I personally have had it with day one DLC and I was on the fence with Deadspace 3 but after hearing about this it killed my interest in this game

Gabe Newell is wrong, the biggest threat to the Steam Box isn't Apple or the other consoles it's themselves with Steam. Their target audience isn't the casual audience so I fail to see how Apple will threat the Steam Box, if Apple did a gaming device for the living room they would just introduce more gamers into the living room which potentially could increase the amount of console gamers. The biggest problem for the Steam Box is offering something unique that the other consoles do not offer and offering something that a PC gamer cannot get from playing games on the PC using Steam. They would need to find a reason to make the move from the PC to the Steam Box which the only thing I think they could offer that would make someone buy the  Steam Box is if Valve's games are exclusively released only on it. The problem with doing this is it could ruin their current fan base who currently use Steam on the PC and have no desire to buy the box. The Steam Box doesn't really have threat, they are a threat themselves to the other consoles since their target audience is the more advance gamer (not the causal) which could convert some console gamers to a PC gamer with the Steam Box where they did not want to before with the move from console to PC.

As for Dead Space 3 after playing the demo I'm really not interested in the game, so many games this generation have gone stale too fast because they have released too many titles in so little time, there just hasn't been enough time between the last to the next where enough great ideas are brought forward and introduced to the franchise. The first Dead Space was great, the 2nd one was ok and this 3rd one just seems meh... co-op and the weapon customization just doesn’t seem necessary to advance the franchise or the horror genre, the more features the game has doesn’t mean a better game and the 11 day one DLC + the micro transactions just put the nail in the coffin… nice one EA -____- hopefully I’m wrong with the game and it ends up being good one but it’s going in my backlog vault at the moment, I'll just pick up the Game of the Year Edition where I will get the game and all the DLC for £15...

I've been worried about God of War Ascension not because of the Multiplayer since I've played the beta and think it's a great addition which offers something that other online games don't but the single player campaign and the story had me worried but after watching the 30mins gameplay vid this game has risen on my most anticipated games list which I've now pre-ordered and looking forward to playing, it very well end up being one of the best in the series :) And I've also got to hand it to Sony and Santa Monica with how they have shown off the game off not just with the GoW:A gameplay vid and the MP beta but with the commercial they did, it was so awesome! one of the best trailers for a game I've ever seen, it really makes you feel for Kratos and the music fits nicely with it.

Hi guys, listening to the show when the Dead Space 3 reviews started to come out. I wasn't really into this game. The whole nickle and dime thing turned me off even more, and now the reviews were the final nail in the coffin.

Republique is on my radar ever since the kickstarter event and it looks promising.

I really don't know what will happen in the future of gaming consoles. I'm hyped for the PS4, but who knows what will be the landscape in two or three years? If Apple and Valve really go into the living room it's a dice roll. The gaming scene has seen such change in recent years it's hard to predict the future. Kickstarter, the indie scene, IOs, Android, motion gaming, Steam Greenlight... it's just a different world from five or six years ago. Now with the new consoles, new players, Ouya, Oculus Rift, who can guess what will happen. What I hope happens is that gaming becomes even more diverse, reaches an even greater number of people, with more choice, more places and different ways to play. I can't guess the future, but I'm really optimistic. Whatever comes, it's the most exciting time ever to be a gamer. We are living in a age we could only dream of as kids. The possibilities look infinite...

when a game is made design choices have to be made and it just really annoys me that nickle and dimeing is starting to have a influence on game design. It would also really annoy me if instead of adding stuff to the game prior to release they actually remove it and release it later to sell or even worse disc locked content

Oh, and by the way, no word on the announcement Sony is preparing for February 20th?

I played the Dead Space 3 demo and I rather liked it. Was sold on the game until I watched the saterday episode of AG where it seems that DS3 will look the same on all platforms and if you translate that to PC, low detail texture and frame locked to 30fps.

Apple tried the console scene and failed. However like the pc the iOS devices gets replaced annually and not just that but it gets passed down in the family. Microsoft is trying to integrate a tablet with their console. As time goes by I can see a tablet replacing your dedicated box or pc in the living room. Just start making it stream, no hdmi cables just wireless streaming, and they can make a killing. We are seeing PCs falling in sales because people can do most things on their tablets ignoring the productivity aspect. The Ouya is still a console regardless of being android. So imagine you living room... no, anyones living room with a TV capable of streaming wireless HD. You take your tablet and just link it up to your friends tv, your tv or the hotels tv that you visit and its all your apps and games on your tablet or smartphone, your music, your movies. It is mobility unlike your console that is stuck in the same spot.

It looks like you get the initial bonus DLC just by loading BS:Infinite flash game and as you progress you just get some more extras for completing the levels and such.

To my understanding, I think that is how the pre-order content works. I actually played the entire thing through for a strange Twitter background. Go figure, but I actually enjoyed the experience and played Lazy Eights Steam title, Cogs, which is surprisingly well stylized for an indie puzzler.

Despite the shady nickel and dime game design, Dead Space 3 seems to be doing well among critics  ¯\_( ° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯ I am one more for horror tho, it's the same reason Resident Evil 6 didn't appeal to me, flawed gameplay aside.

Newell was right to say that Apple is competition for the living room to the Steam Box, however, to say it will be the greatest threat is a precautionary outlook. I'll agree with the other Axeheads on the differences of target audience and unreliable casual gamer retention, but similarly designed Apple product will produce even a little competition. Now, that's not even including what the guys at Sony and Microsoft are cooking up, we'll have to wait and see.

The DmC Sountrack is SICK!

to be honost I dont think apple has a chance at all with a game box on the tv.  The ios games would look like crap on a large tv and who wants to play angry birds on a tv all the games on the ios are portible 10 to 15 mins of fun enless apple buys a studio and makes a tripple a game they dont have a breath of hope and I dont ever see them getting into game making.  So with that I cant see anyone buying it for that hell all the games on the wii are better experiences sitting on your couch then any ios games cause I know if I sit done to my tv im looking for a red dead experience not cut the rope.  Plus if apple did try to make a tripple a game for it I shudder to think how crappy it would be being they dont make games lol and being they use prepritory hard ware it would be just like the ps3 no developer would waste there time.

Hey guys great podcast this week.  I heard from the great Marcus Beer that the day one DLC packs total out to 40 bucks, so the final cost to get everything for the game is 100 dollars before tax.  He said and I agree you could get a collectors edition of a game for that much money. I have come to expect this of EA and I am disgusted by it.  We deserve to have all the content that they want to offer for a base set price and not this horrible concept this generation has brought upon us.

Axefactor 180. We Get What We Deserve

I would love to change my username to DaySixEdition games.

Greetings fellow Axeheads.  I am once again compelled to write my thoughts in the same theme I wrote every other time in relation to the AxeFactor #180.  Our glorious Axelords Brent and Lorin again ponder as to why it is that our industry treats us like crap.  There is even a pole again for us to express what we feel about the situation.

The pole is missing the ''The industry treats us as we deserve.''   Which is what…

What We’re Watching:…

AC: Unity - The good, the bad and the ugly

The good:

- Graphics. It looks stunning and the amount of NPC's roaming through the city give the game a nice ambiance and make the city come to life like no other game has ever done before.

- Interiors. Much more inside buildings now. Fast short cuts through a house or complete missions taking place in a palace. Not every house is accessible but there is plenty of them to make it divers.

- Riddles. Less hand holding this game. Riddles and murder cases to tease the…

Hatred is not about violence & here's why

PSA: Nothing I am saying is meant to be inflammatory or antagonizing. I am simply informing you the reader on my personal take of the Hatred controversy now that it has been several weeks and we can really take a step back to examine what the issue is.
