Well thanks for the insults. How about checking facts first? I'm in Europe, and games on Steam tend to be priced the same as retail versions. Then you look around the web and find that online retailers such as Play.com sell those very games for 20, 30 and sometimes 50% less than Steam and brick and mortar stores. So I dare say these are not rumors, but facts. I mean, you can preorder Modern Warfare 2 for 45 euros. It'll cost 60 in stores and on Steam, and there isn't ONE point to buy it on the Steam platform because its true advantages, meaning infinite reinstalls, SteamCloud savegames and such, they're included in the retail package, meaning you can actually have the game on Steam for LESS than the price Steam charges. This isn't to say that the service is crap. But at least for us EU customers, it used to be much more convenient and now it's pretty much on par with regular stores, as far as top titles go. For the record and in reference to what Tsubaru says, 1)iPhone games aren't crap, and 2)you ALWAYS purchase a license to a game, not the game itself. Read the EULA.

I’m VERY glad to see EA being mentioned in this skirmish for not giving more details on RTS gameplay in Brutal Legend. I did own Brutal Legend from release day, played it for a couple days, and then traded it in…luckily, I was able to get back about 50% of what I paid for but it was still a disappointment because I bought the game for hack ‘n slash…RTS is fine but holy shit, the game is just LOADED with RTS fights in single-player.

Like, every SINGLE boss fight is a RTS fight…c’mon, EA…that really disappointed me. Double Fine should be smacked too for not giving us more scope on gameplay. They showed us RTS footage and explained that it was for multi-player…I was NOT expecting to play RTS in single-player since that was not mentioned anywhere.

my battle cry goes out to Nintendo, for the fact that they are sitting on all these great classic titles and doing nothing wioth them. Even if they do develop something, it will be some casual peace of shit that wont be anything for the true fans. Its kinda fucked up that we will never get next gen installments of some of the oldest and greatest Titles. They should devolop games for the other consoles using outside devolopers. This way they can constrate on there gay fucking WII games and realy give the HardCore what they want and still make a buck. Imagine Legend of Zelda produced by Viscral games. Metroid produced by Bungie, an Unreal verzion of MEGA MAN, Start Fox done by Ubisoft. There is so much potentoal in theese claasic charcters, but nintendos got there head so far up there WII motion Ass that they either dont touch them or just fuck em up for sake of the WII!

My battle cry goes out to the comment about DLC costing the same as the actual hard game. I am not agreeing that it is right that DLC costs as much as hard copy of the game but I do understand why. Mainly due to the fact that retail stores also make a substantially amount of profit, in gaming, from the software than the hardware. If the DLC were to be cheaper this will take a lot of business away from brick and mortar stores. Which could lead to retail no longer selling the consoles which would greatly impact the industry. On the plus side it would be death to Gamestop. When is the last time anyone bought a CD and/or saw the number of specialty music stores or section in retail compared to the early 90s and prior.

My battle cry goes out not to Activision (though that’d be too easy) but rather to EA, the lesser of the 2 evils, for their pre-ordering business involving Army of Two: 40th Day. Whether or not you get your pre-order bonuses from Gamestop, Best Buy etc or don’t even bother, at least you can play all the content the game offers but to effectively restrict a gamer content despite paying full price can set a dangerous precedent and prevent access to other content in future titles unless you pre-order, buy DLC etc

Tsubaru: As you may not know, Steam doesn’t sell only Valve games, and there are other games out there than just online multiplayer games. I didn’t bought a Valve game, and the game doesn’t even have online gaming options, so i’m not using Steam network, I just bought a game through Steam and I can’t play it without Steam.You know, I think Patcher has a point when he said on Bonus Round that o younger generation of gamers would start on iPhone and take that games in general are all like that, crap. We now have a generation that thinks that gaming is only going online and shoot other players. This is just great. From now on we won’t even have the game it self, just pay a service and go online, something like BattleForge. Oh, dear.

Okay, I still don't get whats wrong with buying and activating games through Steam... Even if you don't play online, you will need to activate a game, just like any other game, mostly online. Steam does that too. They not only sell and register users, they also activate the games you bought ( I guess so they people don't play pirated versions). I know this one the only way for them to get rid of thousands pirated version for Counter Strike. It sounds like you bough one of those smaller games, from Independent developers. Steam is just making sure you are not screwing that company and them when you pay your money, you get security check, and now you won't be able to spread the illegal copy (if you decide some day to do so) >-< . I just think Steam is making a very smart system and it really DOES help independent developers get their games to a massive market.
