Typically we play during the evenings on weekends. Check the DayZ event tag to see upcoming game nights. For official group sessions, we play 3dp:off and CH:on

Here's the server list we play on:

Arma is a weird beast and if you turn somethings too low they will stop being processed by the GPU and start on the CPU. Biggest thing you can do for your framerate is the distance. almost no interactions in DayZ happen beyond 1500 meters sooo you can turn that shit down. Also towns will crater your framerate no matter what right now. Crank everything especially shadows to normal or high.  Also google is your friend here.

Hi everyone -  i have started to dip my toes in DayZ and PC gaming water since a few days and I forgot how many options there are two adjust the game to run properly.

I have Laptop with an  Intel Core i7 2630QM (2.00GHz);

8GB Memory and a AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 2GB.

Can you guys recommend me what to turn on / off to get a good fluent experience while it still doesn't look to bad?

I tried to set 1080p resolution but even on low detail settings i didn't get a decent framerate.

Surely the problem is in front of the screen... since it has been a long while since I played my last game on PC....

I don't think we have a server. I play on random servers with other axeheads. I'll PM for your steam

Hey ya'll trying to find our server on the DayZ SA but no go. Can anyone give me a walkthrough of how to search for or otherwise find the servers that the axehead army plays on?

Yes, i've played epoch before, on a PVE server actually and it's a lot of fun. Does feel more like a Co-op/MMO game rather than the Deathmatch DayZ can feel like at times and you do have more things to keep you entertained like base building and random missions. What's your steam Martin? We should play together some time, CountDrac just got the game and he's very much a noob at the moment but i've been thinking for a couple of days about playing with him on a PVE server so he can learn the basics before he has to worry about the bandits and combat stratergies of regular DayZ

Have any of you played DayZ Epoch?

It has traders and crafting elements to the gameplay. Some of the servers are PVE which for some players may think like a lame idea, but it allows you to concentrate on foraging materials and building yourself a base without the fear of some sniper taking pot shots at you.

On Epoch it much easier to obtain Hero status as you get points for killing zombies. This allows you to buy from the Hero trader once you reach 5000 humanity for the best guns and aircraft.

The zombies are still there of course and if you get an infection and die before curing yourself you respawn as a zombie and can attack other players.

You can buy lockable vehicles so nobody can steal your gear or drive it away whilst your offline. I'm currently playing on a PVE server called Zetland Survivors server and I use the name Arthur-itis. Give it a try, after all, its free.

@Ernest P

Your best bet is to download DayZ Commander: http://www.dayzcommander.com/

It's the easiest way to update Arma 2, DayZ, and all the maps/mods that are available. Once you're updated, use the server browser to filter for whatever map you want to play. Hit me up here or on Steam (EBA group, same name as here) if you need help. Have fun!

The Axe Factor is the sole reason I bought a PC and I couldn't be happier still, I am a noob with PCs and mods and pretty much all it's troubleshooting aspects.

Anyway. I bought the Arma 2 Collection on the steam sale and installed DayZ.  I tried some Arma 2 tutorials and am ready to play but I don't know the first thing about joining a lobby in DayZ or if I am missing something to actually join said lobbies.  I'll mess around a bit but I think I will have to call upon the AxeArmy for help in a while.
