Gaming's Most Epic Community. Cry Havoc and Let Your Voice Be Heard!

My Impressions of Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Demo.

The release of Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch demo was today on the PSN store and I knew I had to immediately download it.  The first time I saw this game/heard anything about it was at this years E3.  Here's the trailer from E3 2012 for whoever missed it.  It instantly grabbed my attention.  The artstyle, the colours, the imaginative world and the lively and whimsical characters were all there and it looked like a blast to play.  After playing through both portions of the demo, The Deep Dark Wood and The Mountain of Fire, all my excitement for this game was completely confirmed.

The demo for this game is fucking awesome.  Go DOWNLOAD IT NOW AND TRY IT OUT!  The artstyle cannot be commended enough.  I love it.  It's just so gosh darn cute.  The combat is fantastic.  It's real time combat, and not turn based but when you encounter an enemy in the world, the game transitions to a battle arena (like Paper Mario for instance).  It's actually kind of hard for me to explain it since I haven't played many games like this before with this kind of combat (which is a huge reason why I was intrigued by this game, I wanted to try something new).

Definitely give this demo a whirl if it intrigues you in the slightest, and even if it doesn't, try it anyways.  I literally loved everything about it and it is easily one of my most anticipated games of 2013.

The only negative thing I can really think of is that fact that the demo has a time limit (I think 25 minutes).  I'm kind of terrible at this game right now, so I didn't actually have enough time to beat the second boss in the Mountain of Fire level, but I managed to beat the first boss, the Guardian of the Forest in the Deep Dark Wood level.  I literally just want to explore everything in the demo, but the time limit does put a constraint on the amount of wandering and exploring you get to do.

And on a side-note and not a negative perse, but Old Father Oak looks a lot like Dolan.  Honestly, the resemblance is uncanny....and it's hilarious!

But seriously, just go download it now on PSN.  It's fucking brilliant! :)  The game is slated for release on Jan 22/2013 in North America and Jan 25th for EU and definitely deserves a purchase.  You won't be disappointed (unless you absolutely despise JRPGs).  Even then, you'll still love this demo.

You're welcome. Dang, I didn't know about this game till E3, but if I had known about it for over a year I wouldn't be able to contain my excitement or wait for that long.

I am playing the demo right now. So far I have died twice to the Guardian Boss. I tried to use the boy and the monster both and ended up getting the kid killed. I'm still trying to figure out how to switch between them well so I can heal and then attack - and defend the big attacks.

The art style looks really nice so far, I am a big fan of Miyazaki, I think they got his artwork down pretty well. It will be nice to play a JRPG that doesn't have that weird Final Fantasy style aesthetic that I've come to loathe.

Still not sure if I like the gameplay because I don't know what I am doing yet.

One funny thing was that when the little guy Drippy talks I thought he had a bunch of typos at first but I think they are going for some kind of accent.

I thought the exact same thing LMAO.  I thought they were typos, but I think it is some sort of accent as well.  Also, when I heard his voice, I was not expecting that.  He looked so cute, but his voice was like a rough and gruff Irish voice.

Those "typos" are also apparent in the German translation, so I guess it's intentional =D

Dear Microsoft

Hi Microsoft its me, the little guy who's been buying your consoles for the last ten years. Just wanted to let you now how excited I was by your new console reveal. Sure I would have liked to see more games (maybe even one being played) but I get why you didn't go that route. The reveal was a focus on the system itself right and you wanted to keep it relevant to actual specs and functionality, like when you announced a Halo TV show. Things like that were why people tuned in and I'm sure its…
