If you were unable to partake in all of the food, festivities and fun of gamescom 2010, you’re probably pretty bummed right about now…Well, SOCOM fans in particular have reason to hold their heads (and beer steins) high this morning as Sony has released a video showcasing the gamescom 2010 SOCOM 4 demo in its entirety with commentary by lead designer, Travis Steiner.
The vid, which you can watch above courtesy of the PlayStation Blog, helps celebrate the 8th anniversary of developer Zipper Interactive’s first-ever PS2 game in style by showcasing the demo of the latest entry in the franchise being played all the way through.
So, at least you can SEE the game in action even if you won’t actually PLAY it until sometime next year…
Check out the vid and let us know what you think!

I for one am really excited about this game and really look forward to a good gameplay experience with this one.
I haven’t played a SOCOM since the PS2 days so I don’t really know how the series has evolved but this really doesn’t remind me of the franchise I used to know. SOCOM was always more tactical to me, hiding out of sight, surveying enemy routes, enevading or silently neutralising mutliple patrol units simultaneously as to avoid detection, breach, flash and clear. This just looks like any other current gen third person shooter.
We’ll just have to wait and see then, right?
I am drooling over this video, this game is on the top spot of my radar next to Killzone 3, I love SOCOM, I have been with it for some time now and I just can’t wait to play SOCOM 4. I am playing a lot of SOCOM: Confrontation just to hold me off, but this looks like its going to be absolutely fantastic!
what kind of SOCOM is this? he got shot several times by the armor and didnt die. thats completly the opposite kind of mood i remember from the first 2 SOCOMs.
