Sweet! Nice and early.
the rapper you guys are referring to is LIL JON, Dave Chappelle did a skit on his show spoofing it lol
Don’t forget the EA Servers went down yesterday lol
Great show guys — as always. This whole thing with IW and Activision is really BS. Corporate is greedy and the devs don’t want their baby ran into the ground. I can see why IW would want to breech their contract.
I’ve always liked the SP of Call of Duty and since CoD4 and MW2 it has been great. Story and gameplay are spot on. I really want to see MW3 from IW.
However, not a fan of MP. I’ve always just played the Battlefield games — since 1942. Bad Company 2 is now number 1 for me with BF2 in a close second (even after 5 years). I still play some Team Fortress 2 but that’s because one of my first online games was the first Team Fortress (Classic).
Haha I can tell from the start of the episode and the title this should be a good discussion.
right on, great episode and i can’t wait for next week’s!
the person who mentioned tony hawk and guitar hero, was me. ^^
i hope activision lose the lawsuit.
I dont really care if the ex-IW guys are right or not…just screw Bobby Kotdick!!
You should all go go over to kotaku and read the document (lawsuit) filed by the guys from IW. It is very enlightening as to their intentions in regards to their former hopes and aspirations as employees, and now their future destiny as founders of a new game development company taking all their workers with them to work on new and different IP . . . . and telling Acti-sh!theads to shove the CoD franchise where the sun don’t shine! Now show us our f**ing royalty check Kotex , you royal asshat!!!
Lol @ “Relsease the Kotick”
I laughed pretty hard at the beginning there I believe your thinking of Mike Jones. The “WHO! MIKE JONES” plays throughout most of this song – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iPINFbs9KE
I love how all these rappers like Mike Jones, Lil Jon, DMX come up with one song that is popular at the time but everybody just makes fun of them later.
The same thing went through my mind when they mentioned it lol, I didn’t read the comments but I’m sure a lot of us posted how Activision has ruined franchises in the past.
My BattleCry goes to the PSP Go… And it’s predicted failure…
Sony announced the PSP Go as the first Digital ONLY hardware device and everyone were exited about it to start with. A week before the release, it was just as if everyone finally understood the meaning of “Digital Only” and started bitching about the fact that the PSP Go CAN NOT play UMD’s.
Soooo, that said, what would happen if Sony put a second pad on the PSP Go? Since they already promised to keep on supporting the original PSP, and the GO was not meant to take it’s place, there was no way they could put another pad on the PSP Go. That would automatically force people to buy the PSP Go in order to play games that require 2 pads. This would turn people around the world even more berserk over the PSP Go.
Also, what would happen if the PSP Go had 2 pads, more horse powers, but was called “PSP 2”? I believe most of us would find it too soon to release a sequel to the original PSP and start bitching about that instead. What I’m trying to say is, Sony had a difficult position from day one…
PSP Go is, in my opinion, a luxury toy for people who don’t already own the original PSP. And also, for people who doesn’t mind buying Digital Games instead of buying REAL physical games.
I hope I made my “BattleCry” clear… It’s hard as ice to explain in English :S Great Episode BTW! Looking forward to hear your thoughts about God Of War 3 next week… If you guys have played it by then….
you know? i’ve hated Bobby Kotick for a long time. i feel now that i wasn’t just bitter, angry or jelous, i was fucking right!
i boycotted MW2 purely because he is evrything you’ve all said he is. i was disappointed not to play MW2, but now i feel as tho there is some hope.
i just hope that the IW guys are awarded loads of money through this court battle, go indie and then avoid a publisher altogether (some how? i neither know nor care) and start making the games they wanna make for themselves and their fans.
if they go to EA, i’m boned cos i’ve sworn of those guys too.
jesus christ! why are publishers such douce-bags?!?!? (rhetorical that one, alright? [as was that]).
You guys missed to censor the F-word when talking about Modern Warfare around the 8th minute mark.
Great episode!
excellent, i feel sorry for the guys at infinity ward, i would not wanna work for activision, sounds like a bunch jewish nazis, sorry if that affends
Steam came to the mac it was announced today, you guys almost got that in the show
My Epic battle cry goes out to PC gamming because EA has officially said that there are more people playing battle field bad company 2 online on the PC then x box 360 or ps3 and they say PC gamming is dead. I also belive it shows what happens when you take a big game and dont have dedicated servers.
as for the activision if this whole thing goes south they only have one man to blame and fire.
Well Xbox user want it FFXIII on the console, this is what they get. Reality check….
I have a question for everyone.
Am I the only who was disappointed by the just cause 2 demo?
it felt so…….. bad
I think is was fun, but wall cover suck on it. I was a little disappointed on the demo myself. It was like Mercenaries 2 but more polished.
And BTW Bobby Kotick is an A$$, I don’t care what happen between Hitlervision and Infinity Ward but if this goes down without Activision fabricating evidence in the matter…. He’s such a corporate bitch. Feel better now, thanks.
No, it’s DMX
Isn’t Microsoft doing something similar with Halo to what Activision is doing with CoD? There is a whole studio dedicated to Halo games on top of whatever they can get Bungie to do. We are seeing negative effects of that already, I think. Just look at how hard Bungie is trying to convince everyone that Halo Reach will be different.
Now, I love Halo and I’d get Reach no matter what but the series has already lowered my excitement for a sequel/prequel just after two OK releases (Halo Wars and ODST). Note that the two releases weren’t even bad at all. They were both good games, just not Halo 1, 2, 3, good.
The same way, this whole milking strategy will backfire for Activision. They will make a butt load of money within a few years but much less than they could in the long run, if they took care to give the franchises the proper respect. The gamers will quickly get tired of the same game every year AND there is fat chance of any CoD games being MW 1 and 2 good without Infinitry Ward (just compare IW’s CoD’s and Treyarch’s CoD’s).
DK, you’re fucking hilarious with that lame rap. I cracked me up to death.
Holy Crap! I won?? On my first battlecry even, how ’bout that
And FYI it is pronounced (MUR thon) and it is a slight alteration of Myrddin Wyllt which is Merlin yes. Cool!
Anyways! Great episode as always guys, laughed my a** off and thanks for the “sweet, a** GOG Action!!”
Listen, guys, the reason games didn’t function offline was because the internal clock fed the operative system a date that doesn’t exist, causing the operative system clock to reset to Dec 31 1999.
This in turn caused conflict with automatically synching trophies in certain games.
Internet connection had nothing to do with you not being able to play the games.
Oh, and also, Daniel, PLEASE stop saying “Sweet ass GOG action”. Good job on making every listener feel filthy. I have to take a rape shower every time I hear it.
Thanks
Thanks guys, another great episode. DK so hilarious commenting with that accent on the IW vs. Activision topic
My BattleCry goes out to developers that don’t require you do be connected to the internet to play games or to access DLC for games. If you buy a game or DLC to play by yourself you shouldn’t need to have internet access just to play that game or DLC. Like Assassin’s Creed 2 you can’t even play it without connecting to the internet, and just recently their servers were down and nobody could play it, there’s no reason to alienate your audience by doing that. And with Rockband you need to connect to the internet just to play a song that you downloaded from the music store. What’s the point of making someone connect to the internet just for something that’ a few kilobytes in size? I don’t get it but I hope this doesn’t become a new trend.
Holy crap the Bobby Rap part almost made me shit my pants
What an awesome way to start the show lol
Nobody cares about Activion. Every gamer I know will follow Infinity Ward with their wallets, and Activision is only making themselves out to be the evil corporation that is only trying to maximize their profits.
Portal 2 would be awesome as well as Half-life Episode 3 or just Half-life 3.
My battlecry goes to Cracked.com where they have published alot great articles about almost everything in the world. Even about games and gaming. But nothing so far has been so good as the last article. Just go read it and you will understand.

[...] a sh#t? Do you care or are you a sick of it as I am? When I heard the boys bring the subject up on this week’s episode of EpicBattleCry I wanted to punch myself in the face. Fortunately for us (and my face), the three amigos are very [...]
DK, you must have eaten your Wheaties that morning, because what you had to say (even the punny things) were quite cogent. I enjoy it when you’re on point.
Spot on about loyalty to infinity ward over activision… hence why I’m not buying any treyarch fps ever again. (I’ll rent anything else they do that looks good if I want to check it out).
My Battlecry goes out to Ubisoft and there idea of bringing content to the game – within the game.
UPlay-Points is the term here.
Its such a great idea to not charge the player for something thats already on the disk, we all know that.
Ubisoft does a great job by giving the player a chance to unlock certain things in the game while playing through it.
For Example on Assassin’s Creed II you not only unlock Achievements for your gamercard you even unlock points which are able to redeem within the Uplay-integration.
In ACII it is “just” the old ‘Altair-Costume’, a theme and a new Map.
But in terms of Splinter Cell you get a whole new game typ to redeem with your earlier unlocked points.
On the Marketplace this would be like 400MS points, which is real money in fact. Who knows what else is there to redeem just by playing the game..
This is more like the way i like it to be. don’t charge me for something i already paid for. just give me some time so that i can unlock points to redeem a code or points for certain things.
think about it.its just great.
Uplay supports 3 games so far. ACII, the upcoming Splinter Cell: Conviction and the upcoming R.U.S.E
props to ubisoft for this brilliant idea!
cheers from germany,

hey guys great show ass usual. My battle cry goes out to Game Stop and trade in values. It is ridiculous the amount of money you receive on trade ins. Most of the time you get about one third the amount of the original price. Then they go ahead and sell it used for almost full price. I think everybody should stand against and during the purchase of a brand new game unwrap it in their face in the store and ask how much I can get for the trade in. Everyone just keep on doing it so they known how stupid they are.
Thanks Epic Battle Axe. Cry havoc and dont forget Game Stop is the Galactus of the video game world.
My Battle Cry goes out to Brent for his insight on the whole product/service debate. He hit the nail on the head. The idea that anyone should pay $60 for a one time play through of any game is ludicrous. Games derive their value from replayability just like music and movies. Whow ants to hear a great song just once, or watch a great movie once? You want to experience it many times and get something new out of it occasionally. We are seeing quite a lot of shallow games that look great graphically but do not offer anything new gameplay-wise. Where is the replayability? Mirrors Edge is a great game that actually has innovative gameplay and unique graphics, and the reason it didn’t make big money is because it was too short and had no multiplayer to give it further replayability. It’s not that developers need to make more money; they need to make better games.
I still watch this just to hear the DK rap.. it just never gets old!
