While weekly updates were what was originally intended, Microsoft’s Game Room service hasn’t seen an update since its initial rollout a month ago. Plans were to begin seeing weekly releases for Game Room about now, but things don’t seem to be going well for Microsoft’s virtual arcade service. Microsoft Europe Xbox Live editor Daniel Maher posted to his Twitter account, indicating the planned game releases had been placed on indefinite hold:
The latest batch of Game Room content has also been delayed until further notice – I’ll let you know once a new date is confirmed.
And before you get excited thinking that only applies to Europe, Microsoft’s American response (via Larry Hryb) was a bit more cryptic, though equally as informative:
“We’re working to bring you additional Game Room titles as soon as possible! We appreciate your patience, and we’ve been thrilled by the community response so far. We want to provide you with the best experience possible, so stay tuned!!”
So that’s all we know at the moment; no official word on why the delay is happening; no estimated release window. We’ll keep you updated as we get more news on this.

Maybe Microsoft have woken up to the fact people are just not that interested in fluttering away MS points away on ole Arcade games that can be freely downloaded off the internet.
On another note with Microsoft Piracy running at 45% of all 360 Sold since its release and the recent development of Jtag bypassing all security features on the 360 mainly for DLC & running Emulators, all Arcade games can be easly downloaded and played for free on the 360.
With companys like Microsoft, Apple & Hollwood pushing Digital rights, they are making old out of date games, movies & music and giving it a present day value that they have decided on, remembering old Arcade game have always been freely available online long befor the 360 etc.
If the profits (or lack of) made by Microsoft on old retro are not equalaly distributed back to the original developers then the groth of retro Arcade games will die off as developers will see it as nothing more than Microsoft making money off thier backs, which is most likely the case with rights holders of up comeing releases less interested in joining Games Room due to the unequal share in the profits generated.
I would be more interested in the Game Room if the interface didn’t suck like all hell. It gave me a goddamned headache whenever I tried to do anything. Really? That was the best they could come up with.
Old games would be cool and everything just give me an easier way of accessing them. Maybe like project gotham’s car room or something. That would be cool. Good old galaxy wars sittin in the corner.
Haha, yes it’s the best they could come up with because they were trying to make the interface as cheaply as possible thinking this was a goldmine to loot. Looks like people are speaking with their wallets.
