Just and FYI for those of you chomping at the bit to check out Skirmish 062 of EpicBattleCry. As noted in EBC 061, we had to take the week off and as a result, EpicBattleCry Skirmish 062 will not be delivered unto thee until NEXT Monday, February 8.
I know, I know, it sucks, but Brent and Tony got caught in a sticky situation regarding a rented Bugatti Veyron Mouse, a flight attendant from Amsterdam, a few circus midgets from Vegas, and about 200 gallons worth of Brawndo – The Thirst Mutilator…I can’t get into detail, but let’s just say that I’m very happy everyone is alright and that they accept 16-bit era games as trade-in credit at the customs holding cell.
We’ll be back next week…more bad-ass and insightfully (not a word) than ever before. Until then, perhaps you can leave some ideas as to what you’d like to hear us chat about on the next EBC. Timely, relevant, and thought-provoking suggestions ONLY please! This isn’t like those OTHER gaming podcast…
(Damn…cheap shot).
Peace,
DK

this makes me sad in my pants
sent you guys a link to a gaming violence propaganda movie called “moral Combat” to scare parents about video games in the submit a story section.
to be honest though i didnt finish watching it because i got too aggravated at how one sided it was at the beginning.
Advertsing and demographics -
dunno about the US or JP, but here in Europe (specifically Britain) we see loads of ads for Wii and 360, just seen one for ME2 and it was all i expect from a game ad, similarly the Forza3 ads were pretty sweet. Nintendo have their audience and have tapped mainstream celebrities to bring it home to the masses.
i never see any PC game ads !!!EVER!!! unless it’s bolted on to the 360 ads, and as for PS3 ads, well that’s kinda where i’m going with this.
i’d swear i heard last year that Sony were spending 7 million somethings (£?$) on advertising in ’09 and what little i saw of it was shite.
Playstation was pretty much up shit creek for cash leading in to ’09 (kinda) and despite ’09 being a turn around year for the PS3s fortunes, apparently, i still ain’t seen shit for ‘em despite a strong Q1 release schedual. Anybody know what their problem is? i figure it’s either money or they don’t know who the hell they’re supposed to be marketing to. i can’t believe they’re still so far up their own asses that they think they don’t have to, but i’m running out of ideas. anybody?
Ahh that sucks. I’ve been waiting for 062 to drop any minute now, or hour rather. Well, glad everyone is ok.
I’d like to hear some OnLive discussions. It’s dropping soon and I was curious about your thoughts on the whole thing. Perhaps anyone tried it? Do you think it will replace consoles next generation?
Hey guys,
Sad to hear there wont be a podcast this week. I pray the next one is a nice long one to get me through my week of university papers.
One thing I’ve absolutely been dying to hear (and forgive me if i’ve missed it in one of your first episodes) is what your “personal” favorite game of all time is.
I mean i dig the gauntlet and all that, don’t change it. But perhaps giving us a small background as to what you feel were some crowing achievements in gaming. It would make for some really interesting discussion and would also give those younger gamers a chance to check out some older gems that they may not be aware of.
psst. Its a good way to plug GOG.com as well.
Anyway gentlemen, love the show, keep up the fantastic work, and please don’t ever sell out. Your show is a breath of fresh air to all us gamers out there who want an honest, no nonsense, couldn’t care less who we offend opinion on what we all love…. games.
Take Care

Hey guys I have an idea for the next skirmish, “Tell us what happened!” lol.
Hope everything is fine with you guys. See you next week!
Cheers!
The sky tore its heart asunder, raining cold woeful tears upon the world…
The sea roared, moaned in grief, drowning the lands of the world…
The land cracked and barfed red, gooey stuff, burning all that was the world…
…
…
Poetry. Seriously? I blame this week’s lack of Skirmish. YES! It’s all YOUR FAULT!
You guys should think about adding a “live chat” segment if you need some time to fill per episode.
Or even possibly a month-ending “Battlecry full” episode where you get to bring up the best Battlecries of the month.
If anything it gives you guys 1 free episode a month.
“they except 16-bit era games as trade-in credit” – DK
Ouch! That is killing my head. It’s “accept” DK, not “except”. Only mentioning it so that Tony and Brent have yet another thing to rag on you for. lol
No worries. I still think you rock (I’d take your job over my own any day of the week). Looking forward to EBC 062!
curious when you guys are going to bring up Brink in conversation the game so far looks pretty good and interesting multiplayer elements
LOL! Thx for pointing that out…I get ahead of myself sometimes…brain…fingers…can’t catch up!!! Fixed.
Cheers,
DK
I totally forgot you guys were taking a week off to chill out and play some Madden 10.
A few topics I’d like to hear more about are your thoughts, expectations and wish lists for Enslaved and Max Payne 3.
Look forward to the skirmish. Till then, keep it real my Commissars of Carnage.
@boysangur They’ve actually talked about Onlive. Use the search bar to find all the articles or listen to the boys talk on EBC:Skirmish 23-Magic Pills.
A possible topic could be the puzzling Marketing strategies of late. Dante’s Inferno will be pimped during the Superbowl, so it begs the question is this a wise move or is it because EA has deep enough pockets to afford the spot? If Gaming is now mainstream why are we only seeing ads on television at late night hours, sporting events, sci fi show, or during anything that could be deemed as nerdy/dorky? With the media blitz that was ME2 why are we hardly seeing anything from other upcoming AAA titles? I’ve only seen 2 ads for Bioshock 2 compared to seeing the ME2 toilet ad over a hundred in the same timeframe. Sony fumbling the marketing of Heavy Rain, is it dooming the game by not being marketed properly? Marketing games with so much PR BS that the games don’t reflect the marketing, from the RTS of Brutal Legend to not much “Vertical Combat” in Dark Void.
