Thanks again for another great podcast fellas :)

I take on board what you say about the potential benefits VR in general might gain as a result of the FB acquisition, but a few things things still worry me.

1. A current lack of some kind of open standard initiative for a virtual reality ecosystem that Facebook would sign up to.
2. The potential for FB to gain enough hardware/software patent control over VR that it makes it really difficult for other devices to compete effectively.

Facebook are a corporation that live and breath revenue stream generation tactics. Its inevitable that any eco system created by a company they own will require a FB account, and contain revenue generating ads at some point.
They're like banks.. its the reason they exist.. they simply can't not do that.

Anyway, that aside, I look forward to seeing how the technology evolves.

I also want to say a huge thanks to Brent for his Twitch streaming. Crackin' good times :)

I'm fascinated with the idea of mapping the planet for game play. Being Canadian, very rarely are any Canadian cities ever represented in games and if they are it is either Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal (though I will say, I love Canada in the South Park game). Anyways, being able to play a game located in a city I am familiar with would be amazing. What would kill it for me is a Day Z type game but that spans the Earth and having the choice to start the sim in my hometown.

Great show! I have been wondering as Q1 has just ended what is taking @Lorin so long to pick up an imported or Brazilian craigslisted, or wife smuggled PS4. With Trials Fusion coming up and Infamous SS already out.... there is reason enough to own one!

As far as the Oculus story, I am torn if I want to wait for which is more affordable or which is more applicable to games whether in dev kit or retail form. It is no longer an if but a when for VR. It sounds like the guys flipped on resistance to big corporate takeover and more towards the potential benefit to the masses. I have to agree for the hard work on behalf of this small dev team and the claims that will change so many things as we see it now. Please please keep the optimistism!!!

Brent, I forget how, but you can change the settings on Youtube so you can upload videos hours in length, you just need to give them your number and they text you a key that you enter that unlocks your ability to upload videos hours in length. I know because I've done it!

I am not really worried about the retail release of the Rift under Facebook, but I am concerned for its future implications. Facebook is stepping into VR and hardware in a very big way here and with this tech under their belt they can and will be the forerunners in applied VR outside gaming. It is not hard to imagine that this is a stepping stone for Facebook and that we will see further buys into tech like robotics, peep-hole surgery, defence, space, sub-sea vehicles, oil industry etc.

Google gave us Street View, they bought Boston Dynamics they are doing serious work on driverless cars. I think Facebook is following in Googles footsteps of branching out and that they are expanding out of the internet and into the real world with VR as one of their bridges.

I have been playing a ton of Reaper of souls. Completely started over with the new class, the crusader, and it is one of the best expansions blizzard has done in my opinion. Between fixing the loot system and redoing the difficulty system so it scales with you and you can continue to level your class without the frustration of getting destroyed like in the original diablo 3. I've read that once you finish act 5 and unlock the adventure mode and the bounty/rift system it gets even better.

Hope to hear about Brent's take on infamous second son next week. By far my favorite infamous game and in my opinion sucker punch created an amazing super hero game.

As usual great show!

When I read Facebook bought Oculus I was like wait what, hunh, wait, no, noo , noooooo, (no as in no way, why the hell would Facebook buy Oculus) but since i really had no stake in VR I mostly listened to what other people had to say and i came to the same agreement as you guys. While this might be seem like an odd coupling it might help VR as a whole get here a lot faster. That being said I'm not really in to VR where i have to put something on my face, I would have to try it on before making any final decision, but as for right now I'm indifferent on it.

Lorin on the Titanfall cheater they do not ban the player they just make them playe with other cheaters, which i think is hilarious

p.s. I also can speak about the google buying companies and then shutting them down. This happened to one of my favorite websites i used to use for photo editing and it pissed me the fuck off.
