No Man's Sky looks totally ace. It makes me remember the old ZX Spectrum game Elite. I used to love that back in the day. Traveling free around the universe, getting into random space battles and docking with unknown space stations. Great times and it mattered not a jot that the whole thing was rendered in sub 8 bit graphics. Your imagination and passion filled in the gaps for you. If No Man's Sky can achieve the same level of immersion and exploration that Elite did all those many moons ago, then it could be a pretty profound experience. Oh... And get DK on VGX duty stat. Don't deprive the world of THAT hair.

Hi guys. Good show. As far as the Rainbow 6: Patriots being remade, I'm quite pleased with it. Not that it's a good thing they aren't getting it right, but it's good to see a company taking it's time to make a good game. For me there is a bit of confusion when talking about FPS. Call of Duty and Battlefield are modern day military shooters. They have their differences, but if you take just a screenshot they pretty much look the same. They are also mainly online multiplayer games. Games like the Rainbow 6 series, Far Cry 3, Bioshock, Half-Life series, Borderlands, all have distinct characteristics, in tone, visually, gameplay wise, story and so on, and they are mainly single player or co-op experiences. You have to decide first of all what kind of game you are pushing for. Because the multiplayer focused game has nothing to do with the single player or co-op experience. If you make a game in the CoD format, you must be multiplayer and you must sell a lot to keep the community going. Because if you go for that type of experience in a single player environment, you end up with a crappy game. So I think we should stop just saying FPS, but understand what kind of focus the FPS has to be able to compare it to the right games.

There is nothing wrong with changing perspectives as long as the core elements remains. Metroid Prime is a prime example of how a game can be transformed from a side scrolling puzzle game to a more action packed first person game while retaining its puzzle core gameplay. Xcom declassified is an example of how you take your core game and fuck it up beyond recognition.

Rainbow Six was that tactical and strategic shooter where a mistake could be the end of a mission. Maybe Ubisoft should forget about releasing it as a $60 title and make it a smaller $15 title that remains true to the core aspects that the game had so long ago. If it works they can surely release another $15 expansion.

I'm glad to hear that Rainbow 6 is starting from scratch. I really haven't been interested in a Rainbow 6 game in a long time. My personal favorite is probably Rogue Spear, so I'd love to see the series return to that more tactical style. I still won't be putting too much hope on that, but I know the target game-play they had previously released for Patriots didn't really do anything for me so I'm interested to see what they come up with going forward.

And Star Wars Attack Squadrons? In my brain I heard "online enabled X-wing vs TIE Fighter" and immediately knew it wouldn't be anything nearly as stupendous as that. I guess we don't know for *sure*... but it sounds like something I will find myself ignoring...

And here's hoping everything goes smoothly for you and yours Brent! I've got my 2nd currently brewing at the moment, and while becoming a parent really does change so much about life I wouldn't have it any other way.

PS. Here's hoping for DAYZ standalone early access on Steam to get some kind of holiday sale, cause I wants to be inside it.
