Within one of the most flooded genres of gaming, Bethesda and Splash Damage are attempting to deliver something unique…something interesting…something than can in fact push shooting games and their fans to the brink. As a blend of single-player, co-op, and multiplayer, the upcoming Brink allows gamers to develop their character each and every time they pick up the controller. With a unique graphical style and plenty of hardcore, fast-paced action, the SMART movement system (preview video above), and context-sensitive goals and rewards, Brink is bringing A LOT to the table. Question is, do you think it offers enough to stand out from the crowd or are you feeling the game will fall short of expectations?
We wanna hear from you about your interest in Brink, so check out some more vids, read up on the game’s official website, or do whatever you need to in order to give us and your fellow Axeheads some quality feedback on this promising looking title. Oh, and be sure to vote in our weekend poll about the game as well. Personally, I think Brink is looking pretty amazing, but now it’s time to hear from you!

first i must say i am a little biased. i have been playing wolfenstein: enemy territory for many years and really liked (the sadly overlooked) enemy territory: quake wars.
in my opinion splash damage always delivers a unique game that really needs teamwork to win. its not a “kill everyone who stands” game mechanic since not everybody is a headshot-killing-machine and therefore its nice to have different missions for different types of players. i have a soft spot for such games..
in short: i am excited. but the e3 walkthrough(that ventilator level) wasn’t looking that good. but splash damage has still some time to work on it.
cheers

They are indeed bringing a lot to the table, and thus far it looks like good eatin’.
Still, I’m going to have to see a LOT more media on this game before it becomes a sure thing for me. Cool concepts don’t always equal great gameplay, and I’m still smarting from putting too much faith in Too Human.
Also, is it me, or do all the characters look like they were taken directly out of Genesis’ “Land of Confusion” video?
If Phil Collins is in Brink, I’m giving up gaming forever.
I’ve been following this game since E3 2009 and I can honestly say its the type of FPS I’ve been waiting for.
The closest game you can compare it to is Mirror’s Edge because I uses a free running mechanic but unlike that game, Brink has combat on the mind first. Splash Damage is taking combat and free running and are trying to figure out all the way they can congeal together.
The customization is awesome(even at the cost of having no female avatars) and its TF2 style class system that you can switch during battle (kiosk style) is evolutionary.
but my favorite part of what they’ve been working on is trying to make Single-Player and Multiplayer come together under one roof. If it all goes well, people who only play single-player games will feel right at home if they jump into multiplayer as all the features and story should be the same for both. And with co-op that’s suppose to be seamless without leaving the game, I can’t wait.
it’s been one of the most anticipated games on my list. moved down a bit due to their “not impressive” gameplay videos @ e3
I’ve been looking forward to this game since it was a blurb in some “Upcoming projects” article from Bethesda.
Shadowrun while a commercial failure was really 2nd to TF2 in the NATURAL (not forced) desire to play as a team.
This to me appears to be Shadowrun w/ a budget and Splash has alot of experience in making online oriented team games.
Although it looks like the FPS I’ve been w8ing for, it’ll need to have well designed environments for me to buy it, since I don’t want to play CoD:MW2, Gears of War 2, and Mirror’s Edge ugly bastard child.
I will definitely give it a try.
only thing i dont like about it is that u need like half of the clip to kill someone.. thats not fun, customization looks sweet, im not sure about quests inside the mission.
I don’t like online games but I think I could make an exception for this…
This game looks pretty cool. Love the artstyle and the customisation. Also the free running things will be a great change from getting stuck on 3 inch rocks or boards like someone with no knee- or hipjoints(yeah Bad Company 2, im talking to you!).
Definitely some potential in my book. But my book is different from a lot of books.
Ever since i’v saw Yamakazi wich is a french movie about parkour/free running By Luc Besson i have dreamed about a great game consept for this, mirrors edge sure was a dream come true for me but Brink is basicly exactly what i was waiting for since 2001 when Yamakazi was relesed
the SMART movment lookes awsome and i cannot belive that no one else have tried it before.. correct me if im wrong tho
I’m so pumped for this game, it has everything that could make it a “addictive” game experience, XP, Character customization and Weapon customization plus Class customization.. if that’s not enough its a fresh take on the FPS genra. Plus Bethesda is one of my favorite companies. Me and Bethesda goes a long way back in the pc gaming history
I have hopes for this game but it still got to prove itself.
When its out it will get a chance to by being rentet for a weekend with some friends and if it delivers I will buy it.
I think if can only be profitable in the same way Borderlands was.
Arrgh! I can’t stand SMART controls. Viceral was bad enough, but at least they put it in games with plane, linear environment. Why people still want to map every action to one button. What is wrong with SPRING, JUMP, CROUCH be separate commands. And depending on the way you use them with the move controls they do special moves like climb, slide, wall jump, etc. All this context sensitive auto crap sounds as functional and precise as motion controller – wave to shoot yourself.
Smart backgrounding and customization are the name of the game. Developer and former Applethis
Thanks for sharing, Such nice infomations. Regards.Welcome to say something about my recent shopping experience:coach handbags outlet ,coach purses.
“Arrgh! I can’t stand SMART controls.”
Stop being so narrow minded and prejudice. You havent even given the game a chance and the only other games that share the control scheme is Assassin’s Creed and Mirrors edge. They we’re the most successful games of thier types, so if it aint broke, don’t fix it. These are proffesional game developers and testers. They’re implementing it because it just works.
Have you even played call of duty? There’s not enough controls to add movement buttons because they’ve all been mapped already. You have to understand, it’s not just a parkour game, but it’s a strategic team based FPS. The context sensitive movement is made to make getting around the environment easier, not harder.
Extremely old video, but cool never the less.
