While poking around the coding in the Left 4 Dead 2 demo, a few gamers reportedly found a text file indicating the possibility that the zombie shooter would contain avatar awards. Well, Valve has now confirmed that the game will indeed feature some fancy Xbox 360 avatar awards for fans to enjoy.
Though they never specified what the awards would be, Fade Guy from the Steam forums discovered the following possible awards:
- Med Kit – “earned by beating all five campaigns”
- Bull Shifters Shirt – “earned by winning 10 games of Versus”
- Left 4 Dead 2 Shirt – “earned by winning 10 games of Scavenge”
- Zombie Hand shirt – “earned by killing 10,000 Infected”
- Depeche Mode Shirt – “earned by rescuing Gnome Chompski from the Dark Carnival”
Pretty nice edition from the guys over at Valve and even if these aren’t the exact awards, it’s good that they are including this type of content for fans. I for one am hoping that more games include these awards as I think they are a cool addition to compliment the achievements you earn. Agree? Disagree? Discuss!

I think this is a great opportunity to make a game more valid to the gamer and it’s about time that a game includes this kind of content.
We were told that future games include rewards in the form of avatar merchandise or accessoires or slt.
I think the only game that has something achievable apart from the actual achievements is ‘’splidong man’ which features a theme or gamerpic or slt.
Hopefully future games will feature this kind of content, for example ‘Splinter Cell Conviction’ because there already is a costume(…but no one would pay for this kind of crap.. oh wait: there actually are ppl – i never get it!)
My point is why paying 400MSP for (example) a virtual costume for your little midget (no offense!!) when you can achieve ‘em in a game. thats would be more fun and more satisfying then just a number under your gamertag.
i’m out,

I strongly agree with this for many reason. Firstly, it gives the L4D2 player to achieve a goal, and when that goL is reached, they get an award. It gives the player something to work for. I am hoping Valve continues making these great ideas on Avatar Awards so that the player gets more out of the great game they created. Valve, once again excellent idea.
