Out of the black depths of space and/or a retailer training quiz (depending on your version of reality) details pertaining to the yet-to-be-released Mass Effect 2’s DLC have emerged. Tipsters to Dtoid cited the Microsoft Expert Zone retailer quiz as the source of information designed to educate employees which revealed that BioWare’s upcoming RPG (slated for January 2010) will support downloadable content in a big, big way…unlike the first entry in the series as fans will sadly tell you.
Here’s what the tipster listed for the Xbox Live Features section of the quiz:
- planned episodic combat via DLC
- weapon and armor packs
- new downloadable characters for the campaign experience
- new downloadable worlds
- full campaign expansions for download
Apparently, the game will also feature periodic updates via a “Cerberus Network” that will deliver the above mentioned DLC and more.
Of course, none of this is official, but considering BioWare’s boosted DLC support for its other RPG, Dragon Age: Origins (out today…WOOT!), it comes as no surprise that the more established Mass Effect franchise will feature large doses of downloadable content. We’ll bring you more details as they emerge…assuming we can uncross our fingers long enough to type.
