MCV is laying claim to delivering the first details regarding the launch of Microsoft’s Project Natal. Citing a behind-closed-doors Microsoft tour of UK publishers, the report states that the controller-free Natal will release worldwide in November 2010, be accompanied by 14 games, and retail for below £50 when sold alone, making it FAR CHEAPER than most would have suspected (and by “most”, I mean “us”.)
The most interesting quote in the piece is that Microsoft is “trying to get as close as possible to ‘impulse buy’” territory and of course the low price tag would accommodate that.
Of course, none of these details are confirmed, but you can expect Msoft to respond in some way as we draw near to the eventual launch of Natal on the Xbox 360. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more. Until then, start dancing around your living room and flailing your arms to practice up…

Do people even care? Wee see hoe the wii has done, ought mine, played half of Zelda, bought Zelda on Gamecube played it, loved it. This whole motion BS is getting stupid. I want my god damn controller with 2 analogs and my Mouse and Keyboard. not some stupid interface where i look like a alcoholic in a bar trying to stand with a bottle in my hand for a interface source. Stupid.
hmm, there seems to be a design flaw here, what is the xbox best known for? a brilliant fps controller, right? then how are they planning to make a shooter without peripherals? or if you have to “scan” a gun you got at home where’s the diversity, yay i got my clock 9mm in game pew pew” 2 hours later : “err might need an assault gun…maybe?” then peter molyneux will jump out of your natal console and yell “NO! YOU NEED TO PLAY FABLE 3 MUFFAKKA, YOU ONLY NEED A SWORD OR STICK OR SOMETHING AND DO A NON MOVING RUNNING TO PLAY THE GAME, ITS TEH AWESOME, AND THIS TIME I’LL MAKE SURE TO IMPLEMENT SOMETHING FANTASTIC THAT’LL BLOW YOUR MIND WIDE OPEN, AND THEN I’LL CUT IT RIGHT BEFORE RELEASE HAH!” or you could always argue that no way in hell will the sensor watching you be able to pick up every time you squeeze the trigger from every possible angle, i mean how do you look around? i guess you point a gun or gun like thing at the screen. then how does the sensor pick up you shooting when aiming down to the right? (down left for leftys) gee mister hard truth, thx, we here at microsoft didnt even think about that one (bonk on the head) “well as long as you learned your lesson, dont advertise a no-controllerperipheral console, when you obviously cant do it, hally hooooo” (flies away)
One single thing: If you say something sucks or that it will suck, and you are based only on you’re guesses or on some rumours you actually do nothing… and you give me (maybe to other people as well)reasons to belive that you say things that you can’t sustain with true facts/arguments. It’s like seeing some “ugly” and smelly food and you say: it’s definitely awful, but when you taste it you say: Wow ! It’s great… Now i don’t know if this is the case with Natal, it may really be awful – I really don’t get it how the hell will you move ingame…
And another thing… Microsoft is a great company, one of the biggest, and they surely are making lots of money so they defenetly have something in mind for natal… don’t you think that they asked themselves the same questions ? How will you do that and that in the game ? I think they did… if they found a good or bad solution i don’t know
Anyway this is a step Forward, i think… it is evolutions (a new pice of technology)
The last think… Those who say that motion controllers or “no-controller” suck and that you can’t play something without a controller can’t accept changes and evolution… It’s like the old people who don’t use technology, or the amish
?… it may be fun for you or it may not but accept it ! Don’t hate it, don’t deny it !
My post is not a Pro Natal one (even if i am one of thoes who think it could be something really good and i really want to see what will it be…), it is a post against claming something with no true argument, fact, proof… I hope everyone understood my point
I don’t really believe in the argument that you have to try something before you can start passing judgments. I think, with enough evidence, from videos or w/e, a reasonable assumptions and opinions can be formed. Like the food example, if I see a piece of pie with dog poo sprinkled on top and horse manure stuck in the middle, I don’t think I need to taste it to not like it.
And in the case with natal, gamers actually have tried motion sensor with the most successful motion sensor console to date, the Wii, and honestly, it sucks, especially for more hardcore games. I’m sure Microsoft has asked themselves about the practicality of Natal, but I’m sure they also see the success of the Wii and want to replicate that success. In fairness, the success of the Wii is probably a lot more enticing to Microsoft (and Sony) than actual software practicality. With any business company, it’s not so much about how can we make good software with this hardware, it’s more about how can we make more money period. Natal is an easy concept to cash in on the motion control mainstream craze, despite the drought of any valuable good software concept.
Yes, ok i agree, but still… that dog poo pie could surprise you and have a good taste, no ? You never tried dog poo before, maybe it has some ingredient that makes it good.
I had a Nintendo Wii, used it around a week and then sold it (after couple of months but I never played on it that time). So for me it was a failure even if, for me, it looked incredible from the trailers and all the media… this could happen the other way around too, i think. Yes I am sure that Microsoft is doing this because of Nintendo’s succes,Sony as well, but i hope they learned from Nintendo’s mistakes… Nintendo promised something and they offered something else, something not as good as promised (even if now, with the motion+, they are giving us what they promised in the first place) I, for exemple, won’t buy another nintendo product very soon just because now i belive that they won’t give me what i am expecting and i am sure others will do the same thing… Microsoft has a name to protect, I think they can’t allow themselves to disapoint, probably they will
