Backs to the pillars and swords to the gates, its time for another edition of EpicBattleCry! This week, we discuss the new Grand Theft Auto 4 DLC pack, The Ballad of Gay Tony, face front on the news that Stan Lee will be a playable character in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, take a look at the Wii/DS exclusive Need for Speed: Nitro, and raise a glass to Double Fine for showing us all how to wield the axe as they counter-sue Activision over the attempt to cancel the release of Brutal Legend.
Battlefield 1943 has already sold over 600,000 copies on XBL and PSN. We take a look at the emerging download-only games market and ponder if these cas-core titles will rival on-disc releases in the not-too-distant future. Next up, we run down the movie/game crossover announcements coming out of the San Diego Comic Con including the Warcraft film and the Halo Legends anime.
The Battle Cry of the Week goes to Daigo Umehara, the reigning EVO 2009 Street Fighter IV champion, the Chicago Transit Authority for having its head shoved someplace dark, Warner Bros. for packaging coupons for the special-special edition of Watchmen with the plain old special edition, and Game devs and publishers who complain about Gamestop’s aftermarket profits but still send people into their stores with exclusive DLC.
We’re happy to report that the EpicBattleCry podcast is now available in both audio and video formats in the iTunes store; subscribe today! Remember to sound off below and each week we’ll pick a new comment to become the next Member Battle Cry. Excelsior!

It seems to be a problem with the video… I tryed with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox and I can’t get it working
Video fixed. Thanks for the heads up.
WOW daniels RAP was badass!!!
At the end of the day … your show is still the awesome-est on the net and has a MASSive Effect on me each time.
HAVOK! (is that how you cry it?)
Just recently been watching EBC, one of the best weekly shows I’ve seen.
My battle cry goes out to the developers (and sometimes publishers) that actually take the gamers into consideration and make quality games that are worth playing.
Too many companies are getting caught up in only making games to make tons of money for the least amount of effort and it really shows. Too many people have to think back to “the good old days” when making games was about making a creative quality title worth being proud of.
EPICness was served!
audio download won’t work
Thank you for the Video Pod cast
My Battlecy of the Week goes to the developer and publisher of the inevitable movie tie-in game for the upcoming Tron sequel. Please don’t rush it,please don’t turn it into a paint by numbers developed game, please don’t piss on my childhood. When I saw the light cycle light up and watched it bob and weave freely in the trailer, the drool of possibly playing that in a game is enough to watch it’s development carefully. I’ve dreamt of riding a light cycle ever since the original movie in the 80′s and with current gen tech it would be the closest i’ll ever get. Spread the word to anyone in the business of making games and spread this warning until everyone in the industry gets my message,”Don’t you dare fuck it up. If you do I’m going to go MCP on your ass and beat you to death with my Dayglow frisbee”
For the Game/Movie section you could add Assassins Creed II, which will be having a set of short movies describing the story behind AC II.
First time post up here. That intro SLAYED me! The genuine, unenergetic “ooooh” followed by hard rock basically made me piss my pants. Kudos to you guys!
My battlecry goes out to co-op play in games. I think it’s a great thing for a game to have co-op, at least split-screen. I think that co-op is something that would truely shine and even out shine competitive MP.
My friends have COD:WaW, and they play mostly on the zombie mode, some of them never really touched the MP. I own Resistance 2, and I play the eight-man co-op way more than the actual MP, no matter how huge it was. Then there are games like Left 4 Dead, which focus exclusively on co-op, forgoing MP and even SP, and it did exceptionally well.
Those were just a few examples on how co-op can be the main atraction of games. The fact that less and less games have any kind of co-op play and focus on MP is something that needs to stop.
I completely agree that Gamestop are getting too much exclusive content from publishers.
The most bizarre practice that Gamestop is involved in is to issue demo codes to customers who pre-order games. Traditionally, a demo is intended for people who would like to try a game before they make up their minds whether to invest in their hard earned cash in the game. What is the point of giving a demo to someone who is committing to buying a game with a pre-order?
I realize that many fans of games find it difficult to wait for a game to be released and will do anything to get a early play of their long aviated game. Though the sales hungry publishers and Gamestop should at least call it and tailor the “demo with pre-order” to be a preview or prepay, not a demo.
And please publishers, make demos available to everyone. Yeah, that includes you Sony, Don’t make the Uncharted 2 demo exclusive to Gamestop pre-orders, or else we will all create EU PSN accounts and download the demo from Europe where the Uncharted 2 demo will most likely be free for any PSN user to download.
HINT! Get the Uncharted 2 Demo from EU PSN store without a Gamestop Pre-order!!!
My battlecry of the week goes to Halo haters who claim Microsoft has “sold out” the franchise with the 6 games confirmed so far, an anime series, and a Mountain Dew endorsement.
However, these same people cant explain how the Mario and Final Fantasy franchises havent sold out. Each of these franchises has double the games, has been advertised much more and both even had mediocre to terrible movies. They cry foul when a 6th Halo game is released but continue to support the 13th and 14th Final Fantasy and the 30th Mario game
My battlecry goes ou……well more like future Kodak moment goes out to the midnight release of Modern Warfare 2. Not because we finally get our hands on the game, but to see all the idiots who bought the Prestige Edition game set. Do you know how many gamers are going to be walking out of the local Gamestop wearing night vision goggles? Do you know how many cops are going to have to ticket people at midnight for driving with the lights off because they were trying out their new night vision goggles?
haha had to make a comment…you studied japanese in college to pronounce those names that badly?
my battle cry goes out to this generations ability to patch games and the developers supporting and improving the titles post launch. Not being a PC gamer this is the first game generation that i have been able to experience patches and i think they totally rock. i remember back in the nes and snes days when you bought your game and if there was a problem you would have to wait until the sequel came out and hope it addressed the issues. now patches for games such as LBP, fallout 3 and the recently announced ufc 2009 patch have all served to address problems post purchase and making the games more enjoyable as a result.
My battlecry goes out representitives of the gaming industry.
Over the years gaming has gotten bad attention from media for numerous things, but it seems that there is nobody to represent and defend the gaming industry against the claims and lawsuits which seems unfair as all the other forms of media do. So if there was a representitive who do you think it should be
Well, I would love to see a review on monster hunter freedom unite some time. It’s really a great game, and want to hear what you guys are think. It has kept me entertained for quite some time, recently bought a new psp from a friend, so i picked up the new one. Played it about 30 hours, and do not see signs of slowing down. It just needs some kind of way to play online. Maybe an mmo like they have in japan. Maybe I’m just moody cause i wish I could play a Monster Hunter mmo. :*( Anyways, love the show, only seen like 4-5 episodes at my friends house, just decided to respond. I’ll go back and watch them all. But it’ll take me a while.
Thanks for all the hints and stuff, you guys rock.
-Apaztick
I like it when the people on the interwebs talk about stuff.
My Battle Cry goes out to You Guys!
I thought I was the only one that thinks the New Transformers Movies Are Complete and Utter Shit.
I can now rest easier knowing other people feel the same way. Goddamn Michael Bay. Fucking Douche Bag…
My battle cry goes out to the few PC game-developers left!
Game companies like Valve and Blizzard really make games work on the PC instead of making cheap ports. Other game companies could really learn from these companies how to make PC games work.
For example: lower hardware requirements, lots of patches or even good free DLC support.
I hope move companies pick up the slack and restore PC gaming as it once was. I myself just can’t work with a game controller (not that there is anything wrong with it, but it’s just me).
Rock on!
-Schwick
I thought the film was about the game Warcraft, not WoW.
But in the podcast you say that the game hasn’t really much story to it… but this is not true. Warcraft has a great story, and even WoW has some kind of story.
I can’t really tell since I have only played the 10 (or so) day trial but I could tell it sort of followed Warcraft’s story. I am a Blizzard fan because of other games that aren’t WoW like SC and Diablo and I’m a bit concerned about the movie but I heard that Blizzard is working closely to the film and make sure its worth its name, this makes me a bit relieved.
Anyway, it was kinda funny the part you you said the film was going to be about character creation and sitting in front of the computer all day long xD
Gamestop sucks and I agree movie/games (and game/movies) are starting to get better.
Another great EBC podcast! [[]] (my English sucks, yeah…)
My battle cry goes to all these companies doing great weekend deals in this economy and dry summer.I haven’t had to walk in a gamestop all summer because of these deals, recently got Prince of Persia and Mirror Edge for only 15$ with shipping.Got a bunch of games on steam and direct to drive weekend deals keeping me busy all summer for about the price of 1 game or 1 game special edition.Saying PC gaming is dieing is crazy when you look at those sells #.
My battlecry this week goes out to all the youtube reviewers that have never listened to the sound of their own voice. They must be deaf if they don’t realize that the sound their vocal chords produce is so grating it makes you want to whack a mailbox with a baseball bat. It’s either that, or the mic they used to record their “review” is so cheap it costs more to buy a McChicken.
You guys are like the gameing versions of top gear…. but which one is james may lol keep up the epicness dudes.
Great show, really do prefer this to IW these days. Seem to have better discussions.
Hi guys great show this week! Most funniest I’ve seen so far!
My battlecry of the week goes out to the stupid fuck who came up with the idea to have black background and white text on your website!
When I’ve read one of your reviews or other kind of stuff with white text and black background I can’t see!
I you guys are awesome but it’s redicolous that I can’t read any stuff you wrote because I can barly see anything after that!
My battlecry goes out to those who wield the EPIC BATTLEAXE
To those people who say their opponion and bringing news and details about the thing we cherish. It’s to those people who cut the crap away, if it gets too covered in sh*t. Saying your frank oppinion about topics like gamestop and the ESRB (Invisble Walls) with an approach that has the essence of what gaming is all about – fun. Giving probs to the developers/publishers/retailers who actually does a great job – and swinging the axe at those who defiles our industry.
In my oppinion all publishers/developers/retailers should listen to podcasts like epicbattlecry, so that both the consumers and the companys can get a fair deal. Sites like epicbattleaxe is gamers microphone. Of course it’s important to gain profit and competition is good for the business – but what is gaming without fun? Gaming isn’t about bragging about your console, greed or exclusive deals.
You, EpicBattleAxe, have made me realize this. I pray that you’ll convince all the others. While it sucks to wait for a game to release, it’s fucking awesome to know that theres only a week between a hilarious and awsome episode of EPICBATTLECRY.
(Imagine if MAC users had the exclusive deal of an addional episode each weak? Yeah, it’s just as stupid as the rest)
My BattleCry goes to this podcast being touted as now available in video form and this being true EXCEPT for this very latest Skirmish, which sort of defeats the purpose of it. If the video podcast isn’t available the same day as the video on the site, what purpose does it serve?
First, great show and awesome job!
My battle cry goes to the people who are trying to redefine the term ‘gamer’. A ‘gamer’ is a gamer and there is nothing more to it. If a person buys a game, puts it in their designated console to play the game, and gives time and effort to playing that game, that person is a gamer. Just like the dictionary says, ‘gamer: a person who plays games’. People try to stereotype gamers but a person who plays games does not need to know who developed the game and such information. As long as he is ‘playing’ the game, that person is a gamer. It does not matter what gender, culture or what type of person you are, or how much information you know about the gaming industry. You spent the money into an entertainment product and are having fun with it, I think that is what the developers intended to do so that is all to it. Surely, the developers love the feedback from the users but at the same time, they love the money too. So, it does not matter what type of ‘gamer’ you are. As long as you play games, you are a gamer. That’s all for me.
Our feed suffered a slight meltdown earlier today. The problem’s been fixed on our end and now its a waiting game for iTunes to refresh its cache.
My Battle Cry goes out to the developers of BlazBlue. No offense against Street Fighter fans, but I consider this the successor to Guilty Gear. I haven’t spent so much time or had so much fun playing a fighting game since GG, and I believe it will be a long time in coming before a game can take BB’s place in my heart. Not only is the gameplay fun as hell, but the graphics on the characters and the backgrounds are superior, and the music has this cool feel to it that really compliments the fast paced gameplay. Also, the sheer amount of different moves and combos you can pull off make you feel like a badass when you do them right. If every developer put this much heart into their games, then I would be even more broke than I am now.
My battlecry goes out to Daniel who didn’t say “at the end of the day” in this episode!
My battle cry goes out to this podcast and the unholy words that are “At the end of the F*cking day” and “You F*cking know!”. What happened to “Cutting through the crap to give you the gaming news that matters”, it’s obviously been changed to “Cutting the jock strap of milo so so we’ll get some youth action!” I know your trying to be funny, but come on! I want gaming news, with a dash of swedish death metal! And at the end of the day, you guys make a great podcast, ya know.
My Battlecry goes out to the publishers/developers who all battle to take our money in the upcoming holidays seasons, surely they must understand that there is no such thing as a “money tree”.Brutal Legend,Uncharted 2, Dragon Age Orgins, Mass Effect 2, Modern Warfare 2 Prestige(Night vision Goggles ensures that mostly everyone will buy prestige; everyones child inside is leaping with joy). All the games basically come out around the same time making most people who no longer get gifts on holidays, open up their wallets and cringe. Seriously developers and publishers I ask you the simple question of why? There robbing our money in broad daylight, a man such as myself doesnt have the money to afford all the new games coming out, they should take a lesson from battlefield 1943 and throw a curve, in which I mean releasing a game in the drought, til next time that is all FatalDesiqn signing out!
“Sorry Mom looks like Santa is a bit broke this year.”
Great show guys, as ever!
Regarding GTA4 DLC topic, could you tell me if those 2 DLCs will be available also for PS3?
Another thing: could you be so kind and explain those guys from Invisible Walls how to make an INTERESTING podcast, because if they continue with those crappy topics they’re discussing as of late, they’ll really become INVISIBLE to me, at least. Thanks in advance.
Speaking of 20+ year old properties getting a videogame tie-in, my Battle Cry goes out to ask some gutsy developer, willing to take a risk, to get off its ass and make a Flash Gordon game.
Saw that movie for the first-time since I was five, and then again the next day, a couple weeks ago and it brought back great memories.
The universe is not just about shooting ghosts with proton packs, the variety is there in full force: an airborne siege switching to a stealth mission in Emperor Ming’s palace involving beat-em-up, quasi-football-esque combat and explosions of plasma energy.
Make it over-the-top like God Hand or Devil May Cry and I’m sold, easy.
As long as there’s sub-par games out there the second-hand market will always thrive. Uncharted 2 will certainly be a day-one purchase for me, I loved the first and 2 seems to have built on it in every single way with a longer campaign and online multiplayer. But even Uncharted was a second-hand sale for me, there was no way i was going to shell out full price for a 10 hour long game with no online multiplayer! Games need to offer value for money if they want people to buy them brand new.
And now they even have the cheek to release games, and within the same or following week they’re already releasing DLC packs that also cost money! If they had the DLC ready so soon, why wasn’t it in the game to begin with?
I’d be much happier buying brand new games if i didn’t feel like i was being constantly ripped off.
My Epic Battle Cry goes out to DLC and how amazing it is getting. Going into this generation, I saw there being no honest to god purpose to jump from the Xbox, PS2, and GCN to the 360, PS3, and Wii. At first I thought it was going to be motion control, but once Nintendo started making millions off casual games like Wii Fit and never making an honest to god new hardcore franchise using the motion control, I sorta gave up on that.
HOWEVER, as soon as excellent DLC started coming out on the 360 like the Penny Arcade Adventures, Battlefeild 1943, and Sam & Max and the great re-releases of classics like Castlevania: SotN and the huge line-up of excellent Xbox/PS Original titles, PLUS all the expansive new content for games like GTA4, Fallout 3, and Burnout Paradise, I was sold forever on the concept of DLC. I have spent more time as of late with games I downloaded than any recently released Generic Warfare or Fail-o clones out there.
With great titles like Shadow Complex and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on the way, as well as who knows how many add-ons to games coming out or are out, I see this as probably the great innovation that console gaming has seen in years.
My battlecry goes out to the developers and publishers that realease games in europe at the same time as America. We europeans are getting f%cked up because North America get the games at a decent release date while we europeans have to wait even a whole year to even play the damn game. I respect the publishers and developers that also consider europeans as gamers and also give them games at a decent release. to name a game where we had quite the wait is tales of vesperia for the xbox 360 where as in america almost has the game for about 6 months (if not longer) we even havent seen the light of the damn game ;/ i think it is a real shame to developers and publishers not to consider europe in their release date of some games and that is why i have so much respect towards game publishers and developers that actually DO release games in europe in time.
My Battle Cry this week goes out to gamers getting screwed by Activision.
Their is a long list of stuff that I hate Activision for but their latest stunt is by far the worst. Activision has raised the price of Modern Warfare 2 in a bunch of territories as well charging $60 USD for the PC version. If gamers go out and buy Modern Warfare 2 at these raised prices it opens up a opportunity for all publishers to rise game prices in all territories.
Activision is taking gamers wallets for granted and we need to show them that what they are doing is bullshit. Can you say boycott?
My Epic Battle Cry goes out to whoever finds the funny pics that pop up in the video podcast. When you consider the billions upon billions of pictures on the web, the ability to always find a funny real picture or funnier shopped picture that goes along witht he converstaion never fails to amuse me.
Here are a few suggestions for Brent Adam’s introductions.
“Salutations! My buddies in Baby Punting!”
“Greetings! My Acquaintances in Abortion-having!”
“Huzzah! My Sidekicks of Slaughter!”
“Behold! My Colleagues of Colon-Munching!”
“Indeed! My Roommates of Ravaging!”
“Exuberance! My Allies of Atrocity!”
I tried. Don’t make fun of me too hard, I’m new to the thesaurus.
My Battle Cry goes out to Daniel Kayser’s forthcoming album, it gon’ be off the chain dawg you feel me?! holla!
Actually no, it goes out to gaming, the popular culture and what it does to my social life.
When I don’t play games or read about them, I’m a socially competend guy. My parents were ashamed of me because I played games, and I’ve been left by many women because I play games. While all this has been remedied, I wish I could have merely liked gaming instead of adored gaming. It’s like an abusive husband that is great when he’s sober, but terrible when he’s drunk. You wish you could listen to your girlfriends and just go, but you know deep down he’s still the man you knew when you were young. And you love him, whether he hits you or not, you just wish he didn’t hit you*.
*Not gay, just an analogy. Oh… the bruises? What bruises?… I was playing basketball and… I’m very bad at basketball…
my battlecry goes out to fans, like myself, of games like littlebigplanet. games where you can be creative at extreme detail, and share that with others. LBP got alot of love, and i cant believe there arent already more games following in its foot steps, especially since thats typically how it goes in the game business.
My battlecry this week goes out to all the masses who aparently can’t read (and to the battle axe team as well) and the warcraft movie (that was mentioned in this podcast). Let me make this in bold : WARCRAFT MOVIE- there’s no “world of” in there, morons! The Warcraft universe has mountains of lore before WoW. The movie is not WoW – the movie is a tale in the world that the game is based in.
Heys guys kudos on another cool show.
My battlecry goes out to Infinity Ward. They decided to raise the price for Modern Warfare 2 for some lame-ass reason we all know is fake because the real reason is they know its going to probably be the biggest seller of the year and they just want to take advantage of their huge fan base.
Fans however didn’t feel like being ass-raped for the extra 10 bucks or euros or pounds or whatever so they raised a complaint and proposed a boicott on the game. Not a full boicott as in “lets not buy the game” but something on the line of “we’ll wait until its cheaper”. And lo and behold, a couple of days after that , Infinity Ward publishes a video on the net with never seen before multiplayer footage. Was this a coincidence? Hardly. IMO they are trying to quench the protest before it gains any strength, and that’s really adding insult to injury.
Sad part is, they’ll probably get away with it as players are so eager to get this game they’d probably sell their own mothers to get it.
Hey Broskis,
My Battle Cry goes out to all the great concept artist out there creating kick-ass characters, creatures and worlds. It is their creations that come to life in a game. 2d concept art has the potential to inspire the developers with new ideas and atmosphere.
Don’t get me wrong, all other members of a development team deserve their very own battle cries. However, the role concept art plays in the development of a game is a fundamental one, so this one is for them.
Concept artist, hell yea!
My battle cry goes out to how alike the f*ckin game publishers and movie publishers are alike. They both want to control everything about a project and its bullsh*t. How about get off the developers back and let them make a good game/tie-in that way we are all f*ckin happy. Its bullsh*t how so many of the publishers, aka Activision, completely f-up a game or its future just so they can feel like they’re even needed.
[...] after listening to this week’s episode of EpicBattleCry I found myself struggling to pick a topic for this, my inaugural article. I was struggling not [...]
My battle cry goes out to Capcom who slashed Street fighter 4′s price tag on ps3/360 to 20$ to rival gamestop’s used game price of 35$ on Street Fighter 4, I already have a copy but kudos to capcom for taking action while giving gamers an awsome deal!
My Battle Cry goes out to game publishers and the controller layouts… I think its time that game publishers got together and set out a basic controller setup guidelines for FPS(and other games if possible)… I’m not saying for every button or that it should be the same across all platforms…. Mainly the most used buttons such as Look Down Sight/Zoom, Crouch, Jump and Melee and maybe Throw Grenade.
Doing this would allow you to go between games like Halo 3 and COD 4 much easier(which will stop you from pushing the wrong buttons for the 1st hour lol)…. I know you can some times set to similar configurations in some games but most of the time you still have 2 or 3 buttons out of whack…
PS Best game talk show round nice work
My battle cry goes to battlefield heroes the game, its a great online game and should follow the example of BF 1943 and get it launched for PSN and XBL
My battlecry goes out to all those game developers out there that are developing games with shiny bloom effects and nice graphics, but really slow framerate! I personally take lesser better graphics just to avoid that the framerate suffers. The game is not graphically advanced if it is slow and lags!
My battle cry goes out as a thank you to all game publishers and producers who continue to create compilation disks with all the best classic games. Also a BIG thank you to systems like Xbox live arcade and Wiiware for continuously bringing out old classics and new downloads (in classic format). In doing this, they allow older gamers to relive their youth and also show the young gamers the history behind their habit. It gives you a great appreciation of where gaming is now when you’re playing a classic like Doom, Worms, TMNT Arcade or Contra.
My epic battle cry goes out to activision.
Activison has been acting like pussy’s ever since they releshed call of duty 4, now all they want to do is try and get as much money as they want to.
E.g call of duty: world at war. the law suit agaist EA for relasing brutal legend the same mouth as guitar hero 5, pushing back singlity because their scared of Mordern warfare 2.
The list could go on forever.
I hope that gamer’s will see that fact as soon as possilbe, because none of my friends can see that they are becoming like EA, in the way that the game’s they release will lose their kwality every year untill it becomes like the need for speed franchie where they will not know what to do with, and will disapoint all it’s fans.
I really do not want that to happen, but i think it’s starting to reach that piont.
My battle cry goes out to the PS3 gamers who bitch about install time on the PS3, and that they don’t need to install Uncharted 2,and it also goes out to all console gamers overall for being spoild when it comes to installation .. I’ve always done most of my gaming on my PC, and Installing a game has always been a part of the prosess, Like when i got World of warcraft, or fallout 3 it take about 30 mins to install ( + patching) and have to change some CDs,but I have never looked at it as a down side, I rather enjoy installing, Relaxing, reading through the manual, reading one more time on the backside of the coverbox, It just makes me even more excited, but I guess a console gamer won’t understand this..
But I’m happy for the PS3 gamer that don’t need to wait 15 mins before playing your most likely favorite game ,Uncharted 2.
god damn, install time is nothing , go take a shitbreak, or make your self some food, they used many years on making a awesome game , and you can’t wait for a install?! gawd…You CAN do other things then watch the install bar struggle for those 100%..
Hey Guys,
My battle cry goes out to the makers of MLB 2k9. It sucks, and I still don’t think its been said enough. There are talks about no more patchs or anything for the game because they are moving on to 2k10 and i donot approve of that i spend $60 on 2k9. We are not your game testers. If the game is not ready dont release it. You abandoned all the 360 owners. They make us spens our hard earned money on an unfinished game its ridicolous. I have never played a game with so many mistakes as this. This is not the type of game MLB fans deserve. If your not gnna put out a quality title then give the rights back to EA.
My battle cry goes out to pricing on video games. I recently watched the review of The King Of Fighters XII on Gametrailers and for the content that your getting in that game compared to a title like Gears Of War or Killzone is pathetic. We all know that most kids titles and movie licensed titles are a quick cash in but I wouldn’t call KOF XII a quick cash in. It just isn’t worth the $60 dollar price tag…perhaps a $30 one.
my battle cry goes out to capcom for finally releasing mavel vs capcom 2 for dlc this is the right way to do a game port it may have come out already 9 years ago but capcom felt the need to not change the game play at all they let every cheat in it not even trying to change the balance every person plays the same and makes it fun and adding online and at for 15 bucks its worth it ! would pay full price for a game this good thx capcom
My battle cry goes out to SEGA, specifically Sega America’s Ray Almeda after telling The Examiner that they would not release a copy of Yakuza 3 to the US.
What in the blue f*#k are they thinking ?_? I’d rather see that game ported over rather than having another sh*%ty Sonic game shoved down our throats. Get your f*#ckin act together SEGA and stop pulling this kind of stupid crap.
Edit: Turns out the prick wasn’t speaking on behalf of SEGA and instead was just spouting off stupid sh*t. The guy should be fired for being a dumbass.
Side Note: Just recently started watching your shows, think it’s great. Once I heard about this bit of news I figured it was the best reason for me to start an account here seeing is how you give the little guy a voice so I figured I’d try it out. Hell even a small mention from you guys about this news in your next podcast will be more than enough thanks. You guys rock.
My Epic Battle Cry this week,
To Infinity Ward for making the awesome prestidge edition for modern warefare 2 exclusive for consoles……….No, I am sorry I can’t do this, this is Demon dried Sh*t! After reading a IGN article about the fact that the prestidge edition is not being availale for PC gamers, really yanked my chain! No wait there is more, PC gamers are not even going to get a collector’s edition! Let alone the prestidge edition.
I see this time and time, where developers are making exclusive things for specifc gaming platform, and not offering it up for every platform. If you are going to make a game for all platforms, then all platforms should have the same content, features, and special editions.
The hardest thing to crasp is that my gut instinct tells me that Infinity ward is doing this because their marketing team believes that they will make more sales on the console then the PC, thus excluding the goodies for PC gamers, and that is something I totally disagree with.
Awesome episode great job!And i liked the ending quote from Watchmen
“I’m not locked in here with you, you’re locked in here with me! “
my battle cry of the week goes out 2 sony and how F up they are by banding my psn account because my id Bxni66a is offensive after me having it for over a year now all my hard work trophies are gone man this sucks
My Battle Cry goes to microsoft, wich just could not keep the avatar clothes free, i know microsoft have reputation to charge for everything, map packs, themes and to freaking play games with others onling!
So i want microsoft to tell me why we pay for xbox live gold and almost never get anything for free.
Maybe it’s just me, but when i play valve games on Pc they never charge for anything (buying the game is enough) all of does Team Fortress 2 updates were free!!. Yes i know microsoft needs to make a profit, but c’mon clothes for your avater!!!
you get a “HI” from Denmark
My Battle Cry goes out to Microsoft and their lame avatar update.
Microsoft needs to get off their lazy @ss, take that mountain of money
their sitting on and get more creative with their avatars.
I mean more clothes? And now that they actually get some cool clothing out they charge?
And what’s up with the trinkets? Who want’s to pay for a remote control
warthog or a parrot?
Microsoft needs to create some type of social environment like Playstation’s Home.
With all the money that we pay for gold accounts we should get something really
creative and cool.
First comment on show, great show though guys.
My battle cry goes go out to the post-poning of games to prevent getting overlooked this holiday season. Well now I’m wondering if the games being delayed till Q1 will get delayed till Q2 because of the competition created from delayed games of holiday season 2009. Bioshock 2, Dark Void, Splinter Cell, and Bayonetta are just a couple of these games planned to release in Q1. Do you believe that some games from Q1 one will now be pushed back because of the high amount of games releasing? Do you think this could lead to a more even year of high quality titles releasing throughout the year?
My battle cry goes out to the price hike of modern warfare 2 in the uk. It just feels like dick move to try and get us to pay £55 ($90) and recently i have read a statement from Chris Deering, who was the former sony europe boss, saying “blockbuster games should be £70″. This translates to around $115. All i can say is what the fuck have we done to piss them off. There is no justifiable reason for all of this bullshit. I understand that it must be expensive to make a game like that but its not like they are skint. They sold millions of coppies of COD4 and i would have thought they would have a great big fat pile of money to use. I could go on about this but i think you get the idea of this battle cry.
in short stop the fucking bullshit with the price, if they think i am going to spend that much on a game then they can forget about it.
well the games here (holland) cost 65 euro ($95) and it has been that way since 1998 (even tho we didnt have euro’s at that time the value of the money was the same) so i think you kinda overeacting on this point. so what the games are being a bit more expencive the delevopers also need to make money and yah i know that cod has great sale numbers but what would you do if you had a great company and the financials are low because of the crisis? yep you would raise those prices because you KNOW customers gonna buy it anyway. if you dont want to pay a bit more money to play your games then go do something else and let the gameworld alone.
My battlecry goes out to the Wii’s game developers.
And what got me consirned was that: are Wii game developers running out of ideas? I mean they have been coming up with very stupid ideas of games for example “Walk It Out”. Why are they trying to put real life into a game, thats just not possible. The developers who came up with that idea, must have been high.
Now with the wii motion plus beging out they should start puting more effort on the hardcore games (like “Red Steel 2″ looks pretty intresting), becoz many hardcore gamers have propably bought the wii(due its low price), and it would get Wii a couple more bucks in theyr pockets.
And im so looking foreworth for the secual of “Walk it out”, “Walk It Out 2: Run”
Got a question.
Towards the end of this episode during the member of the week battlecry, there’s some game footage shown, with a human looking guy hiding behind some crates, and a big alien mosnter walking in with a big gun, and two small goblin looking creatures. Which game is that from ?
My Battlecry goes out to all the ps3 players who do not use the cod4 hacks and still play the game fair. With all the hackers out there now on the ps3 its is hard tryng to find a lobby with out hackers. Many of my friends have left cod4 and gone to cod5 due to this matter. I hope Infinity Ward does something about but its very unlikely due to ther programmers working on Modern Warfare 2.
Got it, thanks.
My battle cry goes out to the guys at Starbreeze Studios.
They implemented a “Commentary Mode” into Assault on Dark Athena which still was pretty lackluster but reminded me of the good old DVD days where i enjoyed watching the movie a second time while listening to the director and producer ranting about the professionality of the actors.
In all seriousness i think a “Commentary Mode” could be a great addition to any game out there to give it a greater replay value and a special gift to the fans who want to know more about the given game.
Take care guys
you rock
My battle cry goes out to ourselves.
Here we are ranting about casual games as if most of the publishers really listen to us. On board these publisher companies are a group of highly trained warpi- I mean professionals specializing in not listening to our demands (“serious” gamers alike) but rather looking upon the side which returns the most profit (casual gamers) or just continue churning out sequels or movie/comic adaptation of games that already has its follower or maybe even copying a hit game via their own “unique game style”. Now, us, having to watch shows like yours know and are completely aware of this situation and though we know we will remain distant voices to these game companies, will keep on ranting, despite us knowing what that is to come for our gaming future, that is filled with sequels, adaptions and copycats.
Nonetheless, cheers to the few games that actually still allows us to have interesting conversations and those who made your journalism career much more colorful.
Hopefully there will be more companies that makes money for their passion of games, not makes games for their passion of money.
Godspeed

My EPIC Battle cry goes to PC gaming.
Everybody says that PC gaming is dead, most of us would agree on that. But it’s only withering, waiting to die ’cause of the game companies like Infinity wards not publishing special editions and so forth. It’s nowdays more likely you get the exclusive big deal in Console side of things than in the PC.
Why? One thing is fact, it’s not piratism. The game companies that have left us PC gamers to wither is to blame, as there’s no Exclusive deals in PC gaming nowdays. What I mean is that when you publish a game that’s going to hit the PC aswell, you would still benefit more out of exclusive deals in console side ’cause of the exclusive contents and so forth. And the PC side? We’re getting blamed on low sales due piratism.
For example, the infinity wards Modern Warfare 2 with the night vision gogles… How on earth you going to pirate that? Download the blueprints to the gogles illegally?
F that.
We’re dying here, slowly… Only things keeping us alive is the far superior controls and mod communities.
Throw us a bone every now and then and you may see a new dawn of PC gaming. That is all.
DF from Finland. (So excuse my english.)
i understand what your saying but why should i “leave the gameworld alone” i’m not going to quit gaming because the price of a game is too high.
Iv just reading Marvel comics and loving it cant wait to rip Ironman nuts off with STAN THE MAN-LEE!!! but my Battle Cry goes out to game developers that fix the fucking damn game before release, and a big FUCK YOU to games like Fallout 3 even though part of me really loves it (BrockenSteel Lookout point ) but the bugs make it unplayable and there on there 5th DLC are you fucking me ? but the one I want to mention is Valve and Left 4 Dead. they are on there 2nd game yet major bugs still prevail Im talking about beating down garage doors to by-pass a wave of zombies and let’s not forget the ROCK and the JESUS ROOM..im tired of fucking RAMBOING the ENTIRE FUCKING ZOMBIE APOCALOPS while im being called a pussy just because I wont get gay with them as they complete the stage and receive the “acheivment” for the 100th time…. .
PS GRATZ your trailer was pure epic did we see weather changing or map changin no all we saw was the same fucking game plus daylight hillbilly zombies and..(going on abit I know) melee WEAPONS!! and your wondering why so many people are pissed how about for meleeing in genreal you make it so 2 people can’t keep back the legions of the undead by spaming the RB button in the womens bathroom or the SPARTAN SHILED tactic such as the hospital elevator part of NO MERCY. FIX MOTHERFUCKING GAMES is it that hard to iron them out how many other products could get away with this like a video with bad sound that not intune with the actors lips or a cd that has static in the background FUCK NO youd demand a refund the very same day so why are we being there fucking bitches GAME OF THE YEAR my hary zombie killing balls
My EPIC battle cry goes out to the fanboy/fangirl that wrote “Stop Voldemort” on eighty road signs in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin with a sharpie, causing around $6,000 or so in damages. Wow, I mean the movie was good and all, just that is that really the best way to show your appreciation for Hairy Pothead’s magical shenanigans? I mean, of all of the things to geek out about, you chose Harry Potter? And Road signs?
I would’ve suggested having just a bunch of Potter fans parade through the streets with broomsticks and lighters/molotov cocktails. Hilarity would’ve at least been ensued! At least we would have a good youtube video…
posted twice for w/e reason…sorry about that
well i said let the gameworld alone
but aside that you basicaly say that if the price of games are gonna be higher you dont buy the games anymore that seems to me that you are not going to game if the price is higher then you are used to. that is what i meant with that comment
