Finally one of the most anticipated events this year in PC gaming  has begun! I'm talking about the Steam Summer Sale of course. People spend money randomly to fill up their Backlog of games. But I might have a solution to prevent you from doing that and also getting some great deals out of the Sale without paying too much for the game you want to purchase anyway. In addition to that i will provide you with some charts to make you decision process easier and present you a list of game you might consider getting this Sale!

The Basics:

Let's start with the Basics! There are three different kinds of Sales:

  • Permanent Deals
  • last through the whole Summer Sale
  • aren't discounted that high (mostly)

  • Daily Deals
  • lasts 24-48 hours
  • have great discounts

  • Flash Sales/Community's Choice
  • lasts 8 hours
  • have the best discounts

The most important information you should get out of this is that the Permanent Sales shouldn't rush you and you could wait for a better deal to come. You should definitely consider the Daily Deals, if they include a game you always wanted. Flash Sales are the best of the best when it comes to discounts, game won't get cheaper than this!

Before you start to buy anything you should first fill up your Wishlist. Include title you always wanted to play. The Wishlist is an easy way to keep track of every game you really want. It shows you how much it is discounted at the moment and reminds you per email if some of your games gets a discount. You can also priorities games from important to mildly interested.

The Decision:

I've created two charts that display an option how you could decide if you should buy a game. The first is for the normal Steam User who is mostly interested in playing games and getting great discounts, the second one is for the ones that want a high Steam level and all the silly badges they can get.

The Normal Way

This chart could be really good to get the best deal for the games you want and also not to rush a decision!

Side Note: By "time limited Sale" i mean a sale that is very likely a Flash Sale and is only lasting for a day or a couple of hours.

For Achievement Hunters

Everyone who is hooked by the Trading Card System will help this chart a lot. If you want to craft as many Badges as you can without paying too much for it and also get some sweet games in the process, you should consider this route.

In Conclusion

In the End it come to these crucial points:

  • only buy games you will play in the near future (half a year)
  • don't rush purchases
  • don't just buy games to fill up your library
  • wait for the best deal you can get

I hope i could help anyone with this little guide! As always i agree to disagree, so tell me if i missed something that is also very helpful!

To add to this,

If you have a lot of games that include steam trading cards but you dont care about crafting, earn the cards, sell the cards and buy games with that earned money.

So far ive bought 4 games and 9 BL2 skins just from trading cards that dropped during the sale. In other words, free games!

Show a buddy Steam Summer Sale for the first time... He was completely surprised. Logged me out, set up his own account and bought a lot of games. He doesn't have a PC but apparently he now wants me to help him build one.

Do YOU think console makers should keep it simple?
Yes, I need a controller, graphic horsepower, and an 'on' button...that's it 0%
Its not realistic to think mainstream consumers will buy a device that only does one thing0%
I actually like all the entertainment options and hope they can be balanced with gaming0%
Keeping it simple is fine, but if everyone does that then no one stands out; console makers half to also stand apart0%

So let me get this straight.. (Last of Us Remastered Rant)

A game comes out with a game of the year edition (same base game, all dlc) for $60 a year later, everyone eats it up. Last of Us Remastered comes out on a DIFFERENT console, better graphics, extra features and all the DLC for cheaper than the original base game was and every one calls bull$hit and practically wants it for free? GOTY editions require almost no additional development. Just put all of the existing content in to one package and that's it. Last of Us:Remastered was actually…

Living with Tinnitus, the (not so) silent killer

This is a hard article to write. Not necessarily to express what I want to say, but because no matter how one writes an article of this nature it's nigh-on impossible to avoid sounding like a crusade, or a victim-piece or some form of self-indulgence. I can only implore you to read on in trust that I'm writing this article with no other intent than to help ensure that you never develop this condition. It has the power to terrify and debilitate you and it may be more likely to occur than you…

PSN Plus Instant Game Collection (May to July 2014)

Back again to give my impressions of games that I have played (and many I failed to complete) thanks to the PSN plus instant library.

Stealth Inc.: A Clone in The Dark

The first on a long list of games that I failed to complete. I enjoyed the puzzles, it was well polished for an indie title and it is a perfect fit for mobile gaming. I played it in bite size amounts and ended up logging three or four hours into it. If I had more of an opportunity to…
