45 mins of goodness, keep it coming:)
Great intro…unless you are Japanese, hehe.
My epicbattlecry goes out to sony just because of the fact that they’re bullshitting us with the PSP GO, the only thing they did is they labeled a PSP with another name and suddenly it’s a whole different fucking thing, they’re forcing you to buy 2 PSP’s that are almost the same as eachother because the PSP GO will have games for that console only and the PSP will also have games for that console only
Dare i say it? oh yeah! if you really want the PSP(GO) just download an emulator don’t believe the bullshit they’re throwing at you, spare yourself the money and embarassment that you get when you realise you just bought the same thing you already had, ROCK ON!
My epic battle cry goes out to the folks at Rocksteady. Batman: Arkham Asylum is an amazing game and it just goes to show you that you don’t need multiplayer to be a great game. It’s a game that as soon as I beat it I wanted to play it again, and it had a great pace, graphics, story, voice acting/ sound, atmosphere etc. Also, for putting out free quality dlc. P.S. keep up the great work. You guys are hilarious!
I think ps2 titles on the psn is pretty cool. Some titles are hard to find in disc format, so hopefully those will be on psn. And for the ones i already have, well, i still got my ps2.
Hey, awsome episode! I don’t mind DK’s puns, they keep me crackin’ up during the episode.
My battle cry this week would be to expand on the jack-assery of Sony and the PS2 emulator.
I will give it to Sony that it would be cool to download PS2 titles that are no longer easily available on disk. I am only a recent gamer that didn’t become super interested until this console cycle (while only having a few sporadic games from PS1 and PS2). It’s a great idea for gamers like me to go back and download titles that as yet do not have a ‘greatest hits’ re-release to buy on store shelves.
However, I agree with you guys that it’s a bunch of bullsh-t that the quality titles that I already own a ‘greatest hits’ version of (Devil May Cry, God of War 2, etc) wouldn’t be playable on disk. Sony is already going to have the emulator for the downloads so I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to add the extra line of code to read the PS2 data from a disk in a firmware patch.
It’s also still a double dose of crap because what if I have obscure games that I would like to play on my PS3 that just wouldn’t see a digital release? Especially, if/when Sony decides to stop manufacturing the PS2 and it gets to the point I can’t get a new one if it dies.
Sad panda
My Battle Cry goes out to Blizzard entertainment. As a huge fan of Warcraft 3 and Starcraft I firmly believe that Blizzard is one of the smartest gaming companies in the world. From what I can tell Blizzard made 5 extremely popular games (Warcraft 3, Diablo 1 & 2, Starcraft, WoW) and they just keep delivering. Sure Starcraft 2 is taking forever, but unlike Resident Evil 5 they haven’t shown us the entire game to keep up the hype. They’ve leaked a few trailers some new gameplay mechanics which is great. Not only is it awesome to see stuff like that but it also keeps the hype up, like they get some new gameplay footage out people are like “woah that’s awesome, can’t wait” but then nothing new comes out for a while and they drop it, THEN something new and awesome comes out to bring up the anticipation. I’ve looked at plenty or trailers for it and I really haven’t seen many that repeat themselves (like RE5) just shows how much common sense they have. There isn’t even a release date for Starcraft because they don’t want to make false promises. In this skirmish you guys talked about PC gamers getting screwed up the ass. Well Blizzard makes all their games for PC. Let me repeat that, ALL THEIR GAMES ARE FOR PC! yeah exactly. And I find it freakin sad that only one company has enough common sense to keep delivering on great games. That’s my epic battle cry for the day, keep one with the fat cleaving.
peace!

hey guys so i thought id try to focus more on a specific game than the whole industry.
my battle cry goes out to borderlands and gearbox
this game is a brilliant blending of game genres and looks fucking awesome
also you gotta give it up to gearbox and randy pitchford, while all these titles are moving to Q1 borderlands is gunna stand its ground against the massive sequels of the 2009 holiday, i was gunna say borderlands and alpha protocol but hell even alpha protocol has moved, so yea i thought if this was your member battle cry of the week, it might help the game sell that much more. gearbox deserves it, you brought up how borderlands screwed its pc gamers, but thats not true, it is being released only a week later and is coming with lots of new goodies such as being able to download your gear into jpeg files and share them with your friends. so yeah i jsut though that this game really deserves some more attention going up against all the upcoming sequels and i really hope it sells well
thanks
My Battle Cry goes out to EA’s recent bullshit.
I create my skater, notice the “power ups”, think cool. Start my BAP, few games in, check out the power ups again.
Notice I’m not playing Be A Pro, instead, I’m playing Buy a Pro.
There’s micro payments for everything. The kit you can unlock, the power upgrades, booster packs…. It’s just fucking ridiculous.
This isn’t the only game they’re doing this in, literally all the newer EA games have some sort of micropayments in them. Don’t feel like earning the new car? Buy it with real money!
You can even buy two achievements in NHL10 (+2 skates / gloves) – it’s a joke.
My Epic Battle Cry goes out to all hardware and game companies who rape europe for money.
if a game in the states costs 60 dollars than here in europe it’ll cost 60 euros, that’s 87 dollars!
PS3 too, 300 dollars in the states and 300 euros here, that’s 435 dollars.
My battlecry goes to last week’s battlecry and Ubisoft’s dissapointing AC2 delay. For last week’s battlecry, I find it a misguided idea. Here’s why, getting a demo early and exclusively because you pre-ordered a game should not exist… ever, just release the damn demo’s to the masses. Also, for AC2, does anyone remember a few years ago with Assassin’s creed 1? How it got delayed on the pc by 6 or so months? Ubisoft is at it again. Is it really that hard to program games on pc these days?
My battle cry goes out to DJ Hero and Im in Digital Love with this game because Daft Punk is going to be in the game which Robot Rocks and I just want to Touch it because daft punk makes such awesome music and the game itself is looking very Technologic with the new controls I just hope it doesn’t Short Circuit but we wont know until were actually Face To Face with the game. It just seems Activision is working Harder Better Faster Stronger to keep the Hero franchise alive and well. I can not wait for DJ hero to release Around the world I hope its not Too Long until this awesome game is released.
It’s cool for new gamers i’ll give you that, but for all the people that still have a large PS2 (even PS1) libraries this is beyond f’ed up. You could have had the downloadable game service with backward compatibility for all the people that have stuck with Playstation, but this whole trend of re-selling titles sucks. We are being suckered with all the explanations and excuses from Sony on why BC is not a possibility, but it’s just a scam to make a shit load of money. Their doing the same crap with the PSPgo/UMD fiasco and there trying to shaft everyone with their blatant disregard to their faithful consumers. By making their new products incompatible with their older software but reselling the same incompatible software at pretty much the same initial price is just evil. Unfortunately people will take it making the rest of us damned if we don’t/raped if we do.
one thing with the GOW demo… i don’t think most people know that it is PURE fan service…as in Sony took a survey and people responded with the first two and a demo for the third…
we need to get theses facts strait. This is EXACTLY what the fans asked for…( and you know the demo will be available else where )
oh yea, shut up dk lol
My battle cry is having to do with PC gaming (in case u haven’t figured out by my user name, PS WTB Wing Commader VI) has to deal with micro transactions on our platform. Do they really expect pc gamers to go by the same console crap by having to pay for map packs and such, when A your game is dam plays more like a console game then a pc game (cough Cough WOLF and FEAR2), B having to deal with DRM, and C with micro transaction on top of a monthly fee in MMOs! we have already seen SOE do it with EQ and EQ2, and now champions online which they werent up front with at all until a month and half near launch
I do not think the downloable ps2 games is going to use ps2 emulation, but more likely a a rebuild of the game to work on ps3 hardware, which is what i think the God of War collection is doing. Because it was just an exact rehash ps2 game then what would prevent you from putting the ps2 disc in the console if it can already play it, and read dvd disc?
about the psp go, I do agree it sucks not being able to transfer UMDs at this time, but i think they are thinking of a way to prevent umd sharing or just sharing the umd rips/ like how there is no way to prevent cds or cd rips from being shared in the music industry. so far they may develop something to prevent umd rips from being shared but no way to prevent the physical umd from being shared.
My battle cry goes out to Infinity Ward / Activision. We all know Modern Warfare 2 will be an amazing game, and I will definitely buy it. But now I have to choose between the PC version (which I will enjoy more) or the 360 version (which will be much better supported.) I shouldn’t have to choose between two versions of the game! Im still going to buy the product, why can’t even version be equal?!
Daniel you stole my battle cry from skirmish 45, I DEMAND CREDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL
Yeah! Witcher mention! Kisses, Kaiser!
Hey guys, great episode! Before I talk about my Cry, I have to mention this- you guys say “asinine” way too many times. Use a thesaurus. Geez.
My EpicBattleCry is about how PC games and Console games aren’t really united together. Take a game like the Call of Duty series. The online community for the 360 versions will be far greater than that of the PC version, but the PC version has the more superior (in my opinion) control scheme, thus making gamers choose between the two.
Using a mediocre game like the remake of Shadowrun, that game had the full online community of PC gamers and 360 gamers alike, with cross-platform gameplay over Windows and Xbox Live. Although the sales of Shadowrun were pretty fail, it was still innovative in the sense that it brought both versions together to play online. The online games these days need more cross-platform play like that. What’s better is that the developers only host one master server, and it saves them money! It just makes no sense that not that many games are implementing that. It’s beneficial all-round.
My Battlecry goes out to the dumb fuck(s) who does the marketing for games these days. It has got to be the same marketing team for every single thing, seriously.
There is no way there are multiply companies that does the same thing.
It’s been talked on the show about how pre-ordering (X) game gives you a demo early for that game, alright. But it angers me immensely how dumb these people are.
How does these people still have a job?
Furthermore, collectors editions and pre-order bonuses.
Can’t they make something worthwile? A fuckin’ pair of toy nightgoggles? Really? A making behind the game DVD? Wooptie-fucking-doo! A figurine? You seriously want me to pay an extra 20 bucks for a effin’ FIGURINE!?
Where is good stuff? A free DLC level? An extra(or special) gun? Something practical either IRL or in-game! I don’t need a Master Chief helmet on my bookshelf gathering dust. Forza Motorsport 3 for example gives you a 2gig USB drive and exlusive cars made by the developers. Aion had a special Title, Colors, two dances and a pair of special wings. These are practical things that does not give you an advantage ingame.
Marketing team/developers; Take your nightgoggles and put them on your Master Chief helmet and ducktape the Assassins Creed Figurine ontop of that and show it up where the sun don’t shine.
My Battle Cry goes to Sony (DONT THINK HES A SONY FANBOY JUST YET THE SHITTY PART IS COMING IN A SECOND). First off congrats to them for finally lowering the price of the PS3 (£250) and im am about to buy with my next pay check, HOWEVER they are also being money grabbing arseholes. As i said above the PS3 retail price is currently £250, but guess how much the PSP GO is priced in the UK, £225 (equivelent to $350)!! Thats £25 less the the fucking PS3. It should be cheaper than the PSP 3000 due to the lower production costs for Sony as it has no UMD drive. Sony have issued a statement themselves that basically said: Europeans can pay more because they “understand the value” better than other countries outside of Europe. So basically saying we can pay more, because we WILL pay more. This along with downloading PS2 games that you mentioned in the last episode Sony have done a piss poor job of looking after their customers, I probably have about 25 PS2 and PS1 games which i will now have to buy again to play when i get my PS3.
To sum it up, Sony stop shitting on UK (and Europian) gamers by over charging us for your products and at least give some credit and appreciation to gamers who have supported you since the early days of the PS1 and put some backwards compatibility in your console.
Thanks and keep up the great show.
Daniel Keyser, your “quips” in general tend to cater to the lowest denominator of humor, and I have begrudgingly come to accept this reality. However, as an Asian American who watches this show on a weekly basis, I’d like to state that you’ve done a stellar job of alienating/offending myself along with a community of viewers with your poorest and most ignorant attempt at humor yet(see introduction). As if exploiting racial/ethnic stereotypes is somehow in vogue, your level of hubris defies basic sensibilities coming off the heels of TGS and working in an industry that was in essence founded and sustained by those you seek to ridicule. Whether or not there is a critical mass that has or will likewise post their discontent with your display of ignorance, the critique remains justified despite the fact that your best friend/co-worker/adopted cousin/plebian gt/epicbattleaxe member who happens to be Asian found it to be “hilarious”.
My battlecry goes out to all you PS3 fanboys out there..
A Norwegian gamereviewer gave Uncharted 2 a 7/10 rating and this is how you react http://n4g.com/ps3/NewsCom-403174.aspx?CT=1#Comments
It’s funny how no one is allowed an opinion these days.
[...] the entire first chapter shows up on YouTube (which I didn’t watch). Daniel brought it up on Episode 46 of EpicBattleCry while talking about Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (the first 8 minutes of which also recently [...]
After watching that I guy video post today I think he makes a valid point. And to add to it and also give my opinion, well actaully the other way round (cuz I’m at wrk on my phone and don’t feel to backspace, although in his same time I still cudve done it) anyway, I think kinda opposite of everyone. I’m not sure if any1 thot of it. But I kinda can see why they wud allow u the demo to a game u preorder. For example I can’t wait to play modern warefare two (lol I actually spelt “2″) and wud luv to play it now. I think what getting the demo allows for is a way to play a snippet of the game asap instead of waitin for it to come out later. So as too rly jus appatize our salivating taste buds for the game. To add to his point tho I think they shud put a demo of the game with a preorder and also a demo of a game that they think u may want to try out either from the same genre or maybe a new ip to get it sum market time. I think that will give them the most potential revenue of gamers that weren’t planning to buy a game as well being loyal to the fans that have gone out their way to preorder. That wud work in a great world, unfortunately we live in a time where handhelds make u pay more for games u already have and pay full price for only half a game. (halo odst). I have a point to that but I jus wanna keep this on one topic as it is already long winded and I gotta get back to work. I may do another battle cry later on if I don’t forget. Anyways peaceout from my iPhone. P.s. I wish u site wuz more forgiven to iPhone users to access ur on taps and such since it’s not it’s own podcast.
With regards to PC gamers suffering, developing for a console is much easier because the specs for a single console brand do not change. There is no flexibility in the specs of a 360 or PS3 except for storage space. PCs come in various forms. So when developing for a PC game, additional code has to be added to cater to different OSs, Graphics cards, processors etc so that people can customize the game to run properly on their systems. Notice that console games do not have the option for changing graphics quality but PC games do.
You`r probarly tierd of hearing us european guys crying about “ALL THE SUPER AWZOME” game exclusives we get over here, just west of russia ( YES WE ARE FRIENDS WITH US! not motherfucking Russia)
So….
My battlecry goes out too Infinity Ward;
The company makes great games, no question there.
they are the sponsor of spuprize attack,
BUT WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE STUFF FOR THE EUROPEANS!
The suprizeattack website thing was just released, BUT HEY! guess what, it`s only for the United States, hurray!
And good news for you guys out there, who loves Gamestop
Yep it was a suprizeattack that just gave me a heartattack!
So nothing to do but sit thight and wait for the release.
And keep up the show! YOU ROCK just as Entombed!
Greetings from Norway,
Roonog out…
My battle cry goes out to Brutal Legend. I started to play the demo and they gave me the option to cut out the profanity and the gore right away. I know it’s rated M but this drops it into a T game. There are so few games I can even try to play around my kids. Awesome.
My Battle Cry goes to Valve and their glorious ability to continually piss on their fan base with half hearted support and attention. The uproar alone about left4dead being left basically dead in the water is bad enough. Let alone all the promised content and updates with melee weapons that were supposed to be new content added NOT a new sku. Now they decided to give content for the soon to be unsupported left4dead and low and behold it was all produced by the ever so veteran “right out of school interns”. yes valve hired a slew of interns to make the content to “appease the masses”. I wasn’t sold on it. Make your own choice but I have made mine. Thanks for the tease Valve. It was like in middle school when the hot girl only flirted to only grow up to be a prostitute and ask you to pay. Yeah…no thatnx. Peace.

*imature language(?)*
My Battle Cry goes to natal because:
Natal is under estimated because of one single fact, it will one day become the savior of gaming! Give every gamer who buys natal a fake virgin(for the male) or a dildo(for the girls), and make a porngame/playboy-game! The whole world would benefitt from this! Say goodbye to the angry-gamer who lost a halo-match or still is a virgine, and make room for the happy gamer!(sex=happiness)Ppl would stop bitching, whine ect. “So tnx Microsoft for making the world a better place to game on..”
Cheers a happy gamer.
My epic battle cry goes out to the Big Three and their efforts in the area of motion control. Come on guys, this is not the revolution in gaming you thought it would be. Nintendo has proven that already. Motion controls are good for a facet of gaming, but they don’t translate well into all gaming formats. Sure, have your Wii Fits and your Tennis and your FPS’s that utilize the motion control, but don’t allow that to become the end-all-be-all for the rest of your games. Sony, don’t try to fix what isn’t broken with RE5′s Director’s Edition. Microsoft, just stop. Natal looks like crap. You’re failing before you get off the starting line, so quit while you are behind. Overall, motion games have their place in gaming just like FPS’s, platformers, RPG’s, and strategy games. It’s just another genre, so stop trying to make it the sole means by which games should be played. Give me my handheld controller and leave me the hell alone.
My Battlecry goes to all the people that think the backward compatibility of the ps3 topic is not a big deal.Let me put it in the best terms, Let’s say you stick with the PS3 all the way to the PS4. Before the PS4 drops Sony tells you that all the titles you bought for the PS3 over the years will work on the PS4. Then they change their minds and tell you that you can’t transfer your games but if you want you can RE-buy the PS3 titles through their online store. You’d be pissed and crying foul just like we are now. It’s not that it’s not possible it’s just forcing people to spend more money because Sony has blocked their old software from working, but then are RE-selling the same blocked software through their online store. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that you could have had BC for the loyal fanbase and still had all the older titles available digitally for those that have missed out on anything. Sony has taken away the option forcing people to either spend more money on stuff you already own or have to use their old software on their old hardware.
By the way, there are some really weird stuff happening in the forums: Posts dissapearing, logging out issues, and some other technical problems
My battlecry goes out to the insane moral tirades that net celebrity gamers go on for this or that reason. OH! They said I could trade in my games for blah blah blah…. WHAAAA! Whaaa! It reminds me of Marcus beer’s current stance against activision. Which reminds me of his stance the previous year against EA. I’ll never support activision! No matter how good the games are because Whaaa Whaaa!! As long as the games are good, I don’t care if they engaged in ritual human sacrfice or the molestation of hungry orphan gamers …. It doesn’t matter. Sometimes blood must be spilled for a higher cause. I just bought silent hill, blood omen legacy of cain, and wild arms 2, which I finally realized I could zap over to the psp. They were six dollars each. Legacy of cain is bullshit, but silent hill is damn good, problem is, I have to delete silent hill and legacy of cain if I want to play wild arms 2, and I dont think the card even has enough space for final fantasy 7. So I can buy more cards I guess and fuck up my save games, or I can buy a psp go, which has about 16 gig. I’d never buy that piece of shit, it’s too expensive and I already have a psp, but I don’t see why everyone is crying like little girls about it. And my real battlecry goes out to Flashpoint 2, which you better f*cking buy or I will cut you like a pig…. *grumble*
ROFL “cesury” hahaha. I’m chinese and that was just really funny.
My battlecry goes out to capcom an the way they are treating their consumers
street fighter IV came out everyone was hyped as f**k even I a none fan of the franchise wanted to by the game and play it. the day finaly comes an I get into the stores pay 80 bucks for a copy get home and play. but then oh we have to pay 5 bucks for each pack of costume just great… about 4 mounths later, what do we learn? capcom is re- releasing street fighter IV with eight new characters and some revised controls … guess what it`s a brand new game called SUPER street fighter IV and we gamers will probably have to pay 50$ for it, how awesome is that…. i’m not even saying here that I would have liked it to be a donwloadable content, because my online is constantly lagging and I probably wouldn`t have been able to download it anyway, but just the fact that they consider 8 bonnus characters and some tweak in the gameplay a new games completely blows my mind. and what`s that now? we are releasing a remastered copy of resident evil 5 with a new level and some motion game play once again as a new game… I understand you can`t make it downloadable because of the motion controls… really I do… but seriously one new level and make a brand game with it?
Thank you Capcom, thank you for the 80$ half- assed beta copy of your games!
