In other words: Metal Gear GZ is too short.

"Please Buy our demo" would be shorter

How often do you play a demo that even lasts 2 hours without side content and features completely unique, distinct locations/content from the main game?

The demos for MGS 1 and 2 were so awesome. I played them over and over and enjoyed them probably a lot more than a lot of full games. Metal Gear GZ sounds like a beefed up version of those demos which focused on a limited amount of space, but gave you the feeling of freedom when completing the mission.

I think it's worth the money, whether it's a glorified demo or not, even those old demos were worth paying money for. I'm sure it will be much bigger and have much more freedom than the past games, I am looking forward to it.

The most important part isn't how they are breaking it up into two parts, but whether the game is fun enough to make you forget about the price entirely.

But it -is- a glorified demo, and it -is- a glorified demo of a game without a release date. So in a way, you are paying to get early access to a game that hasn't even settled into the shape it will have when it goes to store shelves. Not wise. I will hold on to my money.

Good luck playing 80% of the story of MGSV then. Ground Zeroes feedback is going to shape changes made for phantom pain anyway so it's a way to give us some gameplay/story instead of leaving us watching trailers and speculating for 3-4 years and have a nice, self contained area with a short story.

I refuse to believe that the length of a game is what makes it valid as a game rather than demo, in that case I should flatly refuse anything that isn't a 6 hour RPG because portal only last a handful of hours, obviously a glorified demo for portal 2, early access to a game that hadn't even settled into the shape it would have when it came to shelves.

Also oh wait ground zeroes is being sold on store shelves as well, platofmr exclsuive missions and everything. So for a non-linear game release that gives us a new, non-linear MGS game to play between 2011-whatever year Phantom pain comes out is fine me.

Rowan say : "How often do you play a demo that even lasts 2 hours"

to paraphrase your argument

I refuse to believe that the length of a demo is what makes it valid as a game rather than demo

I understand What u saying but it is a demo it is a long demo but its 1 mision that may even  be in full game. If it sells good is may be very dangerous trend so i wont buy this, and if they want our feedback here's mine: dont sell demos for 30$:either make it free for preordering phantom pain or ad it to castlevania  LoS 2. To be clear i love mgs but i will never pay for playing beta or demos, becouse if that quasi Pre-DLC sell there will be more and in future they may   cut content from start of the game like they  cutting games now to make dlc, dont let that happen.

PS All that feedback stuff is such a marketing ploy .Sorry for my bad english

Then to extend that phrase ot what was implied, how often do you play a demo with 2 hours of story content entirely distinct from the main game.

Ground zeroes isn't going to be included on disk with phantom pain, it's a main story, 5 side missions and 2 platform exclusive missions. This is not a beta, a demo or a slice of phantom pain because this is not going to be the first 2 hours of phantom pain, it's a seprated piece that precedes it and will inform it.

People throw around the whole cut content/DLC garbage now at the slightest sign of anything short of convergence these days without fully understanding the product they're opposing.

If this were 30 minutes and actually content that would be included in phantom pain it would be free, and it would procede the game by a month or two at most. This isn't like playing the dissidia 012 duodeccim demo where you get a few minutes of dialogue and some arena battles that reuse ingame assets, it's a seperate piece of AAA-nonlinear content that presents you a simple sandbox to play with the mechanics.

Look at what else you can get in the same price range and consider if you'd really rather play earth defense force: insect armegeddon.

First of all we dont know if it will be add on to phantom pain in some form, i mean you might be right, it may not be there, but without the game out we just dont know. Maybe We shuld'nt call it a demo but it is the closest thing to this namless bastard between game and demo like gran turismo prologue or dead rising case zero ( in my opinion the best way to do this kind of things is case zero) Sony tried call GT Prologue full game but it was not.
Second if u don think it is rehashed content of mgs5 , well that is your right, but i disagre i think that at one point or other that was part of mgs5 and was cut out(mayby for legit reasons like  gameflow, story or change of game concept).

Ps.Brevly default had demo that is longer that 2h has exclusive content and it is free. Lest me ask u a question: how often do you play a full game realese witch is 2 hours of pologue content to a another game.

Comment by Rowan - AzureCantabile on February 8, 2014 at 9:24am

We've actually known that ground zeroes wil be seperate for the last year or so. It's been a seperate title ever since it was first announced. And guess what cut content is? Cut, not out, not released. It's not like DLC and downloadable games just happen without extra work down to implement them.

Bravely default's demo was the actual location from the main game with content removed rather than added so it'd unique content was exclusively side missions, and being a demo was actually released the same year as bravely default.
