That’s right. Killzone 3′s multiplayer offering will become free-to-play starting next Tuesday, February 28, as announced on the latest PlayStation Blogcast. All you need is an internet connection and an account for PlayStation Network and you’re in!
While every map and mode will be available in the free trial, there will be a level cap, which hasn’t determined at this point. However, if you feel inclined to keep ranking up past the cap you can purchase the entire multiplayer suite for $14.99. Neat, eh? I know I’m in…again!

More games need to do this on consoles
Very interesting, the multiplayer of Kz3 was very good, and I will re-download to play again. I had KZ3 and sold it a while ago, but was thinking the other day that it would be good to replay. I got to a pretty high level so I wonder if it will restart my profile, or just not let me go any further. In any case I find this very interesting for console gaming. I wonder if this is a step towards making games with two separate experiences. Selling single player and multiplayer separate would be interesting. I think Sony is testing the waters here in regards to splitting up the console gaming experience.
I bought this game months ago and still haven’t played it. Oh well I multiplayer isn’t a huge hook for me but FTP has been successful in a lot of cases so it could do well.
I will totally be getting this.. Medic here I come!
This is an awesome idea! i remember playing the beta, which was a lot of fun. i was going to get the game but when i heard how bad the story was in the single player, I became reluctant to spend my money. Now that they are separating the online from the campaign, I can support the good part of Killzone 3 for $15 oppose to $40 for the full game.
