Hey Axeheads,
I am looking for a new gaming headset. I would like to replace my PS3 headset for voice chat against a full fledged USB gaming headset in preparation to the Oculus Rift.
A feature I would really like is Dolby Headphone. Meaning surround sound with two speakers. I saw that Madcatz will release the Cyborg F.R.E.Q.7 soon (http://www.madcatz.com/freq7/).
Of course it would be nice to use the headset on other devices, too. The FREQ7 for example can be plugged to a xbox or PS4 controller via 3,5mm plug.
Do you have any other ideas?

Permalink Reply by Zaknaberrnon on March 2, 2013 at 8:40am I recommend the Logitech G930. it has 7.1 dolby digital surround, 3 programmable buttons, volume ajust, mute mic buttons and a switch to turn the 7.1 on/off. The big plus is they're wireless, really confortable, and my experience with logitech has shown me that they have really good customer service. they're the ones i use and the're excellent.
also you can re-charge the battery while you use them, which is a great feature.
Permalink Reply by Equinoxe on March 2, 2013 at 9:35am I take the optical out of my PS3 to my Victor(JVC) SU-D1 Dolby Headphone adapter and have a Beyerdynamic DT 990 pro attached to that (with a headphone amp, due to the high impedance). I use a Samson Go Mic for voice, which is most definitely an overkill.
The plus side of this setup is that its very versatile and I got a great headphone for gaming and movies as well as for stereo hifi audio. The downside is the price, exceeding 300 Euro (not even including the headphone amp).
Permalink Reply by Uncle Dude on March 2, 2013 at 9:42am I second the Logitech G930. The emulated 7.1 is excellent, and makes pinpointing enemies very easy in games like DayZ and Far Cry 3. Battery life is quite good (unlike my G700 mouse) and the wireless aspect makes it easy to run to the kitchen for a beer/sammich, and also lets your friends on Skype/Mumble share in your bathroom triumphs...and defeats.
Permalink Reply by Josh Schrier on March 2, 2013 at 8:42pm I've been using Turtle Beach for my headsets, but I've never bought a Dolby Surround Sound set from them.
Anyway here's a link to the Dolby Turtle Beach headset. Turtle Beach PX5

Thanks for the reply.
Permalink Reply by Kal-V3 on April 23, 2013 at 12:30pm I recommend anything Logitech. All of my accessories (mouse, keyboard, speaker, headset) are all Logitech.
Permalink Reply by Junon on April 25, 2013 at 5:49pm Hey there,
I am very pleased with the Gamecom 780 headset, the quality really is incredible, especially considering the price, and the mic has one of the clearest sound around. It supports Dolby Pro Logic II and 7.1. The bass is not the strongest but even listening to music it is one of the headsets with the deepest sounds I have used and if you hop on the amazon reviews you will find most people amazed with the quality just as I am and, again, especially considering the price as it easily equals or even tops much more expensive headsets.

0%Hey fellow Axeheads! It's been a looooong time since I posted a blog, but now that summer is right around the corner, I wanted to take the time and talk about my most anticipated games between the months of June and September. Here are the top 3 games I'm interested in this summer:
3. GTA V (September 17)
To close out the summer, Rockstar is bringing us my number 3 most anticipated game, GTA V. You might ask, why is this game only at the number 3 spot on the list? Well…
When I was growing up, I remember playing alot of simulation games where you’d create either a hospital, a theme park, a zoo, you name it there was a `Tycoon` game for it. Now a new indie game has come out of the wood work and brought back such fun memories of said childhood. This is Game Dev Tycoon.
Game Dev Tycoon starts you out small, working from your garage with 70K, no fans and little knowledge of what is…
Break out the lightsaber, team EBC takes a swing at the Star Wars and EA announcement to discuss the light and dark sides of the news. Plus, Assassin’s Creed IV find the perfect jewel, What’s in and what’s not in the new Wolfenstein, Console-specific Rayman Legends…
Actually that's been the plan for a while now I just failed to mention it here before. I did type up a development document, track down freeware programs to make it and finished the concept art work. Then I spent the last four months doing nothing. I recently came to the conclusion that my idea, while interesting, was waaaay too ambitious a project for me to undertake right now. I hope to revisit the idea sometime in the future but for now it's very much in storage.
So why bring this…
