LET THE SKIRMISH COMMENCE!!!
Good episode, one thing I couldn’t help notice though. So when Capcom announced the tournament DLC for SSFIV it was all like “why not just put it in the game,” but when Rockstar announces their future DLC they get props? Come on, guys.

SWEET LEMONADE!
I saw that vid awhile ago and you guys brought it back to memory… LOL
Great Episode as always guys!

@AriesWarlock
It is because Rockstar is giving the DLC out for free instead of what capcom does and charges for it.
What’s up guys, let’s start swinging some axes!
My BattleCry has to go out to my current favorite game, Beat Hazard. Not only is it an awesome indie game, with a developer who is active in listening to the community and updating, but it also fits the user-generated content niche perfectly. Beat Hazard is a shoot-em-up game that uses any music file on your computer to generate enemies and power up your weapons!
The user has a huge effect on the games content. There’s nothing like putting your favorite song on and exploding things with massive laser beams during the guitar solo. You could easily record your own garage band and stick it in the game, there’s even a video of someone who recorded himself screaming into a microphone just to see what would happen in-game.
Overall, it’s a pretty awesome experience, and I think any gamer who likes music would also like this game.
James, I believe the tournament DLC is free as well.
Its actually because an extra game mode should be on the disc at release. In the case of RDR, it would take up too much space to fit on the DVD (blame Xbox on this one, my fellow PS3 supporters).
Tony Grice is a Nintedo fanboy… true story.
TONNNYYYYY!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! KEEP LEMONADE STORIES TO URSELF!
Gracious axe lords, how art thou?
I really think you shouldn’t beat yourselves up for the result of the poll. They had it coming (not the developpers, the money grubbing producers of the film) !
However, if you’d like to redeem yourselves, you could review the game on its own merits. (And I really think you should.) That way you could justify or rectify the result of the poll.
PS
I really love how you take something funny thing that happened on the week and use it on the show like the “merry xmas to the ground !” or this sweet lemonade xDDDDD
Epic battle Axe is one of the greatest gaming websites because it’s funny and very informative I think the best user creator games was the older Lego games in the late 90 and early two thousands like Lego creator, Lego creator Knights Kingdom, and Lego land. Modnation racers is basically lego stunt rally where it had a great track design program fused with lego racers where it had a better car creator and character creator. These Lego games allowed you to take thousands of different Lego sets put them together and do what you want with them with out the mess and your mom yelling at you to clean up your room. Before i got the actual game to some of these I would spend hours on the demo witch didn’t have everything. Yall have even mentioned lego Indiana Jones as having a great Lego creator. Lego is one of the great gaming franchises that has a great that always delivers even with there movie games
Look at my horse. My horse is amazing.
Give it a lick. (mmm!) It tastes just like raisins!
Have a stroke of it’s mane, it turns into a plane
And then it turns back again when you tug on its winky
Ooooh thats dirty!
Do you think so?
Well, I better not show you where the lemonade is made
Sweet lemonade
hmm sweet lemonade
sweet lemonade
yeah sweet lemonade
…
Get on my horse
I’ll take you round the universe
And all the other places too
I think you’ll find that the universe pretty much covers everything
Shut up woman get on my horse!

My friends and I started listening to it over and over again for the past two months and we can’t get it out of our heads. We all keep singing it.
(Double post was an accident, when attempting first post it came up with an error so I assumed it didn’t post)
Hey guys. My Cry of Battle is for a new version of the FPS genre. I’ve had this idea for a new form of FPS where instead of guns, bombs and mines, you use swords or other close range weaponry. Think something like the Elder Scrolls meets Halo or Modern Warfare. You would have the perspective of an FPS, but have swords, spears, axes, daggers; the list goes on and on. With a game like this, people could not take the classic forms of weapons to build a character, but could also delve into fantasy genres, and even other games and use the weapons in new ways. Considering the intensity and adrenaline rush the best online games have to offer, I think it’s only right that we have a game where we can bring down a katana or war axe or, hell, a buster sword down on a rivals head and get that same rush. Big fan of show. May the Battle Axe of Epicness cut through the crap for many years to come!
Totally awesome show guys, as always! Love it, keep it up and rock on to 100+!
well I would agree with you 100% if rockstar dlc turns out to be something stripped out of the game but come on a tournament mode that should be part of any beat em up as day one dlc f*ck right off
I haven’t watched it yet, but judging by the title, it’l be a good one lol
Hi guys, love the show.
My battle cry goes out to a game thats been overlooked by most gaming websites and that is Nier.
It seems to me that this game has gotten little praise mainly due to its poor graphics. However it is a really fun ARPG with smooth, responsive controls and interesting story and characters.
What I really like about this game is that its a Japanese game published by Square Enix but it has none of the typical downfalls of a Square Enix game. Almost all ARPG in recent memory that were published by Square Enix have pretty much been crap. But this one shines where it needs to.
It does have its faults but most of them are minor or optional. It has true quality where game should have it, gameplay and story.
Also the game is getting some sweet DLC within a month of release. No word of pricing or a solid date yet but im hoping they dont screw it up because im looking forward to it.
Help me EBC you’re my only hope! Posted on GT website last week, and I’m trying to get a response on here. This seems a great time because we’re talking about user created content. I like many other’s are looking to get into the gaming industry. I was hoping that there could be some info mentioned (or just freakin e-mail me lol), about good acredited schools that deal with making games. Invisible Walls (the second rate show on GT) did a very short segment on Gnomon, and checking out the site, doesn’t seem like they’re an acredited school. I’m hoping you can show up IW, and actually provide some info on good schools. ITT and Devry have courses for graphics/programming, but I’m not sure they really focus on the gaming aspect. I’m kinda in a desperate state, as I want to get a good gaming degree that will be accepted say at a company like Bioware. As Brent stated you have to have experience, but I need to know where to go to get the best training/experience. Thanks guys, you’d really help me and I’m sure alot of want to be game developers out if you could give some info.
Jazz Horse FTW!
http://www.weebls-stuff.com/toons/Jazz+Horse/
BTW, we with my buddies danced a whole night to the original last summer. Yeah… we have issues.
Hey guys, first time poster, but have been following the podcasts for god know’s how long.
The fact that you asked for opinions about user created content sparked the attention.
If there is ANY developer that should get some credit for it it is without a doubt Bethesda Softworks.
Everyone who loves rpg’s knows the Elder scroll tales.
But as with all rpg’s after the last treath has been killed off and the world is safe again, rpg’s tend to get stuck in the closet and never come out again (insert pun).
Bethesda solved this problem nicely with teh TES editor, allowing people to create, well just about everything possible, with “there” engine and world, there are tons and tons! of user generated content online that can increase your gameplay time on for example Morrowind for at least 200+ hours.
And ive got to say seeing the white tower from the Lord of the rings saga standing there rising into the clouds, that has been build to serve as a dungeon from scratch, by fans cause of Bathesda allowing them to play around with everything there game has to offer, is in 1 word awsome.
First: Props to Brent for reading faster than a professional journalist can listen…
You see what I just did… I called DK a professional.
Main section: Let’s get this out of the way. I am and have been what one could call a ‘pc-pure’ gamer because of my inability to use a controler… but LBP2 (and this talk about it in part 2) has me strongly considering buying a PS3 just for this game and it’s crazy ambitions.
If you’d asked me yesterday, even the thought of buying a console would have been ridiculous to me. The 360 lineup had me thinking that maybe, possibly the next-gen xbox would be a distant relative of an option… but a PS3… no way on earth would lead me to that.
ah, well… See what one day can change… or one skirmish of EBC, if you like that explanation better.
Third: don’t worry DK, I was laughing
yeah that vid has been out for a while but its so good to hear and see it again…hmmm give it a lick :p
AMEN
It seems everything Rockstar does with RRD is surrounded in enormous hype, despite the fact they are dpng th exact same thing with DLC…
another great show guys, keep up the good work.
DK we love the puns dude, no matter what others say.
it was a good laugh after the canucks lost to the blackhawks last night.
These are good points gang. As we mention on the show (and site) quite often, each case needs to be taken into consideration on an individual basis. Sure, we discuss the nuts and bolts of each offering, but there is the other side of things that we like to bring up and consider…like how the gamer feels about what the dev/publisher is bringing to the table.
In Capcom’s case, there has been a lot of decisions that seemingly leave the fans on the outside looking in…maybe feeling a bit like an afterthought to the business of gaming. By the time the Tourney mode for SSFIV was announced, there was a track record to consider and if you recall, we debated whether or not it was a step in the right direction as opposed to just bashing it without full consideration.
With RDR, a new and unproven IP, it seems to us that this particular DLC is being offered in a reasonable fashion which is what we tried to communicate in the show. That said, I also mentioned that the DLC is a moot point if the game itself is lackluster, which we must be open to no matter how hyped up we are for a given release.
Anyway, we welcome your thoughts and discussion on the matter, but hopefully that helps deliver some insight to better understand what we were communicating about that DLC in this week’s show.
Thx for watching!
DK MONEY SHIZZLE ALL UP IN YOUR GA-RIZZLE (or something…)
HAHA omg that was beyond funny,
LOVE THIS SHOW pls move it to Sunday night or Monday morning, i want to start my week on a better note,
also brent i feel your pain, however i also infected ppl with that song for weeks..its like a zombie infestation
keep up the good work guys
DK, what is shady with my email? I did not get a message. Anyway, thanks for picking me and great episode.
Thanks for another free episode.
Is there anyway to offer a non-chopped up video without further destroying your bandwidth usage?
Always end up waiting for this to appear on GT.com so I can watch a non-chopped video.
Rather give you guys the website traffic but the chopped up videos take longer to load and buffer and ruin the comedy flow and are like fingernails down a chalkboard!
Great job guys. As always a fantastic show and thanks for chopping it up with us every week.
PSNID:jboyjeeks
Nevermind! See you guys brought back the video download link again! Thanks!
Well, maybe you don’t need to review it… I just saw the review of the game on GT and it SUUUUUUUUUCKS, and it sucks hard !
Those mother fucking greedy-ass sons of bitches !
The hell with those goddamn movie producers ! (or whoever is micromanaging developpers and shit)
Hey Guys. First time watcher, long time commenter. My Epic Battle Cry goes out to the new fan created flash game out called “Super Mario Crossover.” If you haven’t played it, essentially you are allowed to go through Super Mario 1 as a group of different characters from old NES titles; such as Mega-Man, Samus, Link, Contra, and the dude from Castlevania. What’s great about it, is that as a kid you always wondered what it might be like to play other games as other characters, and here it’s been implemented to perfection. All the power-ups feel native to the respective characters as do the controls (etc. Mega-Man’s jump is still super cheap) I think this shows the power of user based mods and the effect it can have on the gaming community. Technically it’s not really user-generated content, but it is in the same vain I feel. It was a cool “what if” scenario, and done very well. I actually wished as I was playing that I could have bought it on wiiware or something. Thanks a lot. You guys are awesome. This is the game. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/534416
Also I made this movie for your viewing pleasure. *SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT* http://pokemonliveactionmovie.com/
so you haven’t heard? you can use a keyboard n mouse on LBP2. i think they may have thought of everything…
I thought the difference between the 2 was that Capcom was releasing the tournament mode DLC the same day the game was coming out. As for Red Dead Redemption, the DLC will not come out till about a month later.
i never heard of that song, so i had to go look it up
Great episode as always boys!!
+1 to Daniel for going to a media molucule meeting in london
My EBC goes out to the Xbox Indie games section. With the tools given to you by Microsoft you can create your own simple games and get them published for (almost) everyone to see and buy. If you are succesfull enought you can earn some cash and eventually go on to make bigger and better games! And seeing how game developing is the dream for ALOT of people right now, that is a great opportunity!
I think that first person shooters should be able to have some more user generated content because one of my favorite things to do is to make maps in halo 3 forge and people always complain about the price of dlc so if they don’t want to buy maps they should be able to make their own.
Wow, I guess you guys JUST watched the amazing horse video for the first time ever… lol
a friend sent me it several months ago. it’s so great. I had it on loop in my headphones while I did other things for like 2 hours. lol
if you like that, check out the Pork Remix video and other stuff on Weebls.
[...] that I feel is more strongly in need of my attention. This is one of those weeks. That being said, this week’s episode of EpicBattleCry is as expertly crafted and comically poignant as ever, and you should listen to it as soon as you [...]
New World Order http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URR–H97sYQ&feature=related. Stick to the classics, guys, please!
Great show, guys. DK Muneh Shizzle, interested in lemonade much?
Anyway, I think this is the third time I’m directing my Cry to Activision and all the so-called boycotting gamers that won’t be able to keep their hands off anything Activision puts on the market, regardless of the eeeevil ways of Mr. Kotik, thus showing he’s got nothing to fear. Here, here for the gamers’ inability to make a stand (not even a lemonade stand).
Get on my horse!
Love the podcast guys, keep up the good work.
The problem I think Nintendo will have is when my generation grows up and has kids and grand kids.
Hardcore gamers becoming parents will be the end for Nintendo with their current business plan. Why would we buy a wii for our kids? Motion controllers are coming to PS3 and 360, you can’t watch and play HD games and movies on it. The games are much better on on the two other consoles and sure Wii is more childisch but 360 and PS3 has alot of good kids games. I grew up with Crash Bandicoot and not Mario.
I will never let my kids play with a nintendo console as they are now.
ahhh amazing horse is ringing through my ears!
my EBC goes out to the wii HD and that its their responce to their inevitable obselescence, i guess the PS3′s move may however just be that with a bit more kick-ass-ness. Of all the solutions, the wii HD, move and natal i think that natal is the daftest of all, games aren’t at the stage where you don’t need a controller. however of all the three natal will probably be the one with the most potential user generated content, excluding the demo where they showed LBP with move support. Which of these two if any do you guys think will be the wii killer for casual and hardcore games.
Enjoy the show each week, gj fellas
My EBC
Online Pass and ‘project ten dollar’
I’m much more a PC gamer these days but I’ve always had consoles and I find this strategy a strange affair in many ways.
When people sell-on other used products like computers, cars, DVDs and many other items in outlets like papers, markets or online markets like ebay… they don’t have to reimburse who ever made that product originally..
Although I don’t think this is terrible, it does put a spanner in the works when borrowing games from friends or renting which traditionally has been a staple of game culture.
I Think they had already solved the problem with the 10 dollar ViP code for future free game updates/expansions/DLC etc.
the very fact paid DLC has taken off on consoles now also adds more recuperative revenue per title already!
A move to denying all online game play and features for second hand buys is to me one step to far, countless times over the years I’ve borrowed a game from a pal or rented it and gone on to buy the game fully if I enjoyed the experience.
its not clear cut enough of an issue for a jump to shut down all online features in my opinion.
Hey guys me and my friends, here in Denmark have been watching your show for awhile now, and I thought it was time to try posting a battlecry, so here goes.
My BattleCry goes out to Blizzard and the map editor that accompany both warcraft and starcraft series, I think that this is an perfect example of a why to have user generated content in a game, not only does et help improve on the original game by giving us the ability to make new maps to play, but some times it also helps to a spawn hole new game, for example the Dota game was a hugely popular custom map in warcraft 3, and that has continued on in game like League of legends. and with the improvements they are making to the map editor in starcraft 2, which seem follow the motto of little big 2, that your are able to create new games within this game.
thats my battlecry, and thanks you for making and awesome show.
Sun…
Exacty almight axe master! great show as always guys keep it up.
Thought you guys should know that the guy who beat Super Mario Brothers with the dance pad just did it again…with Megaman 2.
Im glad I can depend on you guys to always have a great show unlike Invisible Walls… they are miss more than hit especially as of late, so Im glad someone know how to make a great show.
I’d say my battle cry gamewise would have to go out to 3D Dot Game Heroes and their character editor that allows you to make your hero to play the game with and the Dev making a page to submit your characters on for others to download.Only thing that would make it better is if you could make your on levels too and upload them for others to play.
Damn DK, you should’ve said you were heading to London, I could’ve shown you a few real pubs.
HMMMM Sweet lemonaaaaadeeee YEAH Sweet lemonaaaade
