend. This just a little bit on how so, and I would expand but im not trying to write a blog here.
My battlecry goes out to the thing I have in the Cayman Islands called Duty (like taxes except bigger rip off) that dude in Europe I feel you I have to pay up to 100 us dollars for one game, I am getting screwed over everytime I want a videogame, and for a ps3 80 gig they charge around 650 CI (750 US) and also if that 3D realms people got cash here I will find them (or at least try lol). It also goes out to getting a ps3 because they are actually worth getting now so I will have to save up and get one of those with God of War 3 and Gran Turismo 5 when those two games come out and hopefully more great games will come out in the furture but it would suck if Activision did stop making games for ps3 (although I do have a 360).
My battle cry goes out to all of you who are complaining about how your country is the one the gaming industry is screwing the most. Quit whining and live with it. The whole world is being scewed over by the gaming industry. The problem is not that they charge us to much for their product, it’s that consumers are stupid enough to pay 249,99 US$ for a fucking PSP-Go. So long as there is a sufficient amount of retarded gamers ready to pay these ridiculously high prices the game companies have no reason to sell cheaper products.
Instead of buying a game full price and then complaining online about how expensive it was, why don’t you wait a while befor buying a game so that the price can go down. I played Assassin’s Creed(FUCKING AWSOME!!!) on the XBox 360 for the first time last week and it cost me aprox. 20 CAN$. I honnestly can’t afford to pay full retail price for all my game so I wait a while for all the new game hype to die down and buy the game when it’s a fraction of it’s original price.
My battlecry goes out to exclusives. I completely disagree with the exclusivity of games. Being a 360 owner and seeing what Sony had at E3 you can guess why. I degress, exclusives hurt thr industry by making some games that could have been huge sellers more moderate. Developers and producers don’t achieve as much revenue. Also exclusives are just a way to get someone to buy your system and are virtually a crutch. Example, If there were no PS3 exclusives, why would you buy one when an xbox is cheaper has the same games and(based on my experience) tends to have better graphics for multi-platform games. Its understandable to have exclusives if the software requires very specific hardware, but outside of Wii games thats not an issue. Not everyone can get all three systems and so their left out on some really great games. Even though I own an Xbox and not a PS3 I admit that they have some very good titles coming out, but it pisses me off that i never got or will get(for the forseable future) to play God of War, Uncharted, Killzone, or Little Big Planet.
In reply to your user battlecry last week from Akuma.
Basically in Europe people get paid more and hence have a higher cost of living. Think about someone going to buy a house in Alabama and someone buying one in California. There is a huge price difference. Also consider the jobs they have. A starting firefighter in San Fransisco makes about 65,000$ a year but in Maryland it’s about 30,000$. In Europe someone who makes 30,000$ in the states would make about 30,000 euro instead. I don’t feel sorry for them paying more but I do think it sucks they don’t get all the goodies with the CE and LE’s.
My Epicbattle cry goes out to fanboys. There are so many duel console owners and people who think they are high and mighty for not starting and contributing to flame wars. This is like 20% of the fun I have. Arguing with mindless trolls about “ZOMG this game is 2% better on this console’ or “We have X cool exclusives while you have nothing” It’s not hurting anyone so why do all the elitests get so “Why can’t we all just be gamers”? The hate and trolling is part of the joy =D
well my battle cry would go out to The Conduit and the team at high voltage software because its an awesome shooter and its revolutionary for the wii
My battle axe is thrown at all the new controllers. Do we really want the Natal thing, i mean it may be good for few games but racing a car with bare hands doesnt beat racing with awesome wheel and all stuff with it..
PS3 dildo doesnt seem any better, its like a wii controller but still not that great (iThink)
Also the skateboard, some wii crap, dj hero turntable.
you see I think there is a different between third party exclusives and first party exclusives, that is what should make you buy the system you want, for example I have a ps3 because I like god of war, ratchet and clank, etc, and I do not like games like halo or gears of war which are 360 first party exclusives, the real problem in my opinion is when third party exclusives get in the way, for example splinter cell, gta lost and damned, which I would really love to play, but I cannot get them because microsoft paid millions of dollars so they can force you to buy their system(I’m getting a 360 next month).
I really wanted to know why haven’t you discussed about Final Fantasy XIV announcement on E3. I know it was a MMORPG and many don¿t like that about it and that the clip was really short, but it would be interesting whay you think about it.

It’s sad that The Counduit is the only good fps on Wii(rail shooters excluted). I mean the Wii remote allows you to aim your shots with the precision of a computer mouse so one would think of the Wii as a perfect fit for fps.
Now that a game developper has finally come up with an okay fps (The Counduit is great and all but it aint Halo or Modern Warfare) lets hope more quality fps will come to Wii.
My BattleCry goes out to Sonic Video games
I have to say that since the late 90′s i have been a huge Sonic the hedgehog fanboy but it seems to me that the people at sega want the death of our favorite blue animal. When the first 2d sonic games came out the franchise built up a huge following, but when they moved on to the 6th a and 7 generation consoles games it seems like each time less and less effort was put into making the game everything we love about the them has been reduced to a laughable mockery of the once great glory of these games. I just want the current people at Sonic Team realize what they are doing and help to be part of the solution and stop and think before they put out another
“Sonic and the Black Knight” or “Sonic Riders”
Hi this is my first post on EBA so id like to start of by saying that I really like the show and respect you guys for your opinions and for admitting when your being biased ^^ and for clarifying when you think you v been misunderstood (which seems to happen every once and a while).
Anyway my Battle Cry goes out to The Maturity of the gaming industry!
and by this I mean that the gaming industry has come a long way this past +30 years, I mean it used to be pretty simple. You bought a console and played games that came out for it without probably even knowing who made the game or what was going on behind the closed doors of the developers. Now a days games are about who made them, what download able content is there? who is developing games for who(first party exclusive/third party exclusive). Who put on the best show at a game expo? who has what kind of financial support, rumors of industrial espionage, exclusive development contracts corporate fusions and take overs…which drunken CEO just ranted of corporate secrets. You name it the game Industry has it going on, and has come a long way. I mean at this point the US game industry alone is worth about 10 billion dollars a year!
So here is to you gaming industry! congratulations on coming a long way
my battle cry go’s out to activision. they realy must have some squirrel sized balls to do that to sony.. cuz i mean come on they charge 200.00 for a freaking plastic guitar and drum set…. i could get a crap in a box for that! so i think when they charge the 80.00 or less its worth is when sony lowers the price of the ps3…
Hay, Potthead`s.
Can you tell my way there is more DLC and other goodis on the US marked, then the European marked? I got the chans to enter the US PSN and there was tons more than on the European PSN, and you guys also got movie`s to download.. Way is this.. is it the laws that grind shit to a holt, or is it just that they don`t bother(to expensive)??
Sorry for the bad English, I`m a Dyslexic Norwegian…
Oh, BTW… Grate Show!!
Peace
I was playing a Wii that I borrowed from a friend, so I could play Twilight Princess. While I was playing my dad walked in the room and started watching. At one point I used the slingshot to shoot down some spiders, and my dad flipped out. Just because I used the motion sensor to shoot something the Wii was automatically the coolest thing ever. Then he brought my mom in the room and made me shoot something again and she pretended to be interested and slipped away.
We had duck hunt when I was really little and he played it, but he was never as excited as he was by the Wii. Why do you think people are so drawn to the Wii? There is way more content on the PS3 and 360, but the Wii sells way more units. Do you think it’s the technology, price, or just a lucky attempt by nintendo to create some fad?
WOW! that sounds like a tv commercial, wait ’till your father sees natal,he won’t need you as a son anymore because he will play with milo.
We(Daniel Kayser and I) love you so much microsoft!!!!!!
Great show guys. LOOV it as always.
My battle cry goes out to all of the spoiled gamers out there that the HD console era has spawned. Everyone I know, bags on the new Red Faction game, and any other game they can, because they don’t have the graphical standard of the new Star Wars. I just played Red Faction, and I have never picked up a game and started laughing at how much fun I was having in a long time. I hope that every one of these stupid assfaces buys a game because of graphical beauty and is severely assboned by how bad it is. FOREVER.
Oops. I actually meant to say Star TREK.
My battle Cry:
After reading an article about the upcoming 2010 rpg game “Mars” being developed for the PS3 first before a port will make its way to the 360.
i suddenly realised that we are at a point with these 2 consoles where its pointless to even have 2 of them when barring exclusives ( through contract agreement not through technology) theres 0 point in having 2 products if all title will be on both platforms at some point.
back in the ps2 vs xbox days the difference more was clear, the hardware dictated it. You saw and played the difference in games because of difference in systems, some title did multi platform, but when the xbox hit.. what came with it was “new stuff” just as when the ps2 hit from the ps1.
now theres to much multi platform support to maximise profit , over really dedicating to one hardware and creating something new or something that cant be done on the rival product.
that was healthy and made great games. now.. its very difficult to why you would have one system over the other, when it comes to software and IPs.
lets make the PSX360 , may as well
My battle cry goes out to tutorials, yeah normally in games theres text say what to do but thats normally in the middle of action when you need to figure it out. Obviously older gamers know the controls to most games already because of the standard way some games are but what about the younger generations of gamers who don’t know how to play yet so tutorials should be put back in as a separate options like the old days.
Also i feel that this is connected to the easiness of games today because if theres less of a learning curb then theres no need for a tutorial.
My Battle cry this week goes out to the people in Good old gaming.
I love this website, and I reccommend everyone to check it out, especially people who loved their classic PC gaming. They are bringing back old PC classics and making them compatible with todays PC systems, all the games they are working on comes with the latest patches and extras. Games cost from being free to $9.99 US, and once you get the game you own it, no CD protection, no online activation, no need for registration, hell if you want to can “actually” share them to your mates.
As a fellow Glutinous Gamer, I highly reccommend everyone to check them out, and even just to sign up for the free games, you get fricken “Beneath a steel sky” for free man! One of the best Adventure games of all time.

Sonylover, thats great that you have enough to buy a 360. I don’t have the money to buy a PS3, maybe if they made a price cut, but since sony keeps it their systems the same price until literally no one buys it, that won’t happen soon. So just because i didn’t pay 600 means i have to suffer. Exclusives do help sell systems, but my battle cry was more about the consumer being forced to make a decision or spending hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars. In short, I should be alowed to play all those great games, not be forced into buying another system.
My BattleCry goes off to the game Demon Souls. Finally, a game that is insanely hard, one that punishes you for every wrong move and awards you for every good one. Since DMC3 I’ve been waiting for such a game, one that you feel good about yourself when you finish a level. Not a game. A level.
It’s really refreshing to see such a game now days when games basically hold your hand (the most extreme example of that being the latest Prince of Persia).
All the game footage looks crazy good, and I can’t wait for this game to show up in Europe.

Map Packs and Downloadable Content for Games:
I am an ex-professional gamer for Halo 1 and 2 and have been playing games competitively for a decade. I am getting really sick and tired of game developers releasing new content that is sub par and at times completely useless. This would be reasonable if this content was free, but no we have to pay for it. For example the Halo series, Call of Duty series, and Gears of War series are severly guilty of churning out sub par downloadable content. Another thing making this all to common problem worse is that with the new content it often gets integrated into the gametypes, thus forcing us to download this content in order to play the gametypes we enjoy.
Simply put these giant game companies that sell millions of dollars worth of software to us should offer this additional content free of charge seeing as how quite often these games cost around 70$ new.
Activision/Epic Games/Bungie, Man up and help out the peons making you guys rich and give us some free content that is worth spending our bandwidth on, Thankyou!
My epic battlecry goes to capcom for not releasing resident evil 5 on the pc yet. they started developing the game on pc to port it to the 360 and later ps3. I have later understood that many other developers does the same thing but i’m yet to find out who so this battlecry is specificly to capcom.

Fonts sizes and styles. Anyone that plays on a SD TV will tell you that most games have choppy, small, terrible fonts and are optimized mostly for HD TVs. This effects Menu’s and in-game texts. The worst game that comes to mind is Burnout Paradise, reading the street signs is impossible at times and is extremely frustrating.
All I’m asking is that developers & designers take the time to play on both HD and SD tvs large and small. One last thing the whole “Get an HD TV” arguement, not everyone can afford buying an HD TV especially with this economy not to mention I as a consumer will not spend that kind of money solely to fix a simple oversight.
P.S DK We going to see video podcasts on iTunes anytime soon?
You opened my eyes, I’m not going to get a 360 I’ll just upgrade my PC.
Thank you dude.
