On this costume-clad edition of EBC we talk about pop-culture’s biggest event in an effort to figure out whether or not we’re being conned. Plus, Saints Row enters the dominatrix, God of War’s developers forge an interesting alliance, a second Forza Xbox One title gets fast tracked and much, much more!
TOPIC: COMIC-CONNED? The spectacle that is Comic-Con has grown into the world’s largest celebration of pop-culture, but while gaming has historically held a prominent position at the show, has the event itself become too big to do justice to well-deserving game developers and fans? We look at this year’s show and the presence of both high and low profile games to evaluate Comic-Con’s status as evildoer or do-gooder in the gaming landscape.
COMIC-CON 2013 HEADLINES:
Digital distribution will ultimately take over as time progress. I doubt that it will be in the next decade or even in the next console generation. From a PC standpoint Steam does a lot of things right with the exception of ownership. Its sale special structure evolved from once a week to a daily offering allowing buyers to find that price point that suited them. PSN+ follows closest to this while Microsoft could be blamed as the engineers of the paid patch extra content. I'm not saying all added content should be free but the days of proper expansions pretty much ended because of the paid DLC practice.
While I prefer to have a physical copy in my hand and the ability to play a game at my own leisure we now have more choices than ever before on what we want to buy or support.
