Brent - what happened with Aliens: colonial marines? Where is A:CM on your "most disappointing GOTY" list?

Good question Michal.

So disappointing that everyone forgot it was released?

About Batman: Arkham Origins on PC being bugged: I played through it about a week after launch and had no serious bugs at all. Two things I did notice were problems with the grappling hook hit detection being a dick and glide kick not working if Batman was already in the air, gliding. Both a bit irritating, not game braking in any. Other the that no bugs at all.

Oh, and Metro: Last Light GOTY for me as well, it's amazing. If You never played any Metro games you can pick up both right now for less then a proce of one new game. play them both back to back and You'll have an amazing time. Metro 2033 is patched and works perfect at this point :)

Lorin....I picked up Metro Last Light when you mentioned it as an awesome game earlier this year after its release; and, I was surprised how you never mentioned it afterwards in any of your subsequent podcasts.  I picked it up shortly afterwards and found the stealth elements, atmosphere, and combat rewarding; but, ultimately, the story and overall experience fell flat among the average games of this year.  I respect your opinion and choice.  It just appears to be so utterly random. :-)

In no particular order.

-Bioshock Infinte

-Batman Arkham Origins

-Saints Row IV

-Grand Theft Auto V

-Lego Marvel Super Heroes

-Assassins Creed IV Black Flag

-Call of Juares Gunslinger

-Tomb Raider

-And now the two games I definitely can rank!

2- Brothers a Tale of Two Sons.

The most unique game I've ever played.

Awesome way of telling a story through progression with a genius gameplay mechanic.

The world and creatures they've created are phenomenal, they shift between dark and gorgeous but never fail to impress.

1- The Last of Us

If I had to describe this game in the shortest way possible then I would say that it's one of those surreal vivid dreams that you can't wake up from no matter how horrible things get and since this is not a dream you won't even want to wake up.

NaughtyDog does a stellar job immersing the player with superb voice acting, realistic animations and that entire new level of soundtrack and sound effects.

Words can't describe it but you really have to experience it.

Haven't got to 3D World, Lego City Undercover and Wind Waker HD yet and I have no intentions of rushing em.

P.S

Brent!

There is more than one phase in losing your virginity and since this was your example about Bioshock Infinite I would like to say that doing it underwater is totally different from doing it in the mile high club :P

1. My game of the year is Tomb Raider. despite it being a bit illogical (Lara turning into mass murderer in 15 seconds) I enjoyed it the most. Mainly because I really wanted an Uncharted type game on my PC.

Honorable mentions go to Batman: Arkham Origins and Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Both wonderful games and both incredibly well optimised on the PC. Both games never fell below 60 fps. Not even for a second. And on max settings! It was wonderful and let me enjoy those great games even more.

By the way Nvidia Physx effects in Batman were incredible, I've never seen something as impressive as that.

2. The biggest fail this year in my opinion is Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. Horrible, horrible PC version. Clunky controls, abysmal optimisation. Had to play on the lowest setting possible to scratch 60 fps. It was horrible experience. I'm kind of glad that after AC3 failure I saw this coming and didn't buy into it this time around.

Close follow-up is BF4. For the same reasons as Lorins. I've played 30 hours of this game, and can't really be bothered with crashing all the time. I don't really care if it's fixed by now, because when I wanted to play the game, it did everything it could to not let me.

When it works, it is such a great experience. And this is why it "hurts" so much.

I can't see myself playing this game as much as I played BF3 (almost 350 hours).

Maybe later when I get the urge to play a mp game again, I will return, but right now, I'm done with it.

3. Game I haven't played yet, but really really want to is Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, which I bought yesterday. It's TotalBiscuit's GOTY and favorite game ever. I respect that man and value his opinions, so I had to check it out.

P.S.

Lorin!

If You can't stand playing The Last of Us, I think You should try watching a Let's Play. I would recommend FrankieOnPCin1080p's LP. It's the best let's play I have ever seen.

Oh, and Happy Holidays, Axeheads!

@Michał Kozak: That's a great question and the answer is...I completely forgot about it. Or, I was so traumatized by it that I blocked it from ever setting up root in my long-term memory. Either way I never even thought it about when compiling the list.

Lorin's distaste for the Last of Us continues to blow my mind. And yet the points he makes are completely valid. I don't know what to think.....except that he is wrong and the game is great :)
