Microsoft just ended their E3 2010 Press Conference with a huge bang. The rumored Xbox 360 Slim has now been confirmed (although not the official name), and better yet, it is shipping today. That’s right, you can expect to pick this super sleek and ultra powerful bad boy up by the end of the week.
The system, which is of course ready to rock with Microsoft’s new Kinect, also boasts a hefty 250GB HDD and built-in 802.11N wireless support. Quite the console, huh?
The price of admission for the new Xbox 360 is $299.99, the same price as the current console.
So, is this enough for you to pick up an Xbox 360 for the first time? Will you be like me and trade in your current system for it? Tell us your opinion below!!

I will get one asap!
But is it the end of the week in the US or all over the World?
It’s kind of sad but I was watching the live feed of the Xbox show, and the only thing that had me remotely interested was this smaller xbox.
Main reason is my current xbox is nearing its 10th year of operation and I fear any day now it could go belly up. Though I’m not really looking forward to dropping another 300 bills.
Also, I’m glad they finally managed to get it wifi ready w/o $100 extra piece. I mean shit, even the Wii has wifi..bout time.
I’ve got to say, they HAD to do something after all that hymn to mediocrity, all the show was terrible….
Honestly, why would i buy a Xbox360, even with a new design, bigger HDD and a new wireless connection?
I think not.
Natal (Kinect is a retard name) has no games, even casual gamers will find hard to be attracted by them, if they have a wii already (who doesnt).
You should buy a new console for the games that it offers, and i didnt see anything remotely good, aside the obvious games that everyone knew they would be there (GoW3, MGS, Halo)
Wow, well I was definitly pleasantly suprised to see this news. I almost feel like a right idiot to having just bought the latest Super Elite sku.
But hearing it’s the same price as the current elite and is now quiter, more beautiful and especially smaller. I’m definitly going to trade mine in for this new small but powerful beast.
I have to say it was a really good move not to make it more than the current model, but to lower the price of the current gen consoles.
to be honest I think this was the only thing I liked about this afternoons conference.. Everything they showed about Natal or whatever the bad new name is xD lol.. was pretty much JUNK in my opinion..I was really hoping Microsoft would be better than to just copy Wii EXACTLY & come out with a fit type title and a wii sports rip off :.. come on guys.. I was really hoping they would show their MAIN audience what it wanted to see which are REAL implementations into good games but sadly everything just seemed like a gimick
… I know its really early still in E3 & just the life of Natal but.. come on Microsoft they Didn’t address their Core audience AT ALL!!..
It’s kind of like they forgot about the hardcore gamers completely : which is funny.. because that is what drives their console..
Edit: Sorry! xD forgot about MGS which IM STOOOKED about! but was so saddened by Microsoft I almost forgot about that great news ahaha…ha..
IM SELLING MY OLD ONE AND GETTING THIS ONE FOR SURE!!!!!!
That does actually look pretty cool
No real surprises of course, most of it we kinda knew it was coming, but the ‘shipping today’ thing was nice.
Overall a better show than last year? I mean, the Neckit (sorry, Kinect) stuff they showed looks kinda casually, but there were some sparks which if landed at the right place could be good for the core as well
Man! i couldnt belive my ears when he said that they where giving the new xbox to everybody in the audience! Is this the Microsoft that we all love to hate?
and Kinect or Natal, what’s the difference, they’re both silly names, that people just has to get used to… and the launch titles. It must be somewhat imbarresing just to develop rehashes of Wii games… Kinect Sports? come on!
Eh, still not getting a console. Maybe when PS3/360 hit the 200$ mark. Not to mention I have to get an HDTV for that as well – quite pricey, money that would be better spent on my PC and a new mp3 player
This article really should mention the price drop they announced on the other models.
Arcade and Elite are dropping $50 off the price tag as soon as the new model’s out.
New Slim Xbox 360 console will be available in Europe on July 16th.
Gaah, wanted one now…
Really wish they would have announced the Natal’s/Kon…wii’s? price tag. Hope it isn’t too pricey because as of right now I am not impressed enough to pick one up this November. I would rather just buy a Wii if I want to run on the spot in my living room & pretend to play bowling xD…
I just about shit my pants when they said ” Its shipping today”. I was hoping for a few more game surprises from xbox, but it ended up just as I feared; Kinect, kinect, kinect. Some of my doubts about it were removed ( at least the body tracking seems to work good), but I think I’ll stick to the controller for now.
I think as long as they do what Nintendo did, and make casual games for Kinect that are easy to pick-up, they’ll do fine with it. Just please stay away from making a serious game for it. PLEASE!
Also, you can trade in your old system for one of the new ones?
Well, it looks like Ill be buying my first xbox soon then
Let me get this straight…
everyone on the show floor got a new XBOX360 “slim”?!
What a nice way to bribe the media =)
Wonder if the three axe lords (Daniel, Tony & Brent) got one each as well…
Wow the ps3 is gonna shit all over the 360 after that awful show it’s like they couldn’t wait to get the hardcore stuff out the way don’t get me wrong gears 3 halo reach and rising all look sick but that’s it?!?!??!??!??!?!?!?!?!!?!?! They just demoed that wack ass casual shit the whole show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First, wanting to buy journalists by giving them free new Xboxes is very pathetic. Microsoft didn’t gain sympathy with this move on this side.
I don’t think I wil buy the new one. I still have my Elite and the only games I still want to play on it are Mass Effect 3 and Alan Wake. So I hope my box will live until I have played them.
Like we saw today there was nothing really new that could keep my interest for this new toy.
I really hope for the Mass Effect Trilogy Box on the PS3, even if it is very very unlikely.
If this came a year or something ago… I’d have gotten it… I’m ” a PS3 man” but have wanting a to pick up a 360 for some while now, was waiting for that one deal to change my mind… Now I have the feeling that this console has about 2 year to go… And 300$ is too much for a console with that lifespan… :S
their press conference was terrible worse than nintendo 2008, yeah that bad. they had no games all they did was talk about natal and instead of it showing a new unique experience they just showed wii sports, wii fit and mario kart. Whats the point If its not doing something new? I already have a wii.
The 360 slim is pretty I’ll give it that but I already have a 360. A noisy sometimes Red ringing old clunker but should the magical moment come that I have $300+ to burn (which will be never) I’ll contemplate getting this shiny new one.
Pretty sad how it took them 6 years to include wi-fi. Why do people support Microsoft again?
Not gonna get it for a while, I bought an Elite back when the price drop and I see no reason to get a slim so soon.
Well I’m not a 360 user but I must admit it looks sexy…
i’ll buy it if it doesnt have the 3 rings of death problem as the past consoles.
This one better not overheat…
@AnthonyS: Xbox 360 isn’t even ten years old! Even the original Xbox isn’t that old.
I’m mainly looking forward to this as I’ll be moving to Canada and will be looking to buy a NTSC model. At first I was just going to buy an arcade and spend the 100 quid on a larger HDD and wifi, but now I may just buy this, assuming it’s as quiet as they say.
Alright I was a little zealous with my xbricks age, it is however going on it’s sixth year of use, and that’s the better half of ten.
My main point is with the amazing failure rate they have, every day I use it now I fear could be it’s last. I have to admit though I must be one of the lucky ones, 5+ years of use and It hasn’t RROD on me for anything more than a loose video cable….knock on wood.
It was about time they made a Xbox 360 slim with Wi-Fi!!!
Not that I am going to buy one but it was about time…
