The Wii-U just isn't convincing me I need one, or want one. The tablet controller taking up half of it's price leads me to believe the system itself just will not be able to cope with next gen titles aswell as it's competition. Nintendo fans will undoubtedly get some nice Mario etc games coming their way, and finally in decent fidelity too. However when I next fork out for a console I want to know my investment will keep me going for some years, and I just don't think this console will hold up to next gen scrutiny for the games i would want to play on console.

All in all I see this as a current gen console, that is way too late to the party. I got burned hard in buying a Wii, and I will definitely not get another Nintendo console at launch. I am willing to wait and see what happens, but I don't think we will truly see where it stands until we hear from Microsoft and/or Sony about their next gen plans.

Until the next gen truly arrives, I'm happy for now with my Xbox.

I enjoyed the Wii for the first year, so I guess I can't say I regret buying it. That said, I will have to wait to see how the Wii U does in it's 1st and second year before bothering with it. The Nintendo consoles have never been very good at producing the types of games I like.

I know Sony has tied trophies to users' SEN (Sony Entertainment Network) account, which everyone who has a PSN account automatically has. Undoubtedly, trophies will carry over to PS4.

Still listening, but I think it's unlikely that Valve will make a console per se. This is especially the case since the Industrial Designer job listing mentioned ergonomics. I think that Valve is aiming to make a new controller. Consider that the Razer Hydra. It's not a brilliant solution, but the way that it works with Portal is really really interesting and creates a lot of opportunity for new game mechanics:

I really think that Valve is trying to make the evolution of the M&KB. Something that is similarly flexible and complex, but also compact and ergonomic enough to use on a couch in a comfortable way. In that sense it really fits that they are starting with big picture.

To add to my previous comment, I agree with Tony's point. It would be really hard from a production standpoint to make a Steam Box for the very reason that Tony said. Steam requires the PC backend. That means that a Steam Box will HAVE to have Windows, DirectX, and all the other licensed software to run the games in the Steam catalog. That would cost a lot of money before we even talk about hardware.

While I don't regret buying my Wii and have had some really good gaming experiences on it, I can't really see myself getting the Wii U at launch, at most I might get it after the first price drop and see what games have come out for it. There also haven't been any Nintendo exclusive games announced that I am interested in, I mean, New Mario, really? Although a new Metroid game like the Metroid Prime trilogy with current gen graphics would be a big draw.

just created a new account, hello Axeheads! tbh as a 360/PS3 owner i could not care less about Nintendo and the WiiU tbh but great Episode as always guys. totally agree with Brent & DK on FUSE. Overstrike looked pretty cool but now (thx to EA?) my interest is like zero. looks like Army of 4 meets Binary Domain...

Great episode just like the last AXEFACTOR, peace!

Today I 'ave been mostly rememberin': Great Gaming Gaffs

Hello fellow Axeheads! As the great AVGN would say; "What a shitload of fuck!" I am, of course, referring to the Xbox One. Everyone has been frothing at the mouth and having seizures over the calamitous reveal.

Dear Microsoft

Hi Microsoft its me, the little guy who's been buying your consoles for the last ten years. Just wanted to let you now how excited I was by your new console reveal. Sure I would have liked to see more games (maybe even one being played) but I get why you didn't go that route. The reveal was a focus on the system itself right and you wanted to keep it relevant to actual specs and functionality, like when you announced a Halo TV show. Things like that were why people tuned in and I'm sure its…
