Draw them into an L-shaped ambush and open fire, its time for another edition of EpicBattleCry! In this week’s skirmish we check the just-announced Mech Warrior game, laugh ourselves silly over Singularity being delayed to make way for Modern Warfare 2, discuss the news of a fourth and final installment for Command & Conquer, and check out the DLC that enhances (some would say fixes) the control scheme for Fight Night Round 4.
The, Eidos goes under the axe, as we examine the recent reports that they once again trying to fix review scores for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum, which leads to an even deeper discussion on game scores and whether or not they’re still relevant. Next, we open a galactic can of worms by evaluating the state of the Halo franchise and pondering whether it deserves its considerable accolades.
The Battle Cry of the Week, goes to Japan’s recently unveiled life-size Gundam model, Battlefield 1943, the ridiculous new Wii title Walk it Out, and reminisces about the good ‘ol days when buying a game meant that you received all the content for that game.
Remember to sound off below and each week, we’ll pick a new comment to become the next Member Battle Cry! Stay sharp my friends.

My battlecry goes out to pussies at Activision or Infinity Ward, frankly I don’t care, for putting the Call of Duty brand back on Modern Warfare 2. I thought it took some real balls to toss out that brand recognition so that they could separate themselves from Treyarch. Really disappointed. It is still going to rock.
Meh, my above battlecry will probably be mentioned in the vid, should have thought of that, why the heck does this site not have an edit function?
Why are games released in the fall. Don’t they know that summer starts in July? All the kids are out of school and parents don’t mind buying their kids games. When school starts….in July. Parents aren’t going to buy the games for the kids. At least mine never used to.
Second Why do you guys bleep stuff. You Demographic is definitely old enough to swear. Kids these days are swearing like mad anyways. Please don’t bleep, it takes away from the podcast effect.
my epic battle cry goes out to PS Home, first of all because i havent been in there for like, ever, but a quick visit last night saw me spending hours exploring and playing minigames wich was awesome, and secondly because europeans finally have something better than americans, let me explain, looking at random chatting it seemed consistently friendly, really nice talking to people, everyone’s happy, then i tried my american account to curse all the good spaces etc. they had that we dont (i live at oxford or stanford university, i just googled american address and took the first one xD) and going into uncharteds space the first conversation that hit me was “so cuz im dansing with a grl im a lez, tchyea right” “i know everyone thinks we’re like gay and stuff” followed by a male onlooker going “wanna ride my big black ****, you need some **** lezzies, i wanna taste your hot wet” well im sure you can imagine the rest.
Aah, its good to be region locked away from those douches, for once
my battle cry is to gamer community.
I saw a servy not long ago stating that circa 40% of gamers worldwide are female.
Yet Daniel still cant get laid xD
My battlecry this week goes out to Runes of Magic. It’s a free MMO and in my opinion, it’s about as good as a free MMO can get, like a WoW of free MMOs. This is because, of course, it copied WoW in so many aspects. But it doesn’t matter, because it does it so well. Runes of Magic successfully captures the best aspects of WoW: The quests, the story, the raids, the world, the continuously updating community; while incorporates enough new things to set itself apart: The ability to play two classes at once, the housing system. At the end of the day (this one’s for you, DK), it’s justt a blast to play, it’s fun, painless, intuitve, addictive, well-designed and it didn’t cost me a single penny. So if you haven’t signed up for it yet, the hell are you waiting for? You’re missing out on something that is about as close to a free WoW as it gets. See you online.
My epic battle cry goes out to you guys. You guys are just so fucking awesome. Seriously if one of you came up to my house I would bend down ofn both knees and do incredibly inappropriate things. Seriously, I am not joking. And now if you laughed or even smirked at this you HAVE TO mention me. Its the Law!!!! Oh and if you can’t tell I am laughing my ass off right now and would never do those things…
I would just call the cops
my epic battle cry goes out to the music game genre. When guitar hero first came out it was awesome and original, no one had thought to do a game like that. Fast forward several years later and it has become a bland old genre that is like madden , it gets a facelift and new songs and the publishers want to sell it at full retail price. they havent even tried anything new and the y expect us to buy their games when they come out just months apart from one another, honestly they release like three guitars heroes every year, gamers arent made of money and we arent some morons that will buy anything. what thye should really do is offer the new game as dlc its only fair
ps, “at the end of the day” FTW!!!
My epic battle cry goes out to pc gamers. it seems like every 5 years there is another article saying that pc gaming is dying out, and i understand why: just to keep up with a 300 dollar console you need a 3,000 dollar pc. but i also understand from their point of view. i sat down the other day and played a few games on my pc and it felt amazing to not be overwhelmed with adds, offers, and 3d avatars. i would just like to thank the hardcore gamers out there that dedicate themselves to their love for pc exclusives.
My battlecry this week goes out to Shenanigans.
From the DLC issues,pre-order exclusives, game retail prices,publishers/developers making ludicrous statements/promises, peripherals, movie tie-in games, not so special editions, and the countless of other gripes that have flooded message boards throughout this current generation of gaming. The conclusion to all these gripes is a endless stream of profanity and finger pointing, but the answer to everything has never been introduced.
It’s all our fault.
What a shock and people will be denying that they are in no way part of the problem. Bullshit, you are and you know it. Game publishers and developers are not to be blamed for all of the extra money made from nickel and dimeing every aspect of a title release because we’ve all proven that there are enough of us out there to shell out the cash. Some of it is ridiculous like SF4 costumes that are only glorified gameskins for 6 bucks a pack or Ratchet and Clank Pre-order exclusives that you can actually earn by playing the game.
People are stupid, they make rash decisions and impulse buys that make these practices profitable and acceptable. Christian Svenson of Capcom was right, sorry Tony, if we feel that it’s not right to be charged for it then don’t buy it. If we do not spend the time researching before buying a game and settling for the core experience on a game disc then we have no right to bitch about being bent over by these companies
It’s not rape if we willingly bend over while waving our wallets in the air
Uuuuuuh Killzone anyone, i think better than Halo
My epic battlecry goes out to…
a website called http://nextgenwalkthroughs.com/. This site has video walkthroughs for entire games complete with voiceovers. I have found it helpfull on a number of games. *cough* portal *cough* Anyway it’s a great site you should go check it out. (it’s free)
I’m starting to notice a trend in game companies releasing games in the early part of the following year. Usually being delays because they want to get their game seen pass big titles. My only true concern about this is the fact that if more games do this it will be like a extended Holiday season where now its October-December but might become October-March.
I would rather see big titles released in intervals. Such as Summer and Winter or Spring and Fall where I’ll actually have a CHANCE to make some money to buy all these great games. Would do you think?
my battle cry for the week is…at the end of the day..lets make it hard for daniel..the two words happen to be annoying me and maybe gonna be in my nightmare YOU KNOW..as i stream through the whole episode..daniel happen to have 73 “you know”..and wow did i happen to count that..at the end of the day your my idol..peace daniel
my battle cry goes out to the community of gamers that don’t constantly complain about all the free content they aren’t getting due to “dlc conspiracy theories” or “Nazi marketing strategies.” You get a gold star for not being annoying!
To be clear, dlc is very different from game patches (most notably patches at release or for offline play), so costumes or maps are dlc as they enhance or extend an experience not make/brake it.
Closely related are business strategies of companies coming under fire and accused of “selling out” or some such tom-foollery. They are companies not charities, you don’t like their stuff then don’t buy it, but who are you to decide in your infinite wisdom the should’s and should not’s of their business. You are not unbiased as a customer with your wallet to consider just as they have their wallet to consider as well.
My opinion: dlc has been like a nuclear grenade…it’s got more power and sway than the fellow holding it may realize. Either not used due to not knowing its potential or it back fires because it wasn’t use appropriately. KRBOOM. hehe
And the company’s strategies lately, well, let them try, time will tell.
So at the end of the day…i am amused.
Seeing those Wii clips, with the super cheerful people playing, always makes me kind of angry, and you wouldn’t like me when … ah, whatever.
My epic battle cry this week goes out to the remake of Monkey Island.
‘Nough said.
I felt that the GTA 4 DLC was quite acceptable and of course you can’t forget Fallout 3.
First Battle Cry that I’ve commented on and I have to say that I’m deffinately enjoying the podcast and I think you guys are doing a great job.
My own Battle Cry has to go to “the end of the day.” Because everyone knows that the start of the day SUCKS.
My battlecry goes out to RPG games on consoles that have severely tedious saving mechanisms (KoToR, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Oblivion, etc.).
They’re great on pc; press f5 and you’re saved. On the consoles, however, the auto-save features are rarely effective and the manual saves always seems like they take WAY TOO LONG (plus the reloading and re-buffering time once back in game).
I ALWAYS find myself redoing entire regions at a time because I come across surprise enemies/situations/one-chance-only puzzles (which are stupid to begin with) that I’m not prepared for.
THIS MAKES ME ANGRY…and want to play a really uninteresting and depth-less shooter (like Halo!).
Been watching/listening for a while now, but this is my first Battle Cry, so here we go:
My Battle Cry goes out to little gifts from developers, such as with the recent release of Elder Scrolls II and the upcoming release of the entire Mech Warrior 4 suite, completely free to the gamers. Sure, they’re old games, but the act of handing out some classic stuff back to your long-time fans, or letting the new generation see the roots of their “new classics,” just feels like a real treat to me, even if it is just nostalgia talking.
My battlecry goes out to downloadable games, it is possibly the best thing that has happened this gen. It has brought a market for small devs to release some really great games and get the money they deserve. Some examples for this are games like audio surf. Its not even just small devs though, games like battlefield 1943 and the pixeljunk games off of PSN are a breath of fresh air when put next to most of the crap that comes out these days. Just having access to these cheaply priced, but excellent titles is really a godsend, some of the best gaming moments i have had this gen are from small titles like plants vs zombies or even flower.
Ok, I might have spaced out or something while you guys were talking about Halo, as that seems to be my natural reaction now when someone starts talking about that game, but I kept hearing you say it was the first game to put the FPS on the map for consoles. I’m going to have to disagree. There was this game that I had, everyone I knew had, and we spent hundreds of hours blowing each other away with it, and that was Goldeneye 007 for the N64. That game definitely set the bar for FPS games out there, but even I forget about it sometimes. It was one of the first and best FPS multiplayer games for consoles and also it was a really fucking good movie-based game. So therefore my battlecry goes out to all the forgotten gems out there, the games that were badass during their time, but seem to have faded away from our memories.
My battle cry goes out to all the publishers/developers that plan their development schedule on a holiday release.
With news of Heavy rain being pushed back until next year where the market will be less saturated with “AAA” games, it makes you wonder why unestablished franchises are ever released after October of a calender year.
With most people (including yourselves) complaining about the small amount of releases during the end of Spring and the beginning of summer, you’d think more publishers would choose to release their games when the competition is almost all but nothing. If you have a game that’s worth playing, and receives the hype to get people excited (not hard in summer) then most people will try it due to the fact that there is nothing else worth playing.
I see this as a huge drawback to gaming as an artform. Most old timers/politicians see gaming akin to board games. Something that you market and sell to children. If every publisher saves their games for the holiday season, be they M rated or E rated, they’re hoping selling to gift buyers. Which is most likely parents buying for their children.
Isn’t this against everything gaming has worked for these past two decades?
I just wanted to ask the EBC-crew if you guys ever read any books?
More often than not, instead of review-scores being placed on the cover of books, they use blurbs from reviews. This has been working well for books for a while now.
Interesting thought, but it works to read a blurb for a book because the enjoyment of a book comes from reading. The enjoyment from a game comes from getting a high score or in general competing to be the best thus a score for the score-junkies.
I don’t actually trust scores myself as i’m sure many gamers don’t but it probably helps sell to parents during holiday seasons getting a game as a gift since they will likely be less informed.
My battlecry goes out to all of the developers keeping all hush hush about certain parts of a game. Now I know you cant realease it all due to the fact that you want to hype it up and what not. But a good example is Modern Warfare 2, when asked what multiplayer will have or what will be like, everytime Ive read something they say ” Its going to be fucking awseome”. What the fuck does that mean?! If you say this game is gonna be good, tell me why god damnit. My definition of awsome is not the same as yours, jackasses.
I know that reviews are somewhat useless due to the fact that they’re mostly opinions, but i still use them as a guide to which games i buy. I always research games that i’ll consider buying, i’ll watch screenshots and videos, but they can often be deceiving – they can make a game look great but when it comes out it could be broken and terrible – and i would’ve just wasted £40. So to prevent this i’ll go to metacritic and check the ratings for a game i’m interested in, if it’s getting mostly 80+ then i know it’s gunna be a “good” game, and if it’s getting a shit load of 30-40s then i know it’s a piece of shit and there’s no way i’m gunna buy it. Anyone remember Legendary? In the screenshots and videos before its release it looked pretty awesome, i was all excited about it and then it turned out to be terrible, if i hadn’t looked at the scores for it i would’ve bought it and blew all that money.
But then saying that, i bought Assassin’s Creed when that came out because that got great reviews and i got caught in the hype, but i hated it, it was the most boring repetitive waste of money i’ve ever bought, because of that one game i think twice about every purchase i make now. The last game i bought myself was Fallout 3, and even that disappointed me!
I love the Entombed soundtrack on the show, i’m seeing them next month at Bloodstock – so no more games for me, ‘cuz all my money’s going on that. \m/
I purpose a drinking game.Every “you know” take a shot of whiskey, every “at the end of the day” a shot of bourbon and every time Daniel express his undying love for commander Shepard take a shot of some thing that can take the paint off a 1974 Camaro But that have to do more with getting through his tween love letter’s then getting plastered.
Could not agree more on those ridiculous release dates.
Could not agree less on bleeping. Even bleeping is EPIC in this podcast ;P
The Official Playstation Magazine UK’s latest issues states that next month they have an exclusive Arkum Asylum review.
The ‘next month’ page contains a large picture of batman and the B:AA title.
my battle cry is on multiple topics. i think that the game score should be solely on what gamers give it. the cons and pros should be let known . * exactly what you guys do.
next i would like to hit up that i think that the halo story .. yeah we know its over hyped and just crap. but the multi player is what is the key element with the competitive and the sociable parts make how big halo really is.
Battlefield 1943 is the shit .. like its really good.. i like how its not about a story or any type of catch but its about the multi player *the people coming together and defeating the enemy* i think that game will be one of the best DL’d games today.
finally lastly JAPAN YOU ROCK
My battlecry goes out to media region segmentation. It has always plagued video games and movies but now it creeps into the internet as well. When I started using the net more than 10 years ago there was no distinction between a European and, say, an American user. Nowadays I get more and more sites telling me “this is not available in your country”, “that is not available because of licensing problems” etc.
This is a widespread problem which includes region codes on DVDs and videogames (making me buy a special set of hardware just to play imports on my TV) and as of late is has been affecting the digital distribution as well. This I am most upset about. There is no reason for bits and bytes to distinguish between countries, I understand there are certain laws that might block out one or the other title but everything else is just marketing and greed shenanigans.
The German Xbox Live Arcade store for example has a much reduced lineup of content, I can’t rent movies in English, lots of games missing. In an age where I can download almost everything I want within minutes from so called “illegal pirate sites” I get more and more p****d off about how the “legit” market breaks itself apart.
My Battle Cry goes out to simple fucking problems that game developers who are credited with pushing things to the limit seem to somehow manage the forget to iron out there games for bugs.
Fallout 3 one of my favourite games has so many epic bugs the game for me deserves a 7 at best. The way you walk in oblivion just got to me and alot of my freinds CoJ 2 missing guns problem when switching brothers or the fact that it has some of the worst checkpoint I have ever played, in a while hearing your brother say the same line while you get shot in the FACE for the 8th time is not cool. GAME OF THE YEAR Valve masterpiece L4D whats wrong with it you say well I dont get to play alot of it because people are beating down doors skipping Horde attacks. I just dont understand the people who do it becuase they have already gotten the acheivment and have used it dozens of times before so whats the point so while im trying to RAMBO the entire fucking zombie apolypse there siting in there JESUS ROOM like some fucking Jahova witness calling me a dumbass and faggot and asking if im going tobuy the L4D2…well besides from making the most pathetic trailer (it looked good but listen) when game contains weather changes/map changes you do not release a trailer showing a fat black guy who charecter quotes for freindly fire are gona be stuck in your brain like a fucking youtube remix, talking about his mama who fights a hillbilly tank with *GASP* a fucking melee…FIX THE FUCKING GAMES
My battle cry goes out to the PS2. I had one years ago, but never replaced it after I burned it out. I recently borrowed my brother in laws Ps2 to play Shadow of the Colossus, only to find a plethora of games that I had missed. Including titles like Kingdom Hearts, which even my wife is interested in.
I have to say that I disagree about the review scores.
I usually decide pretty quickly if I’m interested in a game or not, and as soon as that happens, I don’t want to hear or see any of the media or content until I have it in my console, so that I can experience it for myself.
But then again, I don’t want to blindly purchase something from hype I felt 4 months ago, which is why I look at the review scores, and the review scores alone, just to get a general implication on whether or not the developers dropped the ball somewhere along the development process.
To me review scores are important, and I appreciate a simple pros vs. cons list up top at the review.
My battle cry goes to the Wii Vitality Sensor. At first, it really looks retarded (and if it still does after reading this i dont blame you) but there are really some fun ways to experiment with this (besides sleeping because who wants to sleep with a video game). Like for example in horror games when you get really scared your adrenaline level increases and you can run faster or the screen gets blurry, etc. or maybe in simulation games like harvest moon if you’re tired it will make you go slower (which is gonna get annoying but whatever). So there some ways to use this that may appeal to some gamers. Hopefully they’re gonna use it for something other than relaxation.
Hey guys i have a battle cry and the segment you guys talked about quotes on boxes and scores is so true because as an employee of the all mighty game stop we tend to use quotes and scores and stats about the game and games in general as a sell tool and it works very well. but also i agree with you guys when you said a couple of weeks ago that the video game industry is trying to jump start the damn economy and god damn i dont know what to do but what do you guys think?
Hey guys i got a damn battlecry why are there soooomany damn games coming out really wish they would pick on the fact that they have about 3 to 4 months in the middle of the damn year that they never seem to release anything big and all the crappy games come out and we are bored out of are mine and then they start in August and they start releasing every giant AAA title that there is on the planet either on the same day as each other or a week apart from each other and then us games don’t have enough money to pay for everything and it just pisses me off then because we cant afford everything that comes out and i work at god damn game stop and i still wont be able to afford half things that come out and now i can just barely afford the bare essential games and i wanted to know your guys oppinon on this?
My battlecry this week goes out to you guys at the epic battle axe!
You guys did an amazing job. You know, you take every week the time to read the battlecries of your community and by just reading through most of them, I thought this could turn in to a fulltime job at some point. So Im really glad that you take so much time for your audience.
And you know also you wanted to know what “wunderbar” means, it means wonderfull…
I am German and to me you sound kinda moronic while saying “wunderbar”, but hey AT THE END OF THE DAY its always fun to hear you guys trying to speak german.
greetings from Germany / Dietzenbach (you know…one more überword for you
My battlecry goes out to the guys making the new Castlevania. So far, it’s looking pretty good, but I have to say, if you don’t come up with something that doesn’t feel like Castlevania and blow me away at the same time, I won’t be impressed. Really, the only difference between this Castlevania game and Curse of Darkness is money. You guys are receiving a full freaking budget, while IGA and his team basically got the shaft where funding is concerned.
I have respect for what IGA churned out. Those two 3d games may not have been perfect, but at least they were fun and actually felt like Castlevania. They did the best they could considering how much money they had to work with. You guys (in europe somewhere) have a full on budget, but the more info I get about the game, the more I’m worried that this game won’t feel like Castlevania at all.
I do hope though that IGA still gets to make more 2d Castlevania games. Order of Ecclesia is probably the best in the franchise to date, and now I want more.
My Battle Cry, although not game-related, is for Epic Battle Cry and Daniel Kayser, and how Daniel’s quotes often become the title for EBC’s Skirmishes. (i.e. Swo-toor and Suckerpunched)
P.S.
To Nintendo, make a fighting game or something that doesn’t involve me getting a new damn peripheral.
As a wunderbar german gamer I can say that I import(!) the british game mag EDGE MAGAZINE, because it’s written with style and seriousness for gamers over the age of 25. It’s a really good piece of journalism.
German mags on the other hand are for retarded children.
My BattleCry goes out to the people at Infinity Ward and their plan for global domination.
Announcement was made for a ‘Prestige Edition’ for modern warfare 2 that contains fully functional night vision goggles. I can only prophesyse that by 2024 and 4 new sequels from now, Infinity ward will have release special editions that include:
MW3- body armor
MW4- mk23 pistol
–(silencer comes with normal special edition and laser site comes with regular edition)
MW5- m4 assault rifle
–(attachments will release similar like MW4)
MW6- Various grenades from flash bang to M67
Then Infinity Ward will announce that they will not release another Modern Warfare (MW) until ever government in the world is under their control. The next great world war will begin….
My battle Cry goes out to gog.com.
Those of us who have played games for 10 years or more now, all wish that we could go back and play all the awesome games we grew up with and then some.
It’s awesome, virtually a give away and DRM free. And by some kind of miracle… all the games WORK on Vista.
Anyways, check it out.
My battle cry goes out to the little news feeds that games have nowadays
i bought modern warfare a couple mouths back and it had the little box on the corner with stuff like “check for updates on twitter” and last week as i bought battlefield 1943 it has the scrolling newsfeed thingy on the bottom which updates on all the important stuff.
Thanks guys
I wanted to know why there hasn’t been much press from Game Informer on Mass Effect 2 in relation to the possibility of the PS3 seeing the franchise. As Microsoft is no longer on the scene, and EA has taken the reins on the project, I was very hopeful that it would become a multiplatform title. Naturally, there has been myriad speculations on the web and amongst gamers, but I would love to see the excellent RPG head over Sony’s way. Even on the Bioware site, in the Mass Effect FAQs, the question “Will there be a PS3 version of Mass Effect 1 and 2?” is answered with “Mass Effect 2 is planned for the PC and Xbox 360.” If the answer was no, why wouldn’t they just say so?
And I also wanted to see if anyone had an opinion on the recent aversion game developers and publishers (live Valve, Activision) have to developing for the PS3. The PS3 is not really more complicated in terms of architecture when compared to the 360, albeit it is different. So my question is, are these companies just not willing to put in the effort? Or has Microsoft threatened their contracts or something? I believe that when a game is developed on the PS3 and ported to the 360, the game turns out great. Why can’t they manage that? Assassin’s Creed and The Orange Box suffered in it’s PS3 incarnation, and I would hate for that to continue happening in the future.
My BattleCry goes out to the gaming industry screwing consumers. Boo.
My BattleCry goes out, in memoriam, to DIVERSITY. I feel like I could improve the gaming industry by mailing out a quarter and a pair of dice to every dev on the planet and telling them to randomize their shit, because if I ever have to play as another white, bald super soldier, I’m going to puke up my own colon.
For a medium that’s basal appeal is the ability to become anyone and do anything, I spend way to much time doing the same tired shit. Is the narrative ability of the entire industry truly so stunted? Why can’t I play as an eight year old Inuit boy who has to survive an eight day trek across vicious, wolf and bear infested frozen tundra to get medicine to my dying mother? If it has to involve an alien invasion, why can’t I play as a middle aged indian teacher protecting her students as they desperately avoid death or capture across a laser-ravaged Mumbai? If there have to be Nazis, why can’t I be the 50 year old Jewish man struggling to make contacts and escape the Ghetto?
I just came up with three original game premises in about two minutes. I think I’d buy all three of those games if they were well developed. When is the industry going to grow up and embrace a little diversity?
My battlecry goes out to Infinity Ward or ulitmately their puppet masters Activision for the new MW2 Presitage Edition.
WTF happened to action figures or an art book for special edition stuff? NOW we get these giant rape editions, featuring fucking useless shit, these Night Vision Goggles come to mind as well as Batman Arkham Asyhlam’s fucking bat-a-rang!
Great show guys. Always great at the end of the day.
Ya know.
My Battle Cry goes out to Activision and Neversoft for destroying the Guitar Hero franchise. For Instance lets go back in time to October 2007 when Guitar Hero 3:Legends of Rock came out and everyone in the guitar hero community was excited about the setlist and worried about neversoft now taking lead of the series. All in all it recieved a great reception by the fans even though some had a thing to pick with them about the time frame that you can hit a note but again that was a minor detail, after that began the addons beginning with the 80′s version and then aerosmith but the thing that got me was World Tour….By far that has to be the worst music game ive played. It felt broken and just thrown together, I DONT CARE THAT MUCH FOR TOOL, OZZY, AND JIMI HENDRIX TO HAVE MORE THAN ONE SONG FROM THEM!!! Ever since GH3 it has seemed that they have not cared for the series at all and now GH5 has set that in stone for me, Just take a look at the logo. They stuck just a 5 on the thing…….Nothing special but a 5 and made the game more arcade like by dropping in and droping out and again…The setlist is only so so*Yay for some Tom Petty and Rush!*. The DLC content sucks just as bad as the game too. Then you take Harmonix who actually put good songs out for the people that request them and when they make a spinoff on The Beatles and it seems like they actually put a ton of work into the backgrounds, the songs and the 3 part harmonies. Bassicly the reason im angry is the fact that a game that seemed to have some kind of love for the people who played it has gone missing.
My battle cry goes out to you Tony, Daniel and Brent. Great job on ep 37. One of the best/funniest yet. Great subjects were talked about and a horribly great lame funny intro. Keep it up.
My Battlecry of the week goes to Activision and the Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition.
Since publishers startet to put something special in their collectors editions, I have never seen something you could actually use (Besides the letter-opener in the Two worlds Special Edition). I mean, in the Bioshock Collectors Edition, you had the game itself, artbook etc. and a Big Daddy Miniature. It looks cool, you can put it on you desk or into a shelf and look at it, but after a while it really gets lame. In the Special Edition of Assassins Creed there was a figure of Altair, same story.
When Halo 3 launched and the legendary edition was released, I really thought, yeah finally something I can use, but what did I saw when I opened it and looked at the helmet? You can not use it. So you can’t run naked through your kitchen with the helmet on, shouting I AM THE MASTERCHIEF!
With the Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 2 things have changed. Now you have cool, fully working, Nightvision-Goggles, with which you can spy on you neighbours, take the trash outside at night and of course watch you girlfriend sleeping. And if you don’t want to use it, you’ve got a plastic head to put it on to.
I really think publishers and developers should really put more cool stuff like that in their special Editions, no matter what the actual price will be.
So long, OmikronApex
My Epic Battle Cry goes to Microsoft and their Memory system. Why does Microsoft continue to use these stupid Hard Drives when we could use PC memory units? Considering Microsoft works hand in hand with the PC I want my damn thumb drive to work for my 360 to save my games and content to make it easier to move and use.
My Battle cry goes out to a underrated game that created games like gears of war, that shitty fiddy cent game, ect ect its called killswitch it created the cover system unknowngly and gets no respect for it
My battlecry goes out to anyone that predicts or even hopes that Project Natal or any of those various motion-sensor waggling-tools will replace normal button-controllers in the future.
It just wont. Or at least it shouldn’t.
There are a lot of people like me that suffers from Arthritis or various other problems that completely rules out frantically waving your arms around or playing games standing up for any lenght of time. That just hurts like a bitch and it’s the reason why I don’t own a Wii.
There are also a lot of people who don’t have the space or the living room layout to behave like a monkey in front of the TV.
Michael Pachter (I think it was) said in the last “Bonus Round” at Gametrailers, that he believed this kind of interface would completely replace the normal button-thumbstick controllers in the future. I hope he is wrong because that would effectively stop my enjoyment of games.
My battlecry relates to the discussion of game reviews this week. It goes out to a little site by the name of gamefaqs.com. Gamefaqs is probably the best site for game reviews, since the people who review them aren’t being paid by anyone, their job isn’t being a game reviewer. The reviews are just a bunch of gamers who have nothing to gain from their review other than the satisfaction of having their review published on the internet. I love being able to find a review from a fan of a series, and get a review from a fellow fan other than some guy who’s been forced to play an entire series rather than choosing to.
My Battlecry goes out to the music in games. Games like Super Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Metal Gear Solid, and even Halo are synonymus with songs from their games. Im talking about original music for new games. That’s missing in modern games. We just hear bland beats, or have to play Guitar Hero/Rockband for ood music. I wanna know if you guys think we’ll ever hear a “Duck Tales Moon Theme” song again, where a random song makes a game legendary.
My battle cry goes out to the lack of original adventure games in the market. At the age of 17, I have not been playing video games as long as most of the people running this website. As a kid, my earliest memories of video games exceded 32-bits and were run with 3-D engines. My favorite games were Banjo-Kazooie, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, and surprisingly Conker’s Bad Fur Day (why my parents allowed me to play this game is beyond me). As time went on, and as I traded in my PSX for a PS2, adventure games continued to be my goto game genre. I loved games like Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank as they presented completely original characters along with completely original game worlds where you did completely orginal things in terms of gameplay. The quirky humour included through cutscenes and dialogue kept me hooked and provided much appreciated laughter while playing the game. I continued to enjoy these franchises until around the time the Xbox 360 was launched. At this point it seemed as if the quality and diversity of adventure/platforming games continued to decrease. Ratchet and Clank: Deadlocked was released and became the first Ratchet and Clank game that I absolutely did not like. The ongoing popularity of online gaming influenced the developers at Insomniac to create a less than satisfactory take on the Ratchet universe. Even the current Ratchet games on PS3, which stay closer to the original formula, seem to present the idea of more weapons and more enemies causing overall atmosphere and originality to take a backseat. Just because games are becoming more and more complex doesn’t mean that developers must continually throw out old game institutions(What are wrong with health packs?). What I want is a Jak and Daxter on next gen consoles that takes advantage of the advanced hardware but does not relish in its power. I could care less about better explosions and more enemies on screen.
While I want more impressive backdrops, I also want completely original characters and story along with original and interesting gameplay scenerios. Please give me a new Conker game. Please give me a new Spyro game that does not suck. Please give me a new Banjo game where building things is not the main focus. Leave current popularity of game conventions out of the equation and stick with what originally made adventure games awesome in the first place.
My Epic Battle Cry goes out to Brent Adams for saying that freaking halo put first person shooters on the map, come on dude i think we all know what game put first person shooters on the map and that has Golden Eye!!
EPIC FAIL FOR SAY THAT LAME ASS HALO PUT FIRTS PERSON SHOTERS ON THE MAP!!!
Crap sorry for my bad spelling, where is the freaking edit button?
My battle cry goes out to the developers/publishers of the games that we play nowadays. There is no source of better quality assurance or pre-release feedback than the multitude of video game forums out there in which avid gamers post discussions and replies to the changes in the industry (a la EBA). And yet, we still are left sobbing in lieu of poorly developed, over-hyped games, the formula to which has been done before and shown to not work. Are gamers actually doing anything to help the industry by our comments or are we just blowing off our collective steam only to have it build up again on the next round of crap that is fed to us by our empathy-less video game overlords? For example, Nintendo is constantly saying that they are listening to their gamers, but then you have such games as Walk it Off coming out, and you have to wonder about the battery life in their collective hearing aids.
I understand the industry needs to make money; however, as was aptly pointed out in Skirmish 37, the proof is in the pudding. Listen to what gamers want by going onto these forums and performing some form of qualitative study on the comments of the gamers, so that you are able to give us what we want: well thought out, well designed, story driven games that show gamers the respect they deserve. You scratch our backs and we pay you money. It works…
My battleCry this week goes to games like Gears of War and Halo and their PC ports. The first two halo and the first Gears of war were ported to the PC a while back but the 3rd and second installement are nowhere to be seen. It’s really frustrating to get hooked on a game and knowing that this is all your gonna get. This might be the case for other games as well but these two were the obvious one.
Sorry for bad english I’m french
oh and nice EP guys!!!
My Battle Cry goes straight to FunCom and they AoC game!
I played it for a year but had to stop due to some family issues. I received an email from FunCom few days back that they got new content and I can test it out for 14 days for free. I was like WoW… Can’t wait. I installed the game, downloaded all the patches and it started. Graphic is much worse then it was. I had to install all bunch of thing to run it on DX10 (other games worked fine of course). I played for like 2 days and finished everything new. This suppose to be great AoC return. For me it was FunCom failure that will drag this “Fun” game to the deepest pits of hell.
Sorry guys but You blew it totaly !!!
My battle cry goes out to…well, nothing. Their aren’t any good co-op games released recently (besides RE5 which I played to death) and its driveing me CRAZY. when are publishers going to relize co-op sells games! And when am I going to get A game with 4 player split screen Deathmatch and co-op??? every game should have full co-op even if it dosen’t make sense to the story!
My other battle cry goes out to games like Deamon Souls which are available on ebay but arent being released for months!!! WTF is that about?!?!?
I believe that I have an answer to your Halo question. You have to go back to the original Xbox. There weren’t many games out on the console, because all the titles were being made for the PS2, then a decent game came out and (with nothing to compare it to) everyone thought that it was a gift from god.
Halo was also easily accesible to everyone, and there are just so many people playing it, that it’s astounding.
At the end of the day [he he he] I think that it was more about the release date than anything else. There were no other games around to compare it to.
You’ll never be able to get Halo out of our culture, because 99.9% of people have played it and 70% love it to death.
P.S. Why is Master Cheif so different form Mario? Master Chief was a generic super soldier, and Mario was a generic Italien Plumber. The only difference is that you like Mario, and not Master Chief.
——————————————————-
By the way, my Battle Cry is;
I hate useless DLCs. I know that you guys whine about this in every podcast, but. I recently bought Dead Space [because I refuse to buy any games new] and I had heard that they had some DLC. So I went to see what they had. There were over twenty! I downloaded afew, to see what they were. I went into the game and found out that they were just different skins to the the same guns. i thought that they would be new weapons, or a new level, but I’d just downloaded a picture that they then slapped onto the gun.
My battle cry goes out to movies & video games. When will the video game & movies companies think that when a movie is about to come out, THEY MUST A HAVE A SHITTY GAME THAT COMES WITH IT. They make a half-ass finished game and claim it is way more fun than the movie, but epic fails when your playing the game midway. It’s even worst when someone you knows you, but gets the game because he thought you like that kind of thing (like getting Lion King instead of Gears of War 2).
AT THE END OF THE DAY (seriously, think of something else to say, “All in All” or “What it comes down to is” or “taking into account”), Movie Video Games shouldn’t be made and Video games shouldn’t be made into Movies. Case and point HITMAN : the movie. A heartless ass wipe who kills people for MONEY (video game) turn into a pussy whipped moron who kills people for a girl (movie).
Nuff said….
My battle cry goes out to the Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition. It looks awesome with the night vision goggles and more, but what I want know is if it is worth it. I mean real night vision that is epic, but why cant i just buy the game and be happy with that. Its not like OMG i can put these on on the dark parts of the game and then i can see everything. Plus when a new game comes out that you were so hyped about as must as Modern Warfare 2 then you are going to forget about them. So please Daniel answer to me if this worth it without saying at the end of the day. Plus keep up the good work guys
My battlecry goes out to Microsoft and Halo Wars.
800 MS points for a map pack containing 4 new maps? This is an RTS game not a shooter! It’s not like new maps in RTS games really shake up the gameplay like in an FPS.
Starcraft, Command and Conquer, Age of Empires, Dawn of War, Warcraft and virturally every popular RTS game out there has a map editor and when new maps come out from the devs, they don’t charge gamers up the ass.
$10 for four RTS maps. That is truely sad, good day Microsoft. I bet you love milking the Halo cow don’t you?
Howdy everyone. My battle cry goes out to all us fans of the fighting genre. We finally have a reason to buy an arcade stick. SF4 and SF2 HD Remix kicked things off real well and BlazBlue just released which is a ton of fun to play. Then we got Marvel VS. Capcom 2 released for the 29 of July followed by King of Fighters 12 and Tekken 6 later on in the year.
It’s pretty exciting to play all these games on line from people all over the world. The only problem is paying an extra twenty to thirty dollars just to have all the alternate costumes.
My Battle Cry goes out to the gamers in Germany. A month ago, the German government tried to get a law through that will dismiss violent games, due to the the violent school shooting a few months back. A couple of days ago, German gamers were protesting in the streets, and started a online petition. If the petition would get 50 000 signatures in 3 weeks, they would go to court to defend gaming. It’s now 3 of days later, and the petition has over 57 000 signatures.
Best of luck to those who are defending the gaming-industry, and are proving that video games are there to spread entertainment, and not violence.
My battle cry goes out to Bethesda and their constant flow of DlC for Fallout 3.You rarely see companies supporting their products like this(without making you feel like a moron when you buy it).Operation Anchorage I taught the quality won’t go further. But it did.We know have 4 DLC packs and a fifth one on the way.And i hope that’s all.Because….From Alien Spacecrafts, you can only go downwards.
My battle cry goes out to all game media strangling the bandwidth. If I recall correctly, EA started it (and I hate EA anyway
). There’s no magic and almost no surprise left in games these days – you most definetly get a whole mountain of trailer equal to about half a movie, which at first evoke a “holy something, I want to play that” to a “meh, seen too much of it to be interested” at the end. You get basicaly full tutorials on video that explain every single aspect of the game, wether it’s basic controls or something that might possibly be a twist. You can sometimes even piece the plot together from all the media every game today gets. The result- you know almost everything about a game before even starting it. As a great counter-example I can mention the sublime Max Payne 2 : the game was top notch in every possible category, and I think a large part of that is that it came out with almost no media at all, there were a couple of very vague trailers and that’s it- and the players went into the game with an explorative motiv, every twist and every change or addition, every location was NEW and exciting. So that’s my battle cry (rant?
) about gaming media in general.
Great Podcast this week…Always enjoy them. Tony, I couldn’t agree with you more regarding Halo…I’ve played all 3, but don’t understand the hype. The gameplay is alright, but it’s such a tired franchise.
battlecry:
I have a simple solution for the review problems out there…Still review the game and tell people the good and the bad, but drop the number rating system since people pay too much attention to it. It’s all subjective anyway. It’s like our economy…People say it’s going to get worse which scares people out of spending, which in turn makes it worse. Gaming is the same…a reviewer gives a low score to a game, which scares people from buying it and causes a buzz in the industry that this is a game to avoid.
My battle cry goes out to Max Payne 3, which I think should be renamed to Bald Man With Beard In Brazil. Max Payne 2 was already a step away from the dark mood of the first game, but Max Payne 3, to me, perfectly embodies what’s wrong with games nowadays. It seems that developers are using nostalgia and familiar names from the past, but add something to make them “cool” to try and make a buck. What’s next, a new Metal Gear Solid game with a soundtrack by Kid Rock?
My battle cry goes out to the Kayser Chief! I think he hit the nail on the head when he was talking about Halo 3.
Its a much discussed game and one full of debate! I do agree that things such as story are not really that “omg this game is teh roxx0r” However, as Daniel said the game is kept alive through its multiplayer aspect.. Games with such good multiplayer will always stay strong. I guess my battle cry goes out to the developers(as well as Daniel) who are accommodating great single player gameplay but still put a lot of work into multiplayer!
Hey Guys
My Battle Cry goes out to xbox live as in the last week they have realeased 1 vs 100 for free in the uk and europe (I don’t know if ths is already out in America) that gives the chance for anyone to win real prizes such from microsoft points to holidays and tvs. Although it seems there are more chances to win microsoft points I still think that this is a great idea to get free dlc for playing a few 1 vs 100 games, and hopefully in the future more games like this will be availible. (However As mentioned in previous eba’s this content should be free anyway)
Thanks Guys

My battle cry goes out to left 4 dead 2 because it realy feels that this is the same old …. . The makers of the game should convince plyers more then just with new melee wepons and day time map. They have still time and hope to see that they bring balls out of the fire on pc gamers vision. But great show and great photo shoping. If thease guys aren`t right, then we all are …… .
Hi Daniel!
If you want to know how to pronounce “wunderbar” correctly just listen to Rammstein’s song “Amerika”, where the corus is “We’re all living in America, Amerika ist wunderbar”.
My BattleCry goes out to what cloud computing can potentially mean in the future. Everyone seems to be getting in on it with things like Playstation Cloud, Onlive, Gaikai, and Xbox 360s new instant 1080p NetFlix movies (not specified if it’s cloud computing or not though). “Cloud Gaming” is such an amazing prospect, because if done right we may never have latency issues within online games again. Since every player would essentially play on a giant LAN setup remotely, the actual latency of the online experience in the game would be 0.
I could really see MMO companies adopting this technology for their games and servers. Instead of buying a computer/console, the game, and then subscribing, you would just load up a browser, subscribe, and then connect to the remote computer which also happens to be the game server. This would then eliminate latency as a factor for twitch based MMOs (Planetside, Darkfall, Mortal Online, etc), you could make the game as high quality and detailed as you want since you are designing for specific hardware, and you’d have potential to place more people in the same game world simply because of the LAN Center effect from the setup.
On the console side, imagine Xbox Live or PSN with rentable games. You pay $5 to rent and with no downloading you’re instantly in the game, and playing as if it were physically in the system. Prices for full games would likely come down for cloud gaming too, such as $30 for a title that would retail for $60 on store shelves.
There’s a lot of possibilities, but I think that instead of focusing on what OnLive and Gaikai are creating, just look at the technology. Sony and Microsoft could easily buy out either of them and apply cloud gaming to their current consoles, I’m just eagerly awaiting for betas and information as time goes on.
There’s no edit so I guess I’ll apply it here. In the line
“Instead of buying a computer/console, the game, and then subscribing,”
it should read
“Instead of buying a high-end computer/console, the game, and then subscribing,
I just bought a copy of Oddworld Strangers Wrath for the original Xbox. Loved it when it first came out, great story, imaginative universe/characters, great take on FPS, all around loved it. Does it work on my 360?
No. Neither does Deus Ex: Invisible War. And yet i can play Barbie Horse Adventures. I realize there’s some technical reason behind it but it’s still wrong.
Also speaking of Strangers Wrath gamers need to spend more money on the titles that bring something new and interesting to the market to encourage more risk taking by the devs and publishers. I swear to god if Brutal Legend doesn’t sell huge i’m gonna boot a baby through some uprights.
My Battle Cry this week goes to the guys of Aspyr Media, for failing once more to bring the Guitar Hero franchise to the PC. The game was obviously cracked by pirates before the official release of Guitar hero World Tour for the PC, and they have obviously devised a way to play with out having any actual guitar/drum/microfone controllers. I’m not saying that piracy is a good thing, I’m just saying that the Aspyr media fails once more to PORT a fucking game. And a fucking awful game too.
My Battle Cry goes to Bioware wich are a great RPG developer and Mass Effect is in my opinion one of the best console RPG’s this generation.
Bioware has made some Dev diarys (wich everyone makes) for Mass Effect 2 wich are great and all but, I think they contain some spoilers. They are saying that Shepard can die without seing “game over” in Mass Effect 2. Not only that but you see the Normandy getting destroyed. I woud have liked to ekspirence this myself, but Bioware are using it to build op the hype train.
This is not only to Bioware, but to any developer (or reviewer *cough* Assassins Creed and the Animus *cough*)
Saying “Hi” from Denmark!
My Battle Cry goes out to punk ass game developers who feel like they need to buy game ratings. Like you guys discussed in ep:37 Eidos really does not need to try to buy ratings with Batman: Arkham Asylum. The game looks great and the gameplay is out of this world. Other developers like Rockstar who dished out loads of money to buy the perfect “10″ rating for Grand Theft Auto 4 is just a perfect example of how game developers nowadays are more interested in making the big money rather than doing whats best for the consumer. Instead of putting all their game reviewers up in hotels and giving them free food and “ahem” prostitutes, they should of spent their money on fixing the fact that you cant even brush your motorcycle tire along a furry bunny without being sent flying through the air. What happened to caring about the consumers???
my ebc goes to gamer magazines. wtf are they doing? i remember reading old mags like egm and psm, this was way back before so its bit different from magazines now who have to compete with internet. even so those magazines had awesome stuff. psm had exclusive hand drawn cover art which was always badass while egm, well egm was just a good magazine. nowadays you get a silly screenshot for covers..
why dont magazines find something exclusive, make it if they have to. the only way thy can ever compete is by getting exclusive content. im not talking about early reviews for batman, who gives a shit about that. im talking like “buy this, get that” kinda stuff. like xbox magazine can offer a few microsoft points with every magazine purchased (just an example). or even just more badass art.
if they have to, gamer mags can even use promiscuous pictures of gamer chicks, just like Stuff or T3 uses a picture of hot girls on their covers.
just step it up, gamer mags now are nothing like they used to be.
My battle cry goes out to something you guys talked about like 4 months back, GameStop trade-ins. Towards the end of last generation before the 360 came out I went to GameStop to trade in some of my Gamecube games. out of ten or so games, not one earned more than one or two dollars in trade-in credit. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the cashier says to me of Rogue Squadron 2, “Hey. That’s a good game. I’ll buy it off you for two dollars in cash.”
Now, I’m wasn’t just being bent over the table by GameStop but also the nerdy guy behind the counter. It was just insulting, but that was the only place I could go if I wanted to sell my games.
Just wanted to give a BattleCry for sticking it to Halo- I’ve felt that it was overrated forEVER… Go Tony!
It’s not bad, but it’s not particularly good. But it’s definitely no Half-Life 2.
Madden Roster update
my battlcry goes out too you guys!
most of the time you guys are always wright about the gaming industry but one time, you guys agreeing to the battlecry tat we in europe always get screwed in the gaming industry isn’t wright.
I live in Belgium and here the wii motion plus and wii sports resort are already for sale.
how does it feel to be on the recieving end now huh.
lolz!
by the way i now my username sucks and is “VERRY” original like diabetic farts (lol reference to another epic battlecry episode) but i took it cause it is easy to remember.
man this comment is getting long.
by the way if you see any typing mistakes, i live in belgiüm and i speak dutch (translate this): dus jullie kunnen allemaal je moeder gaan neuken, o nee dat is te grof, ik verontschuldig me.
I bet a lot of girls from World of Warcraft would be very happy to lose their virginity to Daniel.
My battle cry goes out to Nintendo for having the best, THE BEST console ever for offline multiplayer. No other console has nailed it better than the Wii. This generation has games like Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii, The Game Cube had Zelda Four Swords Adventure and F-Zero GX and even the Virtual Console has good multiplayer games that even rival todays finest. Even five simultanous players can enjoy a round of Dungeon Explorer or Bomberman ’93. How the fuck can a 16-year old game still kick so much ass? All this on one single console and you can’t get it anywhere else! Today online seems to be the way of the future, but thank you Nintendo for letting this old tradition live on.
No FPS, RTS or MMO experience can win against a combination of four friends with a controller in one hand and a cold beer in the other.
My battlecry goes out to Jack Thompson. I used to think that he was a total pile of shit, back when I didn’t know anything about him. But I saw the debate and Q&A at SGC, totally prepared to hate him, and ended up being very impressed with what he said. It would be cool if you guys watched that before doing the show then talked about it a bit. Mostly what he talked about was that he wanted the government to be the last option, and he wanted simply for retailers to be more strict about keeping M games out of kids below the age of 15. I think that’s agreeable.
My battle cry goes out to Infinity Ward for making my childhood dreams come true. As a little kid I’ve always wanted my own pair of Night Vision Goggles and now with this ridiculous “Prestige Edition” my childhood fantasy can come true and I can now look at stuff in the dark!
However I can see this horribly backfiring when some perverted person gets a hold of these and decides to use them to spy on the neighbors daughter at night and Jack Thompson rises from the ashes to bring vengeance on the video game industry for supporting stalkers or something retarded like that. Sadly if that happens some people might actually listen to that douchebag.
My battle cry goes out to the Halo part of Ep 37 it caused a shit storm on game trailers! Here is one thread on what you caused. http://forums.gametrailers.com/thread/who-in-the-epicbattlecry-podca/869478?page=9 Did you seriously have to do that why couldn’t World of Warcraft, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Zelda been mentioned with it? Thanks for a great love the review style’s you guys do but a lot of dumb asses (fan boy’s) take your opinion’s as fact and just try to troll the forums….. But keep up the good work!
I meant to say “Thanks for a great show, love the review style you guys do”
My Battle Cry goes out to Demos. I think there needs to be more game demos for games. Not only can it be used as a type of marketing and can increase the hype, it can reduce the learning curve on alot of games that have complicated controls. In other cases it gives gamers that are not to sure about the series to try out a game without wasting $60.
For instance i heard so much good things about Too Human and then i played the demo and i was pissed at and the lackluster demo i had played. I waited for the game to be relesed and i was glad to find out that i was right about the game.
So what are your thoughts about game demos?
(long time watcher, first time battle cry)
My battle cry goes out to Daniel Kaiser (I think that’s how you spell it, but then again, I don’t really care) on the whole “SWOTOR” issue. You’re esteemed colleagues dissed you saying “Nobody says SWtOR”. Well now Star Wars: The Old Republics OFFICIAL website (not something created by kaiser) is actually http://www.SWtOR.com
So shame on you esteemed colleagues, people do say SWtOR, the makers of SWtOR say SWtOR.
My battle cry goes out to greedy distributors. I live in Portugal and I don’t purchase games here anymore, since every game for the new generation of consoles is between €60-€75, and prices just don’t come down. I only buy games from places like amazon.co.uk since, even with transport fees, I can purchase two games for the price of one here.
My very first Battle Cry goes out to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Prestige edition special edition game pack from Activision, maybe Gamestop?(please don’t ruin it gamestop).
In this box set of badassness you recive the hardened edition of the game along with a art book and an all steel cver for the case of the game as well as a token that is good for a free download of the original call of duty off Xbox Live later this year. But not only that you get a pair of authentic, real working night vision gogles! THis is perfect for me because thre are things I always wish I had a five pound, five thouseand dollar piece of high tech strapped to my face. For example when I need to take a dump at one A.M. but am to tired to rollover and turn on the lamp I can pull off the goggles from the “S.O.A.P.” bust that also comes in hte Prestige edition and walk the ten feet to the bathroom come back power them off and go back to sleep.
With out a doubt this is the most ridicous gimick to pay one hundred extra dollars for a game that I have ever heard of. Not only does this not benefit you any way it is also completly unneccesary, I mean who that isn’t in the Army needs night vision goggles? tHe only way that this could have been even morre ridiculus is if it came with the combat Knife and the sileced pistol from the game.(ehich I would not put past Gamestop as making that an exculsive for them)
My very first Battle Cry goes out to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition. This is one the most rediculous bundles I have ever heard. In this you will get the Hardened Edition Version of the game that also has the official custom artbook and hte development art book as well as a token for a free download of the original Call of Duty off Xbox Live and PSN later that year, and on top all that you will recieve a bust of “Soap” from the Modern Warfare and to go with him a fully functioning set pair of night Vision goggles! I am not kidding. These are a real working multi visibility settings fully functional set of night vision goggles. The only way that this could have been even more ridicouls is if that also came with the combat knife and a silenced pistol from the game.
THis is a perfect example of a developer making unneccary crap just to make more money. It would have made more sense to include something less exspensive like something that would make the exspierience better for the player or something that would make the gameplay it self standout from other versions, such as in game pre mission load out custommization, added missions or all weapons unlocked for multiplayer from the start of play. Anything like that I would gladly pay more than whatever they will ask than for what the Prestige edition already offers. and even if you did get these people would only use them to go to the Bathroom late a night or walking the dog at night or something like that. BUt this is something that a very select few will like and actually use while some people will just be wasting their money which is the last things we should be doing in such a volatile economy.(But it is kind of Badass)
Hey guys, I’m just gonna leave this here.
My battle cry goes out to all the fake gamers in the world. Maybe it’s just me but, isn’t being a gamer about loving all games in general despite of what console they’re on. I don’t remember back in the day having to listen to so many people bitch about which console is better like we have to now. I mean, it’s getting to the point where the arguments are ridiculous (all comments an any exclusive game video on GT). I own both a Ps3 and 360 and i love both of them. They both have great games and people just can’t seem to GET THAT. I think this all boils down to money (like everything else in the gaming world). The conclusion that I’ve come to is that if people can’t afford to have both consoles then they completely SHIT on the console that they DO NOT HAVE. Please, its stupid and unnecessary. I would really like to hear what you guys think…
…Zero Out…
My Battle Cry goes out to game ratings company’s and there rules on censoring games. For example, I was just watching a Walkthrough of God Of War 3 and all the good parts were “censored by the ESRB” Why? I’m over 18 I what to be any to see a guys head been torn off by the biggest bad-ass in gaming. I don’t what some mamas-boy to telling me i can’t. What do you guys think? and Is it getting to much?
My battlecry goes out to the guys making ORIGINAL music for games. Those guys deserve more recognition. I also hope they continue making original, recognizable music (like the music in Braid, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Mirrors Edge and even Diablo II) and stay clear of the hollywood orchestramusic which plagues the movies and most high-budget games.
Battle Cry !

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger ROCKS !
Sorry for reposting- minor edit.
I wanted to know why there hasn’t been much press on Mass Effect 2 in relation to the possibility of the PS3 seeing the franchise.
Boo.
It’s basically a dead horse at this point, but going with what you said about DLC and halo being overrated, if Halo 3: ODST is based on the Halo 3 engine, why isn’t it DLC for Halo 3? It seems overkill to release a sequel to a sequel, especially with Reach being released.
My battle cry goes to the adventure game. One of my fondest memories is playing the game Neverhood. I really feel that the adventure game has been forgotten which really saddens me. Games like the Ace Attorney series have revitalized some of the adventure game genre, but I think more is necessary.
ODST is a great game. nice story campaign, new gameplay elements that made it different from halo 1-3. No dissing.
You have a nice article…have a great day.
