Congratulations guys! Im going to see this righ now!!
And I will comment on this later…
Grats!
Im watching…editing later.
Big congrats on 50 guys, this is the best gaming related podcast out there currently. Definitely looking forward to another 50.
Congrats! awesome skirmish, as expected!
It’s 3 o’clock at night here in stockholm, staying up because of this show! just so you know how much i appreciate you guys. good night and thank you
Great stuff guys, great setting, keep up the camera’s
loved that u went through with the Video guys…..
keep on rocking and congratz on the 50th =D
Drakkul is right about WOW and games borrowing ideas, but we should not be okay with basing an entire game off the same core gameplay elements and story lines. All my favorite recent games took basic staples, like platforming and shooting, but tweaked them with a good story, solid gameplay, and new ideas and twists in the game.
Grats you are really awesome, humor, games and Heavy Metal! And some cupcakes.
Only ONE think remaining…the F**** PC gamers must have more time in the podcast. It isn’t possible no speaking of MW2 violation to PC Gamers.
Cya guys!
WHATS A CANUCK
best episode yet, I can’t believe brent wore horns and DK wore a RUSH SHIRT!!! LOL!!!!
My battlecry goes out to publishers not supporting their titles….specifically new ips. In order for games to sell and have a fanbase in the video game market, They need good and and smart publishing. I’ve been gaming for around 8 years now and I have seen countless times where games have failed due to limited marketing..or none at all. Proper publishing is key to a games life. Known franchises like COD don’t neccesarily need all the marketing money thrown in because, it has a steady fanbase and a known franchise. However, new ips suffer because publishers just do too little to help the game. I believe it also depends on the publishers but even big name ones are sometimes guilty of not supporting titles like they should. I understand not blowing your wad on marketing for a title that might be be a success. Sometimes though its those titles that could of been a success if just a little more time and money was put into marketing and promo work.
A great example of poor marketing is what Bethesda is doing for Rogue Warrior. The game was annoucned back in 2006. Then it resurfaced in 2009 and is being developed by another studio. Which is all kool The problem is..Bethesda hasn’t said or done anything other magazine ads and one trailer and it was at pax to promote the dang game. With a month before release it is unsettling. This is also weird considering Bethesda marketed WET out the a$$. Do they want it to fail?
Honestly The Rogue Warrior brand name is already known. As in the guy its based off of Richard Marcinko. However, in order to gain a more bigger follwoing it needs marketing. The game stars oscar nominee mickey rourke doing the VO..and BEthesda couldn’t of capalized on that. However, their porr marketing skills for stuff other than their own is just off putting as it is unsettling. Also is the fact that they haven’t even released a press release saying that the game is released. Its up to the consumers to guess with their d!ck or w/e in the dirt.
Hey Guys,
Congrats on the 50th skirmish. I look forward to them every week and it’s the only thing that can put a smile on my face during the busy and stressful week of university.
My battle cry this week goes out to PC gamers. Hang in there fellas!! It’s no doubt PC gamers get shit on by everyone in the industry today (Daniel did it in the 50th podcast himself) what with shoddy console ports, more DRM and constantly delaying the PC version of multiplatform games. We’re all in this together. We purchase the expensive hardware, the horribly optimized games and the increasing pain in the ass which is DRM lately.
What do we get? Disrespect. We’re called elitists, pirates and geeks. What happened to being called gamers? When did it all of a sudden become the norm to turn on those who basically made the industry what it is today. Would we have Counterstrike, the first person shooter, simulation or strategy games, or even an online gaming experience if not for the internet and the inclusion of online PC gaming.
It’s a sad day for us PC gamers. The more I get called a pirate, I start to question if perhaps they’re trying to tell me something. Stand strong brothers, perhaps we’ll be accepted back by gamers as what we really are. Fellow gamers.
Take Care Gentlemen.

This post was mentioned on Twitter by epicbattleaxe: EpicBattleCry Skirmish #50 is now live on EpicBattleAxe.com. How freakin’ EPIC is that?!?!?!? http://bit.ly/3qvTz7...
Oh shit I almost forgot…
Whichever one of you were responsible for having big tits Mackay do her little snippet IN A BIKINI, thank you, for the love of everything big and round, (although somewhat unsymmetrical j/k) thank you, Now you may think (or know) I’m some sort of perv, but who isn’t down to look at those dirty fun bags, any hour of the day! hell, i might bring my girlfriend in here, ok ok up until just then my comment was almost sincere lol
stay dirty,

My battle cry goes out to indie devs. This generation of games is of course filled with HD graphics, wii waggling, and everything else under the sun, but what really has been flourishing is the distribution of games from indie devs.
Indie games bring a breath of fresh air to a generation of complex games. They take you to a simpler form of gaming, where everything isnt about multiplayer, achievements or graphics that make the original doom look like a bitch. Not only that but you get what you pay for, most indie games are less then 20 dollars and can offer you more for your money then most mainstream games.
Also wanted to give a shout out on a great episode. You guys did a great job on celebrating your one year anniversary. I loved the cameos by marcus and all the other gaming show guys, plus the fan videos were great as well. The video of you all is a nice addition as well.
Keep up the great work on being the best gaming podcast out there.
first of all happy birthday, Daniel loved the Rush teeshirt, you actually look like Geddy Lee so congrats to achieving the level of real non aware costplay or something like that, not really love Rush and cool that you look like geddy, okey my battlecry goes a little outdated but still importat for the racism in gaming and aware of it or not, to the most aclaimed recent racist game to date….racisism the evil 5 (okay resident evil 5) cool action game – worst resident evil game ………………..ever,……why?
well the enemies trough the whole game you will never shake the felling that you are not longer shothing zombies but normal people maybe a little angry but not zombies, it looks more like you are shoting people angry cuz coca cola its destroying their land than infected from a virus, and the deformation of every piece that make R E what it is makes the game a cool game but a failure as a resident evil.
Congrats on the 50th podcast guys! Thanks for the digital cupcake. Sorry to all those that were affected by the Navarro code restriction, and I invite any and all to come join us in the forums. We’ve kept it civil and friendly so it hasn’t turned into fanboy camps yet so come and join the discussions.
Amandy MacKay, wow, she should make a video podcast, even without any audio it would top all viewing recorsd on gametrailers
Fellas, I really appreciate your podcasts like nobody’s business. The way you present gaming news is extremely entertaining, thoughtful, well debated, and ultimately insanely informative. I always look forward to the beginning of the week to hear from you all.
Congratulations on your guys’ 50th episode. You all are some righteous dudes and I hope to enjoy 50 more episodes of hearin’/watchin’ you guys, “… cut through the crap…,” to bring me, “… the real deal on the gaming industry today.”
Thanks for the awesomeness.
Congratz for getting to 50th, hope your podcast lasts forever, cause it freaking kicks ass.
Guys, why haven’t you discussed about MW2 not having any dedicated servers ? A petition to have them back already has 160 000 votes.
This video podcast was pretty cool, hope you guys do it next week too !
Keep cutting through the crap !
Great Job this past year you guys! Keep destroying the Gaming World from the inside for another year!
Awesome episode, I love the show. Congrats on 50, cant wait for 51. Cya next week!
Hi congratz on these 50 apocalyptic podcasts, to me the best of them because of the way you speak of things, it feels like a chat with some of my friends, you know there’s the one who likes de ps3, the one that is like in the middle, and the one that like the x..(oh wait none of my friends like those explosive xbox 360, if only i wouldn’t like halo T_T, ps: i don’t own an xbox, it’s to expensive here in Argentina, plus i don’t like microsoft ¬¬)
you make it funny and serious at the same time, and like, you cover all opinions, even the ones i don’t like(very few of them xD)
that intro is awesome great metal theme
what else can i say, well keep it up your podcast is the one i wait for the most
i know it’s a little bit early to talk it, but i would like to know what do you think about the new epic mickey game for the wii
my battlecry of the week goes to microsoft, and sony for splitting friends(nintendo gets away for going “casual”), you know gaming it’s supposed to be a social kinda thing, but what happens if i have a 360 and a friend a ps3, and i wanna play a game with him, for example borderlands?, i can’t, and for some people(in some other countries like me) it’s really expensive to go buy both consoles(i don’t even own one of them x_x), so why don’t they allow or make some kind of cross plataform gaming, something like the pc-360 thing that WAS going on some time ago with games for windows(is that over?), i mean it doesn’t affect the hardware sales i think, online games should allow this, or at least the co-op ones, sometimes it’s a little bit annoying playing with someone you don’t know, cause if you are kinda new to the game and the other player already played it he might get angry at you and for just not knowing somethings, and that makes for a non pleasant experience
my friends of epicbattlecry i salute you and hope you continue doing these podcasts for a long time
PS:doesn’t matter if Daniel Kaiser doesn’t support ps3, he knows Amanda MacKay lol, if you make her appear every episode that will be an epic win
hey i just wanted to congradulate you guys on an epic journey so far and i was going to post a video for the 50th episode but i have been sadly sick with the dreaded H1N1 flu and wasn’t able to post one, but enough about me. you guys have truely done an amazing job with these podcasts and your knowledge and the way you discuss things in such detail. I honor all 3 of you with my respect and loyalty as a fan of epic battle axe and i will be eagerly looking forward to the future podcasts and gaming news. I hope to one day be doing something similar to what you guys have achieved and you have all inspired me to do so. well anyways im talking too much and this disease is devouring me so congrats and thanks for making me look forward to a funny and great experience every week
My Epic Battle Cry goes to Infinity Ward. Not too long ago they announced the removal of dedicated servers from their PC version of Modern Warfare 2 as well as the modder support. Their reasons (fans of Modern Warfare who [can't] find a decent server to play on between all of the cheaters, the insular communities, and huge skill level disparities that the original game’s community fractured into.) Screams of large quantities of bull.
I have never heard of a PC game that failed because of large disparities in skill, or ‘insular’ communities; not to mention that a player controlled dedicated server with observant admins fared far better in removing the cheating element from their server population.
To say the original games community fractured is a poor descriptor at worst and a completely inept observation at best. This fracturing as IW labeled it is nothing more than a natural phenomenon of friendship building – you game with those you enjoy gaming with. Forcing everyone into a potluck soup will cause PC gaming in this title to degrade back to the vulgarities I have to endure when I play multiplayer halo, it’s a necessary evil on consoles but it doesn’t have to be on PCs.
Thanks IW you showed your fans you not only don’t care about their communities they worked hard to build and maintain (they aren’t cheap either), you also showed you want to do everything you can to control your product after release by not giving us mod tools – now if we want new maps we can’t rely on a healthy mod community that demonstrated so much talent in the previous title.
Are their egos so inflated they fear nothing with the upcoming juggernaut title battlefield bad company 2? They could not have made the choice for PC users easier.
I suppose I can thank IW though…now I don’t have to support Activision at all.
BTW Episode 50 was truly enjoyable…as always I look forward to your show. Keep the puns, keep the metal, keep the hilarious quips, keep the fun, and you’ll keep the fans forever =)
Video only, please! It’s so much funnier. Especially Brent’s warcries
Anyway my Battle Cry is short and it goes out to you guys. I’ve been following you for not as long as I would like, but ever since I know about you, you’re my favourite thing on the internet. You guys are funny as hell, you like metal, you’re gamers and cut through the crap
Yours is the first podcast I ever watched/listened.
Keep rocking and more videos of MacKay in swimsuits!
Good job guys, 50 shows of content more entertaining than most million dollar tv shows. LOVED the throwback to the first episode, it didn’t go unnoticed! I’m not a big forum poster but I gotta say you guys are the only people on the Internet whose opinions are indisputably correct.
Rock on, from Canada.
PS DK, if you’re listening, always up for a match of NHL 10.
Great episode 50! Don’t feel too bad about what the other “experts” said…it was sarcasm with love
They were just giving back some of the sh-t you give out.
Hahaha, Tony’s face when Daniel said “epic.” haha classic.
Love the video format, hope there’s more game and random images though if that’s possible.
My Battle Cry goes out to…the PSP Go! Now to clarify, I think it will fail and was a dubious choice by Sony, but I, in my optimism, hope this causes developers to see the PSP in general as the handheld that it is. The PSP has suffered from developers making games that don’t really play to the strengths of a handheld…quick pick up and play in short intervals. The DS has the touch screen which I think lends itself to mini-game based games, but the PSP has power and that has made developers view it as a mini-console instead. By promoting a download only system it may produce more titles in line with what we see on the console download services which are perfect for handhelds. Basicly I hope this will change the type of games we see produced for the PSP and in so doing put the PSP back on the map as a serious and worthwhile platform.
Again, to clarify I think the PSP GO is trash, I just want to see something good comeout of the situation.
maybe you guys should make should make a special segment on the show where amanda mackay sounds off on whatever gaming news she wants while wearing a bathing suit, pool side. that would bring EBC close to dangerous amounts of awesome.
Great 50th episode guys and you lucky SOB’s you know Amanda “god she looks even hotter in a bikini” MacKay. Props to you
But now over too my Battlecry of the week. Its about the Biggest hype that now hovers over this fall. Aka Modern Warfare 2. I’m kinda fed up with the fact that it is overshadowing all others great titles that are coming out this fall. Assassins Creed 2 still has its own strength, but do you guys know an other big title from a third party developer? Its almost like all of the other devs or publishers were like O F#%$K here comes the eliphaunt (damn i forgot how to spell that big grey animal) in the room. Don’t they have faith in their own products anymore? Dont get me wrong MW2 is gonna be great, but a game like Bioshock 2 still has its own existenceright. Yes its a shooter, but the style is so different from what MW2 is. I personally dont even compare them, except for that they are shooters. I have more affinity with Bioshock then with MW2 because its drags you more in the world witch is so different then what we are used to in most games. Yes multiplayer is gonna be great in MW2, but its probably just be a better version of what was in part 1. Bioshock had its choice system that really made you realize what you did, instead of takin you by the hand and showing u where to go.
Sry that i keep rambling about this but my point is, why arent publishers or developers more gutsy and take the stand against MW2 and having faith in their own product. Where is the big RPG this fall? where is THE big RTS this fall? and so on.
Once again congrats guys and keep your axeheads up high to catch the crap from the game-industry and chopping it up to little pieces.
First things first. Congrats and thanks for making a kickass podcast for the last year. Keep em coming. Except for DK… (Totally kidding, loving the puns. I’m a big fan of bad puns)
My BattleCry:
My battle cry goes out to Infinity Ward for the way they handled the third-person perspective rumor/leak on MW2. It goes back to a point made in a previous episode where you talked about “The Witcher 2″ leak. I liked that they where open about it and didn’t let it become anything more than it is.
Also, kudos to infinity ward for adding a third-person perspective mode in the game without compromising the ranked multiplayer or singleplayer experience, but rather just add it as a bonus for private matches in gameplaytypes where it fits. Really shows that they respect their fans me thinks. Anywho… Great show. Good on ya.
Hey guys,
My BattleCry comes in form of a question.
I love steam, and I’ve pre-ordered/bought alot of games through it. As I sat browsing after some good deal in they online store, a revolution came to me.
What will happen to my non-physical games once (if ever) [Insert digital distribution name here] dies?
As I can’t play the game, even less install it, if I can’t connect to steam, will they, in ten years, one day say “Ah, sorry. We can’t stand toe-to-toe with all the rising digital distribution services. We’re gonna pull the plug for our online store, sorry.”
Maybe a bit far fetched, but I think you get my point.
Also, where could one get that awesome “EpicBattleAxe” background on your laptop (Preferably in a 1900×1080 resolution)
Great show guys, keep it up.
Epic indeed, being able to see you greatly adds to the immensity of the show(Brent).Great work!, if you can call it that.Seriously all jokes aside, at the end of the day it is the start of the night and when the darkness falls and shadows loom i shout my epic battle cry..”you f***ing rock!”. I raise my goblet to you. Keep it coming, oh and hello DK.
Hey guys.
My battle cry this week is a simple one. I have been a long time supporter and watcher(Also listener =P) of your show and pimped it out to many of my friends. So this week I cry HAVOK(Pun intended) for you Brent, Tony and DK money as well as the amazing followers and supporters of this show. Keep up the great show and I’ll be looking forward to 100. Game on Gents and thanks for the great show and props to the supporters.
Hey Guys
I just want to congrats you guys for this awesome episode, say that you are my main game news website!!!
I loved the “live” podcast where e could see your chubby faces… I think you guys could really take this format of show from now on cos’ it really made us feel more clos to you…
Happy birthday and Happy 50th skirmish..
Great episode, really nice
I was worried it won’t be something very different from the other episodes… and it was not… it was great! Great ideea with the “live” video thing
I wasn’t expecting that
. Great job ! (again) Hope you will get to podcast 200! -That will be in 2012 and we will all die in 20 different ways
– … no, really, I hope you will do great things in the future !
And i think Jinxstar’s battlecry is the best ! I subscribe to it
Best podcast out there! can’t wait to listen to it every week it really gets me going! keep it up guys i love it!
The only request i’d have to make is to make it longer!
Keep it real keep it brutal!!
YEAH! Us for the win!
MY EYESSSSS
Congrats fellas!
Great 50th episode and in video as well, very cool.
I wish you all the support and motivation possible to continue enjoying making the show. It is awesome!
Cheers from Sweden.
-=EBC Über Alles=-
Hi Fellas of philosophy, my deepest congrats for 50 episodes of epic excitement! I watched your podcast since episode 30 or so and i’m really glad I found you over GT. With number 50 you made one of the best episodes (I saw) and hopefully you continue your show with cameras, that was great!
My battle cry of the week goes to companies like Bioware, Valve and Blizzard. Without such gaming magicians our gaming industry wouldn’t be the same, because they’re setting the level of a good game higher and higher with each stuff, they publish. Of course these days it’s also because they simply have the resources to do so, but that quality of gaming development was since day one of their history.
So, move on ladies!
Greets from Germany!
…and sorry for my bad english.
Great show!!!
I love idea of seeing you while you talk! You really should do this in every future video!
BTW Just one technical advice! Deinterlace video before upload! Its ugly to see combing around your hands and everything that moves.
Thanks guys for countless laughter over this past half year (I just started listening to you guys around episode 20 so no full year for me).
To DK: I’m don’t know if you are aware of the fact that in German “Kaiser” (spelled with an i instead of a y but pronounced exactly the same way) means “emperor” or “imperator” in english so I bestow you with the extended title of “Punisher Kaiser”.
Your best pun for me was in the E3 episode where you talked about Golden Sun DS and about Camelot… what they only did two games before shouldn’t they be called “Camelittle” ^_^
Also greetings from Germany you guys rock!!
Great episode guys. Keep it up.
My Battlecry goes to all the 3rd party developers who are actually still producing quality games for the wii. The only good games that seem to come to the wii are made by nintendo and are just more of there major ip’s rather than anything new, this seems to have scared off many developers it seems because there really aren’t many actual good wii games, and some of the good ones, like no more heroes, are now being
re-thought so they might go on different platforms.
Wow, totally enjoyed the 50th episode.
Keep up the great job, guys! Totally enjoyed the video camera and the way you guys bicker with each other, lol!
It just occurred to me after watch Brent’s viking hat and always hearing you guys mention your ‘open minded’ approach to your wardrobe decisions during audio only podcasts that it’s be hilarious (albeit in a snickering high schooler kind of way) to use the helmet as a cup. No, not the drinking kind, the other kind.
On second thought that’s just messed up. But now that you read this you’ll think about…yes you will.
“Is that a viking hat in your pocket or are you just handicapped?”
*snicker snicker*
Awesome guys! Keep doing it in video! It has just become my favourite Skirmish of all!
congrats
but to be honest you let me down this week, i was waiting for your take on the Infinity Ward/Activision stunt but you didn’t
Congratulations on the 50th episode! You guys have really made me look forward to mondays! Or tuesdays since I live in Sweden..
Anyway, I look forward to upcoming episodes, and DK.. Don’t stop with the PUNeshing, I love Brent and Tonys reactions when you drop the puns!
I’m saddened that so few cupcakes were devoured during the podcast though, just taunting us! Digital cupcakes right there for you I suppose!
Cry havoc!
remember the first time you learned that Bart simpson was voiced by a woman?, you could never watch the simpsons in quite the same way again.
You’ve stolen abit of the magic behind the show in this episode. Correct it for the next one. Dont kill off one unique format for a lesser one…regardless of how attractive it is seeing Brent in a viking hat.
damn guys, save some for the 100th episode
Congratulations on episode 50 guys. It’s always a pleasure to watch your show. Keep the humor and the puns. Even when they’re bad, they’re still funny.
Battle cry of the week : Amanda is gorgeous
Congrats on 50 episodes and making it an entire year with EBA. You guys are the real deal without all the corporate crap we get from other gaming industry news medians.
My Epic Battle Cry goes to the team at Treyarch…no not Infinity Ward…Treyarch.
Why? you ask…well. Simple…in the last year since World at War’s release they’ve been on top of their own game. Releasing updates…map packs and overall just tweaking the game to perfection. I know mostly it’s due to coming out with a sub-par game in the first place…but then again…90 percent of games being released these days are sub-par at release date…and continue to be sub-par years later. Treyarch has consistently listened to the fans about what worked and what didn’t and they’ve kept updating the game with better features such as more Zombie maps…better weapons…and adding a history behind what was originally just a bonus level.
If only more companies stuck by their games after release…and did this much post-release work…I think more dev companies would see a little more activity on their games after the year-mark.
Mind you…some games don’t NEED to do this. Take Call of Duty 4 for example. It’s been 2 years…and we’ve only gotten 1 map pack…and people are STILL able to glitch under and outside of some multiplayer maps since day-one.
I can only hope Infinity Ward takes a page out of Treyarch’s book and sticks by their games and doesn’t just abandon their fans with whatever they give at release.
Thank you for reading.
Keep in mind, this is just an opinion. No flaming please.
My epic battle cry goes out to game developers names. considering in the video game world most people try to get “bad ass” names but they usually suck (like str8t rippin that halo 3 team). It seems like Game devloper names are becoming like band names – weird as shit – i mean cmon, fat shark, double fine lol?? im not saying that is a bad name just a very odd ones. and here are a few band names as proof that there are a lot of messed up ones: playdough fish, the yeah yeah yeahs and a lot more. originality is always good lol
Wow guys! That was some professional video game journalism. I just knew every Halloween when Tony would show up as Mario, power mushrooms in tow, that he was going to make something of his life. Today he proved me right.
My Battlecry goes out to all the americans out there that always complain about the prices on games, in denmark where i am from a new game cost 550-600 danish kr. thats 109,91-119,90 dollars.
My battlecry goes out for Amanita design. They released great indepentend title called Machinarium and it gives player a great puzzles to solve. Also Smooth animation and graphics. It is 20 bucks title and it is worth it. I courage all to check it out.
Ps: Keep on rockin for another year Epic Battle axe
Link: http://machinarium.net/
My battlecry goes to Steam and/or the people behind Killing Floor, I’m sick of all misleading demos(Brutal Legend) and finally they got up with the awesome idea: “Hey let the masses try our game for free during the whole weekend!”
My runner-up is the one year anniversary of World of Goo which 2Dboy celebrated with selling the game for the price of your choice.
HI guys greeting you guys from the Netherlands! You guys are the only show where i check my news first because you guys really do expose the all sides of the gamesindustry. Even the darkside of the industry! You guys make the best show up to date, and the fact that other gamenews broadcasters just show criticism, shows you guys exsploit the news to where it hurts. On another note your threesome skirmishes really educate us gamers what we need to know in order not to be fucked over by the big giants out there. Daniel, love the lame jokes that make me shoot myself! TONY your dry view of the world is the funiest thing ever! I REALLy liked your epicbattlecry about mark rein on Natal that was indeed Genius! Brent you complete the other 2. Greetings from Amsterdam and keep up as many skirmishes as possible!
My battle cry goes out to Borderlands and Operation flashpoint 2, In a market flooded with great shooters Devs need to understand that including full co-op can mean the difference between a pass and a buy. Neither Borderlands or OPF2 is IMO on the same level as games like Killzone or Uncharted but because they offer split-screen story driven co-op they are instantly elevated to a must buy. Their is such a dearth of reasonable split-screen shooters of late, that when my friends come over, we just play the old halo games. Is It asking so much of devs to include co-op when they know its so influential a feature? Plus I’m tired of this Bullshit “co-op” horde mode or side mission junk. Just give me the single player with co-op, even if another character doesn’t make sense. If IT WORKED FOR HALO, It will work for other games.
Congrats on 50 gentlemen! Keep up the good leisure.
My Epic Battle Cry:
Goes out to the ‘new’ shift this generation of digital distribution and downloadable games. I think a lot of my fellow EBA heads have touched on this at one time or another, but the point remains: This emergence of DD and Downloadable titles, everything from iPhone and updates, to PSN, Live, and Virtual Console, has had an enormous positive effect on the gaming industry.
I’ve been gaming for… shit about 15 years now. I wasn’t gaming at the time of the Atari, and wasn’t mentally cognizant enough even if I had been, so I can’t comment on the similarities of the infamous Atari games boom. We’ve said that the Wii titles are similar (lots of crap coming out because everyone’s looking for a goldmine) and as a result we have to wade through knee high rivers of feces to find a floating gem of a Wii Title.
That all being said, I have to agree with whoever made the point in episode 50 that Live, Virtual Console, and PSN are making it MUCH easier to develop, distribute, find, and play games that come from someone other than industry giants. The fact that I can play a game like Flow or Braid, or browse the Indie Games section of Xbox Live and look for user-created games is absolutely awesome.
Is there a lot of shit? Well of course. Any time you let the public do anything the first thing’s you’ll get are wads of shit and big penis drawings. But ignoring the idiots, you can find some genuinely skilled and imaginative people. I think these digital services are the first important steps in broadening the scope of gaming as well as providing variety and new sources of genuine innovation.
Congrats again guys, another successful 50 to you!
Grats on 50! As a game designer I gotta say you guys help me keep the perspective I need and still make for an entertaining experience. I love the show have been showing it to a lot of colleagues and getting them hooked. Keep up the good work and honestly, puns excluded, I wouldn’t change a thing on the show.
Hi Guys I love the podcasts, not sure about video, you guys were defo out of your element, maybe that would change but there’s certainly no need to go video, IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT
Happy 50 EPC ^^
First off I would like to say congrats on a whole year of EBA!
My battlecry goes out to all of the dateless losers like myself. Because we have little to do to entertain ourselves, the only things we CAN do and do well, are gaming and (insert DK pun for jerking off here). As I scrolled down to place my comment, I noticed that the majority of comments are on Amanda Mackay in a bikini!
Have modern gamers who are post pubesent become that lonely that porn is not enough? Its like we all want that little extra. I’ve seen a comment stated that if you show more of Amanda, it’ll make the show better. HOW!? Guys this is a gaming talk show NOT F&#$ING Howard Stern!
As a side note: NOT GAY, NOT FEMALE
great show as usual guys should keep the video format looks good…to my fellow axeheads that are disappointed they didnt mention the MW2 fiasco, dont worry they wanted to keep the 50th podcast enjoyable.
i have a feeling they will rip IW and Activision up, like a dog getting reamed by an elephant, on next weeks show.
keep it going DK you rock
My cry of battle comes as this. I was watchin on GT a video for R.U.S.E., that extremely cool, never coming to real life strategy table that brought the battle to ur fingers. I just watched this new one where it looks more like a game, but your still touching the battlefield on a screen now. my question/comment is how is a touch game coming to non-touch consoles?! am I buying another accessory, like do i really have to to get the full benefit of the game? now in thinking that, why bother even putting it on a console. why not make a plug-n-play device that doesn’t require a console at all. (you remember those genesis controllers that had games loaded inside it, and the cables attached directly to the tv, this shud have a monitor that you can attached directly to the tv) a much wider market, maybe even cheaper cost to develop and market and such. shoot, they could even make it multifunctional; anyone looking for a new touch screen monitor, why not buy this and you can get yourself a game too.
Is the final product of R.U.S.E. even going to be touch gameplay?
My epic battle cry goes to Amanda MacKay’s cleaveage. Seriously WTF! Where has she been hiding that. SET THOSE PUPPIES FREE!!
My battle-cry goes out to Brett for not slapping that cupcake into Danial’s face for the sake of the video. You were right, it would have been awesome…
The switch to the EBA Staff is great, but Tony, you gotta finish your sentences man!
You got cut off when talking about the books and
the 360 releasing AAA titles vs the PS3 releasing __________ (we didnt hear because you stopped)
great episode, mad props & all BUT
if you’re going to keep doing this video thing slap on some deinterlacing aight
Hello guys.
My EpicBattleCry goes to steam. Because even though Valve is owning steam and that it is a great DLC platform for all of us. I mean if you look at the industry today you don’t see alot of demos for games and IF you want a demo you have to pre-order the game…. I don’t wanna pay money for a game that might look cool and fun on the vidoes and trailers. But when you get the game and you play it, then it is only fun for like an hour or so and then you grow tired of the game. I mean that’s where steam comes in. You check the game on steam (if it is there of course) and you can download a demo through steam or a trial period so you can test the game for e certain amount of time and then you can deside if you wanna buy the game or not. I mean I have been screwd over the years from games that I thought looked cool but when I tried them they really were bad games… Steam is great for this and you can just buy and download it directly through steam. I wanna see more platforms or programs like steam that you can look for games and try out a demo or see a trailer, or read some info about the game BEFORE I guy IT. So many people got steam and it reaches out to people. You log onto steam and the first thing you see like some game with discount or something else like bundles. Indie developers have also made some profit with steam just because it steam can reach people daily and very easy. I agree also with Tony about the thing with DLC that you wanna own the game physically and not just have it on your computer or xbox or Playstation 3. Because you can play it at your friends house and it feels more like you own a copy of the game if you have it physically and not just on the xbox hard-drive, feels more like you’re leasing the game.
I wanna dedicate my EpicBattleCry to Daniel Keyser (Not sure if I spelled it right)Because I know you’re into alot about this with DLC and I wanna thank you for keep me up to date about the DLC situation. I just wanna say that I have watched EBC since the 30th episode or something I love your show because you keep people up to date about the industry and that you CUT through the crap really
Love the video podcast this episode truly was EPIC!
PS I am sorry for the spelling I am swedish and I recently joined on the site. I was also wondering if you could upload or post a link with the EBC backround thing I saw in the video, want it for my desktop ^^ Thanks alot for making so much influence on me and bringing the news about the gaming industry…
Indeed. Just sit back, get your credit card ready and wait for the DLCs to start rolling in…
Have to say I liked the video podcast and hope you concider to continue with it…
Altough I just woundering when you will apear or talk about dreamhack…world biggest lan party (around 10.000+ players gathered to one place)
anyways its every winter/summer, you should check it out
Ohh and dreamhack takes place in sweden XD
My battle cry goes to Valve. I know it’s an old topic that they don’t do PS3. But if their company just doesn’t want to learn the ins-and-outs of the PS3 hardware, wouldn’t it be super profitable for them to hire a 3rd party that won’t make a shitty port (I’m looking at the whoever did the Orange Box port) for L4D and L4D 2?
My dream would be to have Naughty Dog, who isn’t lazy to learn PS3 hardware, to do the port even though there’s no chance in hell since ND is under Sony. Better yet, why can’t Valve make friends with a third-party company like Ubisoft to do their L4D PS3 port?
How many copies would they have to sell on the PS3 to make a venture like this worthwhile? I personally, have horrible luck, so I know if I got a 360 I would RRoD (and my computer rig sucks). So for people like me, I would totally buy L4D if Valve actually got off their asses and hired someone to do the port work to PS3.
Greetings fellow axe-heads, and congratulations on you guys reaching episode 50, that IS mindblowingly awesome!
I’ve been listening to EBC from a while and, of course, I take it as the most, God forgive me, -epic- podcast out there and as this is my first shout out here, I’d like to give it to you and us, your fans.
Since I’m an avid Steam user, I have been searching for almost a month for an EBA steam group, just anything to show my support to you guys, since, again, I think you’re kickass. I’m following you on Twitter, subscribed to your feed on my cellphone, but it still… isn’t enough. I have never looked at the option of posting comments and being active on the forums, unfortunately, mostly because of other IRL activities getting in the way, a recent example being my sweet and only gaming platform – my PC – being sent in repairs so I had to go with the audio version of the past few podcasts, including number 50 ;(, in addition not being able to record and sound off with something special for your one year anniversary.
But I do feel like paying up and showing my support! After this podcast, I initiated a search again and was still amazed that there was no EBA steam group and hey, Steam’s a large place! So, I thought, what do I do to show my support to EBA and encourage the fans to do exactly the same, the thing you guys surely want as much as I do?
This, of course! http://steamcommunity.com/groups/epicbattleaxe
It’s on baby, the Epic Battle Axe steam group! Whoo! For the fans – by the fans. I hope you guys don’t mind on spreading the word of EBA and help its eventual world domination. I encourage you, the fellow fans and axe-heads who like to play games on Steam and enjoy the platform, to join and do the same – show how much you think DK’s puns and Brent’s ear-cleaving intros in EpicBattleCry, the informative gaming news and interesting articles on EpicBattleAxe – how much you think EVERYTHING up in this biatch rocks to high heavens!! Fo shizzle.
And it’d be awesome if you drop it on the next skirmish, just a sliiiight remark. Yeah. Totally.
Cheers, and rock on! Axe-head, out.
Great show!
My battlecry goes out to the makers of Borderlands. So many sequals come to the market and so many new ips don’t do as well as hoped. (Dead Space and Mirrors Edge I’m looking at you) They decided to create a new ip, had a change of graphics well into their development and entered a crowded genre. They put the effort into it and created a game that is getting very good reviews. Way to have the balls to try something new, this might be the first FPS I buy.
BattleCry:
Remember Syndicate from Bullfrog? (Molyneux’ old studio from before he became Microsoft’s false prophet).
A great cyberpunk tactical action game that oozed atmosphere and style, and had superb gameplay. Syndicate for me is one of the best games ever and it has never been matched nor has anyone even attempted to match it (apart from Bullfrog’s own sequel and major dissapointment Syndicate Wars).
Many are the times that my shriveled up viking brain has wondered what this most awesome and brilliant concept of a game would look like on todays magical consoles and supercharged PC’s.
Lo and behold about a year ago there were two substantial rumors regarding a modern remake or sequel being developed by swedish codemonkeys StarBreeze Studios (Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and The Darkness) for EA (the current rights holders of the IP I believe).
My BattleCry goes out to you guys at EpicBattleAxe to figure out what the hell is up with that?! Send out your EpicBattleAxe-Ninja-Viking-Spies to dig up some info on this situation, as I believe that this potential game would be one of epic awesomeness and any early info would seriously tickle my epic fancy!
LastNinja
edit: Oh and congrats on your 50th, great ‘cast as always. You should keep the video, at least every other episode
Good episode guys! Congrats on 50!
If GameStop buys Steam I’m going to kill myself. GameStop is the shittiest most overpriced game outlet in the universe. Why anyone gets games from there is beyond me.
Wao, what a great epsisode, this is a new format you guys should consider it was great to see ya all in action.
keep up the good work.
Great job EBA!! It wasnt my favorite episode but it was the most different one. It seemed Tony was a little uncomfortable in front of a camera !
) Hey, so that you know, I loved the idea of video podcasts, but I would suggest if you do video podcast every other week, it will be interesting that way and still have the anticipation for new episdoe every time from your fans )) Also, I bet the more video podcasts you do, the more comfortable you all will get. Its just Dk has been flashing his persona in front of camera for a while now. lol
By Battlecry goes to BORDERLANDS !!!
Omfg Gearbox and 2K, I mean WTF?! I am a PC gamer and this was the only game i was waiting to buy (plus MW2 of course), went spent $50 on a game, started playing a single campaign, got pretty bored with it. Decided to go have fun on multiplayer, saw the lobbies of other players to join, so I did.. try .. to join.. and IT DOESNT WORK! I googled the problem, and it seems like Gearbox didnt put UDnP support for this game, the essential freaking element for connecting users online, either through local net or either through internet… I found the whole freaking page on gearbox forum for ALL pc gamers who bought (…) this game and hoped to play this game online… about 68,000 people viewed it in the last few days… :
http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/forumdisplay.php?f=93
Wow… I mean you actually have to go to your home router, set it up, set up whole bunch of ports, open the firewall on the router, make sure ports work because otherwise, game WOULD NOT HAVE MULTIPLAYER!
Honestly, I am so confused with this game, I thought they promised awesome multiplayer/ coop experience, and if all pc gamers have to go through all that stuff just to be able to join someones game or let someone else join it… this is the worst multiplayer game I have ever had.. never-ever I had to actually physically go and set up the ports on my router, its ridiculous..
I am pissed and I want my money back, it aint worth it.
Congratulations on the big Five 0, gentleman! EBC is by far the best podcast out there and I’m looking forward to many more epic skirmishes!
Keep on rollin’ EBA
!!
ahhhhhhhhmen to that bro WOW
[...] Episode 50 of EpicBattleCry found the three amigos of Axehood celebrating the one year anniversary of EpicBattleAxe.com. On the show they decided to take a look back at what has gone on in the world of gaming since the site’s inception, just twelve months ago. Largely, they chose to focus on some high level trends in the gaming industry that occurred during the last year, such as the progression of digital distribution and the changing tide of console exclusive games. I, however, would like to look at the last twelve months in gaming from a different perspective. I would like to invite you to peer through a different kind of looking glass – one that has proven to be both amazing and insightful to me. It is a perspective that, to the best of my recollection, I have never seen anyone present before now and frankly, I am very surprised. That is not meant to be a self-aggrandizing pat on the back, quite the contrary. It is a feat that turns out to be truly quite simple…Let’s look at the last year by looking at the games! [...]
Wanted to add something else. Those people from other shows, the “stars” of GT… I haven’t even heard of most of them )) I saw the icons for some of video but never actually watched them, so I guess they are getting some exposure this time , huh?)) I just thought its funny. Also saw Marcus from IW first time, pretty cool.
Late getting to post this guys but congratulations on 50 eps!! I love the show and have ever since I ran across it back when it was still in Audio only. I look forward to it every week!
As always dudes..great show! Oh and Brent, nice Seinfeld reference towards the end. Took me a second but I remembered.
I’d like to take a look at Amanada’s Canucks…
My First Post Ever !!!
Episode 50 has hit the fan, and this is the first post I’m making on the site. What better time to do it than on the Grand Slam of episode 50. Been catching the show since it went up on GT.com and no game pod-cast should be without some heavy metal in its intro. I could watch the space shuttle launch ones and never care to see it again. But ill never get tired of watching another show of EBC rev-up and take off. Speaker vol. set to 11.
My First Battle Cry Ever: Go’s out to Tony, DK money, and Brent. You guys seem to have all the fun in the world with this show, and it is well deserved. I couldn’t be happier for you guys. So keep having a blast and I’m sure we “The Axe Heads” will be right here every week holding on for dear life.
Awsome show guys like the video format so if its feesible to keep them up plese do and awsome helment brent.
My Epic Battle Cry goes out to the people who cancled there PC pre orders of call of duty modern warfare 2 or refuse to buy it now. Because activision is trying to control how we play games but worse the price we pay for them. Its time activision relizes that they are in buisiness because of us and they should make products we want and not rip us off and alianate us. Though i have never dont dont approve of pirating games but what does activision think will happen when you ruin the multiplayer so the only thing worth playing is the single player…. i bet the game will be pirated alot more.
Great show fellas, keep up the cameras its nice to see your faces no metter how ugly they are
jk
my battlecry this week goes to BF Bad company 2 limited edition. as you have mentioned before this limited edition gives an in game advantage over the regular users giving some goodies like better tank armor a machine gun a pistol and others stuff.
btw sorry for my bad english..
Guys, congrats on the 50th episode of this awesomeness that is epic battle cry. Waiting to see the next 50 and keep this beauty going
Dude, do your research first… Nobody gets unfair advantage because 2 reasons:
1) The price for Limited Edition is the SAME as the original version
2) The only difference in Limited Edition is that players get unlockable stuff (like guns, tanks or other equipment) right away but other players will still get it later in the game, in the original version. Those items are available to everyone, its just the timing of using them might be different.
Gamestop needs to “STOP”! How could you miss that one?
My battle cry is one of rage so I apologize in advance for any blabbering on and on. I’m not sure if you can do a negative battle cry but this is definitely one. I received an e-mail this evening from X-box about GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony. I was not offended by the title of the game but rather the title of the E-mail. “Blaze Your Way Through The Ballad.” Is this really a responsible way for X-box to treat it’s customers? X-box should have the common sense to know that this title is extremely offensive. This reflects on a bigger issue of homophobia in the video game world. It is simply disgusting, all gamers deserve equal respect and it is crucial for companies to take a stand against such hate.
Hi
First of all i wanna congratulate u guys on your 50th episode of Epic battleaxe.
My Epic Battlecry goes 2 all those awsome games like Shadow complex,Matt Hazard that kinda games like u last talked about, that im never gonna play anyway, cause im a hardcore pcgamer.Im not mad,NoT(at)al but i hoped after trine wich i really loved, they would continue that kind of games true DLC for the PC community.
So i hope my cry goes far enough or its heading forward 2 an epic fail.
Thx for listening and keep up good work
(p.s.:sry for bad english)
Pe@ce
Great show guys! Your face reactions to Daniel’s puns, PRICELESS! Keep the video format. BTW Great comeback Brent, Daniel speechless, PRICELESS ALSO! I’m calling it the preiceless video podcast.
My battlecry goes to publishers that come up with stupid pre-order offers like the one with the Darksiders game, The PEN of the Apocalypse???. I thought they would use blood to write in the Apocalypse but ballpoint pens sound more practical…WTF?
Although I like pre-order bonuses and cool stuff like the GOW3 box and the Assassin’s Creed 2 figurine, A FUCKING BALLPOINT PEN!!! C’mon!!! If the game is as good as the minds behind this scheme it’s going to suck donkey balls. Is like they don’t even care to try and get our 5 bucks.
My battle cry goes out to Austrailia. With the news this week that they are threatening to withhold Modern Warfare 2 from shelves due to the optional terrorist airport mission where civilians are killed coupled with their forced dumbing down of L4D2, it occurs to me that they should be reconsidering their rating system rather than the games they allow to consumers. MA15 is the highest they go. Now, I don’t know what age Austrailia considers someone and adult, but 15? You are depriving the adult population of enjoyable experiences, which they are mentally and maturationally capable of handling, because they have realistic violence and death situations simply because children can still buy the game under the purview of your rating system? Well guess what that means: change the damn system!
Duuuude, do your research first before complaining..
There are two points I have to prove you wrong: heh
1st: the price for Limited Edition is the same as the original edition…
2d: all the “exclusive” crap they showed for the limited edition is in the original edition ALSO.. The only difference is that those people who bought Limited edition (which i don’t see why everyone wouldnt do)get those weapons and extra armor + other small things right away.. and those who will have original, will get the same stuff later, when they get enough level achievements.. Even noobs with all that extra crap will play like noobs and it wouldnt make a difference.
I am just imaging all the people complaining about BC2 Limited Edition stuff are afraid they would suck so bad they they will definetely need some extra armor and a Tommy gun )) lol
God, i saw so many people complain from their first impression and not even freaking read official information..
Also, I would like to give another Battle Cry for this awesome community (savecod.com) that was put by the PC gamers around the World that want to support Modern Warfare 2. Even though IW and Activision keep fucking with us.. Anyways, I just joined Infinity Ward community forums and one of the guys from Britain had this really cool comment about IWNet for PC multiplayer, and also this site where you can sign the petition to allow PC gamers have dedicated servers and mods..
check this out:

My battle cry goes out to Ubisoft Montreal.
After seeing all that they’ve show us so far with Assassins Creed 2 (and also reading/watching previews on sites such as GT, IGN etc) it looks as if they actually listened to the community and did what their fans wanted. I hardly see any game companyies these days actually taking their fans/ communities advice on board and using it to create a better game for those who want to play it. And hell, there were some real issues with ACI, but low and behold it looks like Ubisoft sat down, talked things over and have finally made the game they should have origionally. If ACII sells well (which I’m sure it will) hopefully this sucess will be an inspiration for those other companies outt here who don’t give a flying crap about what their fans want.
my battle cry goes out to NATURAL SELECTION 2!!!
This sequel to the half-life mod natural selection is not getting the recognition it deserves. The first game was revolutionary and combined RTS and FPS seamlessly. I can only hope that this battle cry gets chosen so that more recognition can be given to this awesome title!
My battlecry of the week goes out to PC-players bitching about some of the decisions made by IW regarding MW2. Lately there has been A LOT of this and it is pissing me off. An argument I have heard on several occasions is that “IW owes some of its success with CoD4 to the PC-gaming crowd” and that because of this they owe PC-players.
This is such a bizarre argument. Sure, CoD has its roots on the PC and yes, PC-players who have bought the game have supported IW with their dollars, but you cannot disregard the fact that you have gotten value for your money! You put up your dough, you got the product, they don’t owe you jackshit. IW and PC-players are square.
Buying a product does not grant you influence over the company that created it. You want influence over IW? Buy enough fucking stocks to be the major shareholder, then you do what the hell you want.
If you don’t like what MW2 is shaping up to be on the PC then don’t buy the product it is just that easy, you have already gotten the value for the money you spent on their previous products.
What IW does with their next game is their business. Surely the game would probably sell more copies if IW included a bit more fan-service for PC users but that is their problem.
IW only owes itself for the success of CoD4. They developed a great game that appealed to the masses and marketed it the right way. The fact that you bought the game is the end result of their achievements and the success of the game lies with the company, not with the users. If you don’t like the game the best you can do is speak with your wallet.
Finally I’d like to say that I did actually buy the PC version of CoD4, I had over 250 hours of fun playing the game since release. I do think that the removal of dedicated servers sounds ominous but it might work out in the end. However the bitching about the capping of players/server is just silly, the maps in the game are probably created with these limitations in mind. Moreover, I must say that I had a fucking miserable time playing 32 player matches on some of the smaller maps in CoD4, although this is a personal preference.
sorry amanda i totally didnt hear wat u said… did anyone else catch wat she said????
congratulations guys! best podcast ever. ive been absent from the forums for a minute, but ive always kept up to date on the awesomeness that is the epicbattlecry podcast. congrats on your new 50, and the best of luck for the upcoming fifty and many more. cheers fellas!

You have a nice article… have a great day.
