Axehead Assembly #28: The secret life of Lorin

Prepare to strip naked in front of your Xbox spycam because the Axehead Assembly is hacking your network with a serious case of the horn!

On this week's 'All About the Axe' we spread some love (steady!) with a little help from Hellion's discussion What is EBA to you?. We discuss our favorite things about the site, it's podcasts and members. Feel the love, baby!

In the 'Vanguard' we supply part one of our "Top 10 RPG's of last gen" discussion (with part two heading your way next week). The five games or franchises featured this time round are Borderlands, Demon Souls & Dark Souls, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dragon Age and The Elder Scrolls.

Add into that some Saints Row IV, Enslaved: Odyssey to the west plus The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and you have a cheese stealing, repeatedly fapping, dick punching podcast on your hands!

All that and a lot more can be enjoyed right here:

Axehead Assembly #28: The secret life of Lorin

Small warning: This episode leans a bit too heavy on the swear box at times. If you have delicate ears, this particular Assembly might be best avoided!

You guys are doing an awesome job filling up the void! :D

Haha, Minsc was my favorite character from the Baldur's Gate series! I remember playing the hell out of those games. The full install size for Shadows of Ahm was larger than my PC's entire drive size at the time. That thing was HUGE!

Like T-Chu, Oblivion was my introduction to TES. Strangely, it was the only game to ever give me motion sickness; though despite that, I spent countless hours in it. Never did finish the main storyline though.

Unfortunately I've since developed the same mentality towards huge RPGs as Human Metal, and haven't gotten into Skyrim despite buying it on PC when it was first released.

I'm with you, Human Metal.  Dark Souls is a boring, tedium mess of a game.  It looks pretty and dark, but the game play is dull.  And it's not hard, it's more about pattern recognition.  It masks it's simple patterns with massive damage.

Comment by Lorin Baumgarten on January 26, 2014 at 3:13pm

Where did you get this picture of me?

Comment by Human Metal on January 26, 2014 at 9:04pm

Yeah, Christopher. I agree with everything you said. I wanna like the game because of its design and vistas, but the sluggish gameplay isn't really doing anything for me. :/

And Panda: I don't mind bigger RPGs sometimes (Ni no Kuni was pretty big and had quite a lot of sidequests), but if you can literally go anywhere and do anything, I just get lost in the cg-woods pretty fast. Glad to see I'm not the only one. Since at least Brak and you seem to have the same problem. XD

I liked the all about the axe topic this time and it brought up some happy memories from past show, that we now can listed to on the archive. One incident comes to mind; the time DK told the story about when was trown off the plane when comming home from E3 or comic-con or whatever it was. LOL, he was so mad:)

Congratulations to the new spot. A nice podcast, which I will definitely follow in the future :)

@Human Metal: I have the same sentiment for open world games. I remember that I lost interest in Fallout 3 pretty much as soon, as I left the confinement of the initial Vault. That's what I like with JRPGs: the illusion of a lareg world, through which one is guided while the story progresses.

Axefactor 180. We Get What We Deserve

I would love to change my username to DaySixEdition games.

Greetings fellow Axeheads.  I am once again compelled to write my thoughts in the same theme I wrote every other time in relation to the AxeFactor #180.  Our glorious Axelords Brent and Lorin again ponder as to why it is that our industry treats us like crap.  There is even a pole again for us to express what we feel about the situation.

The pole is missing the ''The industry treats us as we deserve.''   Which is what…

What We’re Watching:…

AC: Unity - The good, the bad and the ugly

The good:

- Graphics. It looks stunning and the amount of NPC's roaming through the city give the game a nice ambiance and make the city come to life like no other game has ever done before.

- Interiors. Much more inside buildings now. Fast short cuts through a house or complete missions taking place in a palace. Not every house is accessible but there is plenty of them to make it divers.

- Riddles. Less hand holding this game. Riddles and murder cases to tease the…

Hatred is not about violence & here's why

PSA: Nothing I am saying is meant to be inflammatory or antagonizing. I am simply informing you the reader on my personal take of the Hatred controversy now that it has been several weeks and we can really take a step back to examine what the issue is.

The Hatred controversy is not about Violence in video games... Hatred is not about Grand Theft Auto, Hatred is not about Halo, heck Hatred is not about Boondock Saints or even Sons of Anarchy. Hatred is about Columbine, there I…
