How will Hollywood A-listers change the course of the game industry?

Many games now feature celebrity voice-talent but with some titles capitalizing on A-List Hollywood actors, Iiro Lehtonen (‏@Murmelson) wants to know how that will change the game industry moving forward.

I dont know if this is the place to put the question but f-it :p which game franchise should stay at the old console and not try to force it into the new generation?

Having "Hollywood" talent will bloat an already ludicrous game budget to untold proportions. Even worse if studios are getting talent that is currently the flavor of the month it ups their asking price for work, i.e. you could have gotten Peter Dinklage for cheap 7 years ago but I'm sure his asking price after GoT is substantial.

If Hollywood actors bring something extra to the mix and are not just PR magnets, then I am all for their use in games. It is very much like their use in animated movies; sometimes you score big, like with Tom Hanks in Toy Story, other times you get David Scwimmer in Madagascar...which did not work at all.

I wish Rocksteady would make a TMNT game with the lore of the current comic reboot.

Just something on professional actors. Ian McKellen and Nigel Hawthorne were both professional actors who ended up in action movies. I think even Patrick Stewart is of that background. It isn't so special getting them in games and it is mostly a PR thing rather than something that adds some sort of qualitative value.

I've read it here and everywhere that being a good actor doesn't make you a good voice actor and that is especially important to remember with video games.

I personally couldn't care less if a  famous actor does voice work in a game. It just seems to be something that puffs up the budget to me.

AC: Unity - The good, the bad and the ugly

The good:

- Graphics. It looks stunning and the amount of NPC's roaming through the city give the game a nice ambiance and make the city come to life like no other game has ever done before.

- Interiors. Much more inside buildings now. Fast short cuts through a house or complete missions taking place in a palace. Not every house is accessible but there is plenty of them to make it divers.

- Riddles. Less hand holding this game. Riddles and murder cases to tease the…

Hatred is not about violence & here's why

PSA: Nothing I am saying is meant to be inflammatory or antagonizing. I am simply informing you the reader on my personal take of the Hatred controversy now that it has been several weeks and we can really take a step back to examine what the issue is.

The Hatred controversy is not about Violence in video games... Hatred is not about Grand Theft Auto, Hatred is not about Halo, heck Hatred is not about Boondock Saints or even Sons of Anarchy. Hatred is about Columbine, there I…
