Just as Sony’s press conference was wrapping up this morning, Jack Tretton stated that one more game was going to be debuted. The lights go out, an epic trailer showing a crazed clown comes on, and Sweet Tooth himself drives onto stage (literally) and causes the theater to go into a frenzy. David Jaffe then walks out and announces a new Twisted Metal is coming for the PlayStation 3. At this point, the world must’ve stopped…
Anyway, Jaffe and his pal from Eat Sleep Play played a kick ass online team deathmatch on Main Street, and showcased all the crazy Twisted Metal carnage in high definition.
Jaffe stated the game will have split-screen and and online split-screen multiplayer modes. He then went on to mention other gameplay details, like each vehicle having two special attacks, weapons made specifically for co-operative play, and a new mode called ‘Nuke’.
Nuke is a multiplayer game mode in which two rival factions face off and the goal is to take out the other factions colossal statue before they destroy yours. How do you do this you ask? Teams scramble the field in attempts to find and capture the opposing teams leader, feed him to an artillery launcher, and aim the missile at the statue. That just sounds like all types of awesome, and it sure looked it as well.
The new Twisted Metal is being developed by some of the guys from the original team, so you can expect the same dark humor and gameplay in the newest installment. Be sure to be on the lookout for Twisted Metal, and let your voice be heard below!

I loved me Twisted Metal on the original PS, and even the second chapter I had a ton of fun with. When I heard the ice cream truck song playing I got a big ‘ol smile on face and was stoked when Sweet Tooth made his appearance.
Overall the game is looking pretty sweet from the brief stuff they showed. I really dig there version of capture the flag, capture the Gang Leader. And it’s its looking kind of sharp for a game that’s still got about years worth of production left to go.
