What Are Your Favorite Games, Movies, Books or ANYTHING? Let's Find Out on Favslist!

Hey there Axeheads! I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season and is currently enjoying some time with friends, family and loved ones - preferably while also enjoying a few great games!

While those of you that follow me on Twitter or have me as a friend on Facebook might have already seen, 2014 is bringing about some new and exciting projects for me personally and I wanted to take a moment to talk about one in particular.

In a nutshell, I've been busy creating a new social media platform that's all about your favorite things. It's called Favslist and, as the name implies, it compiles all of your favorite games, books, movies, tv shows, athletes - WHATEVER - in one convenient place while giving you access to updates and opinions on the things you love the most.

Think of Favslist as an outlet for your enthusiasm. Love a particular game character? Rank them and the let the world know? Looking forward to a certain game or movie in 2014? Track it and get updates from the community. Wanna know which games people think have the best storyline, art style, or sound track? Just check out the lists and then share your own! Best of all, Favslist let's you interact with EVERYTHING - not just games - so your social DNA now has a place to call home!

In addition, Favslist is about to see the inclusion of brand pages, so particular games, game developers, movies, etc. will have their own pages to manage much like they do on Facebook. That's when you'll be able to see the true nature of what Favslist is all about as we revolutionize the relationship between brands and consumers.

My belief is that instead of just throwing ads in your face to let you know about what they're offering, brands will be using social media to build more meaningful relationships with you, their biggest fans, while rewarding you for your social influence and impact on their popularity. Favslist has been built to foster this environment and will also be a big outlet for your enthusiasm in regards to whatever it is you love (or are excited about) the most.

It's a big project - no doubt - but it won't impact EBA or EBC in any way other than we'll be including some discussion points in our shows about the trends (pertaining to gaming) happening on the platform. Every time you discuss, rank, rate, recommend, track or otherwise interact with anything on Favslist, it impacts that things presence on the platform.

So, instead of just tossing up a news post, review or commentary about games like The Last of Us or The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on other social platforms, you actually impact those game's standings on Favslist and help bring them the attention you think they deserve. We, in turn, will see these trends and discuss them on EBC in small snippets of the show.

The platform is still in beta, but we already have over 400 users who have created over 43,000 items in our database! I've made a few tutorial videos about our innovative tracking system and creating pages that can help you get started and I'd like to personally invite the EBA community to test it out and give me your feedback. After you create a profile, you might be interested in checking out the Most Anticipated Games or the Favorite Games of 2013. Then, it's all about inviting some friends, discovering new ones, and having fun impacting the things you love on the platform.

Brent, Tony and I are looking forward to brining you another year of EpicBattleCry as we keep trimming the fat from the gaming stories of the day and your interaction with Favslist will help play a part in the perception of what's hot, what's not and what deserves the most attention on our shows.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and for checking out my new project! Add me, Brent and Tony as friends on Favslist and be sure to rank EpicBattleCry as one of your favorite websites (which I hope it is!) while you're there!

Cheers, Axeheads, and here's to a great 2014!!!

Wow! Sure sounds like an astonishing scale project, but all the more power to it - favslist is an incredible idea!:)

Damn you DK since I started to use favslist, I have added 57 pages to the site, and ranked 137. Why must you make such a site, now I need to rank everything.

Ha! Awesome! Be sure and add me as a friend! I look forward to finding out more about our community through the things you all like!

This is a really sharp idea.  It looks to have that kind of Pintrest addictive trait =).  This could really take off.  Hope it works out for you.  Hopefully GT will let you pimp it on their site as well.

Thanks, Ben! Yes, I'll be managing a presence on Favslist for both EBA and GT where fans/followers can see staff recommendations for pics, our personal favs, and contribute to a larger conversation about topics like "Most Underrated Games", "Most Anticipated", etc. Looking forward to getting it all going!

YOu need a other option for games not on the list. I played a crap ton of imports/ japanese only games all my life and it hurts not having a way to put them up there or not knowing what the english game title might be when it finally made it here years later...

I agree with the general feeling that this is indeed very good idea and I already transferred my UnikGamer lists to FavList.

Good luck, DK!

I believe in your attempt and aim, yet I can't stop the lingering feeling of thinking "here we go...another account...another log in etc."

Leigh Alexander Gets Fisked

So Leigh Alexander at Gamasutra, Luke Plunkett at Kotaku and Dan Golding (who has written for many places), have written articles on the same day, on the same subject. That's an interesting coincidence. It is also interesting that Chris Plante over at Polygon also had a very similar article, covering the same issues, on the same day though it was written more as a summary of the past week. Now there are time zones to consider but these were all published within 24…
