TOPIC: PREPARED FOR TITANFALL? With March 11th fast approaching, Microsoft is pulling out all the stops to capitalize on the highly-anticipated launch of Titanfall. Ivan - I might have missed it fellas; but, I feel like the "tacked" on multiplayer was an attempt to increase profit from titles. COD established a cash cow with their yearly installments of the series; and, the multiplayer not only kept gamers playing and kept their games away from the second hand sellers, it gave them a venue to farm out DLC, map packs, skins, upgrades etc. Mass Effect 3 even forced players into their multiplayer by tying multiplayer progress to the final ending of the campaign.  Multiplayer means increase profit margin and this is more than a bullet point.  It represents how single player campaign/story games can extend their shelf life and cash revenue.  Nevertheless, I am in agreement.  Games should not strive to be something that they aren't by straying too far from their core experience.

There are multiple sides of the Titanfall bundle. Microsoft needs the sales of their Xbox One to increase and EA needs to change the mindset of gamers that an EA game is not broken day 1.

By the numbers the PS4 is the superior system but it will come down to the game selection in the end if you have enough exclusives and the right exclusives to swing consumer purchase decisions. Sony still needs to unveil that absolute must have killer app and I have yet to see such a game for this year.

I am perfectly happy with having a few exclusives and a few cross-platform games for PS4 and being fed free quality games monthly by PS+. Sony is pure win this gen. I am still however an xbox fence-sitter until the 399 without kinect unbundle

I don't claim to know what was going through the minds of Sony and Microsoft but it seems like both were afraid of their console being the last one on the market this time. I can't understand why as the history of console launches isn't consistent. The Genesis/Mega Drive was out well before the SNES and the SNES won. The PlayStation was out before the N64 but after the Saturn and won. The Dreamcast was out before the PlayStation 2 and was off the market before the GameCube or the original Xbox were released. The PlayStation 2 of course, thoroughly destroyed its competition. Last time the Wii was out second and won.

I think Microsoft would have been in a much better position had the Xbox One been launching with Titanfall in March. Sure, they would have started out behind but they are currently behind anyway. In any case, it would have given the suits more time to consider the inclusion of the kinect, whether or not the system had enough RAM and certainly have given the developers more time to polish up the launch games. Microsoft would have still cashed in on the 360 over the holidays. Of course this is only a hypothetical with the benefit of hindsight. Microsoft seems to have had all of the hubris that Sony had with the PS3 but none of the patience.

Id like to remind you gentlemen that the xbone STILL isnt officially released in all of Europe. Here in Sweden the stores are selling imported versions to have a console for the games. So the people who really want one has imported it, thereby stumping the sales here by a fair amount. I cant wait to hear them complaining about low sales after having delayed it by almost half a year, forcing people to import if they even want to take part. Or better yet, get a playstation instead.

In regards to the frustration brought on by install time, updates, etc. I could not agree more. Unfortunately, I am old enough to remember the same uproar that was caused by loading times. When the PS1 came out, many people (myself included) held off on buying a Playstation because the idea that I had to wait 10 to 30 seconds when venturing between areas was ludicrous.

But here we are today and nobody even talks about load times, we have just accepted it. Unfortunately, all the bad habits of modern gaming (lengthy install times, updates, patches, etc.) are going to go the same way. As I have gotten older I have come to realize one undeniable truth (this especially goes for males): we will go through hell and back just for a good experience.

The bundle doesn't include Titanfall for free, you will have to waste 330£ on an Xbone :P

It took me 25 minutes to install Thief on PC, but that includes a 20 gig download off Steam. Seems like the argument of consoles being more user friendly and easier to use then PC is no longer valid.

I'm surprised Microsoft has decided to release this Titanfall bundle at $499. I was sure they would do a bundle for that game at some point but thought it would be priced at $549.99 as you guys mentioned. I picked up an Xbox One in early January but I'm not bummed I missed out on this bundle. I'm actually happy Microsoft is being so competitive with Sony and trying to sell as many Xbox One's as they can. The gamers will benefit from both console manufacturers being as competitive as they can be.

As far as the Twitch app for the Xbox One goes, I think the biggest feature you guys didn't mention coming to the app is the ability to archive your streams. A lot of times I would stream games from my PS4 and my buddies would miss it because it would be at some random time in the day. It happened so often that I just stopped streaming on the PS4 altogether waiting for the Twitch integration to be updated. Now when I stream games on my Xbox One my buddies will be able to watch the streams whenever they want.

I don't usually agree with DK since he's wrong 89% of the time, but updates and installs and downloads are such an intrusion. I just wanna play my games.

Excited for the upcoming MGSGZ, but I will wait until after the launch to pick it up. I plan on getting the digital version so I can more easily play it on my Vita (don't have to switch disks in and out). BUT, with the GTA5 fiasco of the disk based version being a better quality experience, I will wait to see if there are any similar issues. You'd think now with the new consoles being as powerful as they are, there would be no issues. But I'll wait all the same.

The price drop does actually change my perception of the game. It really must be a somewhat limited experience, compared to MGS5:PP. I had a similar reaction to the price announcement of Daylight. $15? I suppose I guess it's like Outlast, which is $20. Regardless of price, I am still interested in the title. Have been having a blast with Outlast, though it has scared me silly on more than one occasion.

And boy, lemme tell ya: I do not have the manliest scream.

Gamer or QA tester? Early Access (long)

On the 16th of May 2007 the Halo 3 public Multiplayer Beta saw release for members of Microsoft's Xbox Live Subscription service. It contained 3 maps, a handful of game modes to play as well as a selection of the new weapons added in the sequel. Ostensibly the build was disseminated to test the matchmaking system, network loads and game balance but the use of an outdated iteration or 'Build', the heavy marketing and it's bundling with another…
