So it occurred to me that while there seems to be an increased amount of wildlife in games there is still an absence of dinosaur action. Huge lizards are surely a great fit for video games so why don't we see them anymore? I reckon it would only take one or two decent games and we would see them popping up all over the place (like zombies), so here are my suggestions on some dinosaur games. Some i genuinely believe could be awesome, others are ridiculous. I will let decide which is which.
1. Far Cry 4
Everyone knows the best part of Far Cry 3 was stalking the island and hunting the animals. The tension of creeping through the grass hoping a tiger doesn't get the drop on you, stumbling into a bear's cave etc. You could multiply that by 10 if dinosaurs are involved; setting traps to weaken a T-rex before bursting out to finish it, leading a stampeding triceratops into an enemy base, wandering into a raptor nest. All kinds of great in my book.
2. Dino Crisis
With Resident Evil moving more towards flat out action and seemingly losing the plot more with each iteration its time to bring back Dino Crisis. It could fill the gap for proper survival horror. After all, running into a 10 foot man eater with only a couple of pistol rounds left is far scarier than bumping into a zombie.
3. Bethesda RPG
There have been some disturbing (for me anyway) rumors that the next game Todd Howard's team are working on isn't Fallout 4. While this is almost certainly not true the only way i would not be heartbroken if it is would be if they were working on something involving dinosaurs. Hell you could even put dinosaurs in Fallout 4. Huge, irradiated, mutant dinosaurs.
4. Caveman Assassins Creed
OK so this game faces two large problems; 1. Assassins and Templars almost certainly don't date back to cave man times and 2. Man missed dinosaurs by a couple of million years. Lets be honest though, Ubisoft have hardly let logic or common sense stand in the way of their barmy ancient civilization/solar flare/apple of Eden plot so far so it isn't too much of a stretch. Besides scaling natural structures is more fun than square buildings and next gen muscle could probably make it feel much more organic than the slightly binary traversal of ACIII.
If you don't remember Zoids look them up they were cool. I am pretty sure they have already had a game and I'm pretty sure it was rubbish. Imagine though, massive Battlefront style battles where instead of hoping into tanks and planes you jump in huge mechanized dinosaurs equipped with lasers and rockets. Imagine also, the satisfaction of scaling one of these beats and tossing out the pilot before using it to wreak havoc on his team.
6. Saints Row 5
Where can the series go after the craziness of 4? Maybe a time portal opens up and Dinosaurs stalk the streets of Stillwater. Maybe the Saints have pet dinosaurs they can ride. Maybe the Saints leader can flat out transform into a dinsosaur. Maybe there are space dinosaurs and... Actually the real game will probably be crazier than any of these ideas.
Turok. The last couple of Turok games sucked and I have no wish to see him again any time soon.
