Brent and Tony Spend an Evening with the OUYA

So my OUYA is finally here. I thought it might be cool to do an unboxing vid for those that enjoy that sort of thing so I invited Tony over Saturday to give me a hand. We ended up filming the whole evening so this vid is extremely long but we thought it might be interesting to present our first experience (in nearly real time) with a brand new game console. Not something you can do every week of the year.

Oh damn, that is a long video. Looking forward to checking it out after my shift!

Osh, that was a long vid, watched parts of it, unboxing, installing and gaming.
Interesting indeed. Just got my first "big" smartphone (Experia Z) and I'm not a big fan of touch gaming, it's fine on the train, but once I'm home I wanna play with controllers..
In Experia's case, it's possible to connect a PS3 controller for the PSN games.
But I wanna play some "classic RPG's", so I might get an Oyua later this year.. If any "FF7 to 9"-ish RPG's comes, I will get one, ASAP....

you guys should do a similar video when Lorin gets his Oculus

Comment by Fredrik Pedersen on May 29, 2013 at 6:12am

@Arturo That would be highly enjoyable

Comment by Viking Brent on May 29, 2013 at 6:17am

@Arturo: Lorin might have to film that on his own since he'll be in Brazil by then and I won't be. ;)

Comment by Uncle Dude on May 29, 2013 at 6:54am

What, you and Lorin don't live together? I am disappoint.

Enjoyed the video!

Comment by Arturo Espinoza on May 29, 2013 at 7:18am

Achievement Unlocked! I watched the whole video.

The controller indeed looked dissapointing, specially when the button got stucked.

If we can use other controllers, and if at one point is possible to install emulators to play old games from other consoles I would definitely get one.

Identifying with games and game characters

This is actually just a copy-paste of my most recent comment on this weeks Axe Factor. I've long intended this as a blog post, which is why it appears here as well.

I haven't heard the podcast yet, but I felt like writing a response to the question to this weeks poll, "Have you ever had a "That's Me!" experience with a video game character?"

The answer is yes. One of the most powerful gaming experiences for me the last couple of years have been To The…
