What is your greatest wish/expection for the new generation?

After some discussion with the axeheads I asked myself what I want out of the next generation of gaming. And my answer is suprising. |It is neither better grafics or better AI. It does not even have to do with hardware.

What I want from the next generation the most is the introduction of used game sales for digital games. As soon as one of the major platforms does that I will go all digital, never looking back.

So, what would you like to see?

Agreed. With them pretty much forcing people to be Online most the time, and having Mandatory 24 hour check-ins, they should add this option that really benefits the consumer. They'd know what's going on inside my Xbox One at all times, so they can easily keep tabs on all the game licenses.

No, No and No.. (However, I do respect your opinion... Also, I just got back from the bar, so I apologize if parts of this post doesn't make sense....And maybe I don't get your blog at all... I'm drunk.... ;).....)
I (personally) don't wanna go all Digital.
Old School gaming is far to important for me.
I'm living in Tokyo now and I'm constantly buying PSX and SNES titles to play. (Many of which you can't find in Western-markets).
Also, Every time I go back to Sweden I visit our "summer-house/holiday house", and we ain't got no internet connection there, except 3G/4G for the phones...
I think "sales for Digital games" are important in the future if they continue selling them for 50-60 dollars/each, (which is far to expensive for any digital media, in my opinion) but I don't wanna go All digital because I love the nostalgic feeling of picking up a old game and pop into a console and play it.
I also like the feeling of actually owning a game. My point of view towards Digital Media is weird (I admit) but I don't get any satisfaction from Digital Games - I could probably write an entire blog on this - but I will give you 2 examples:

1. I used to own a Xbox (the first one) and it was chipped, I downloaded a game for free, checked it out, went on to the next one, checked it out, next one, next one, next one... I didn't enjoy a single game cuz I they where all for free.
2. I'm currently a PS+ member. I download awesome games every month for "free" and i check them out... Once again, I do not enjoy them... At all... Since the end of the PS2-era I longed for Shadow Of The Colossus - last month, it appeared on PS+ and I downloaded it. Checked it out (30-ish minutes) and have never touched it since...

For me (once again, my opinion is weird as shit) buying REAL games at full price adds a certain excitement/pride to the game I just bought. I'm exited to open the box, pop it into my console, crack a beer, and play it. Digital Games has none of that. They don't feel "real" and I'm not exited to play them.

I'm afraid everything will go Digital at some point. But until then, i will continue support physical copies (just like some people buy physical CD's nowadays).

To answer your question, I wanna see better AI, Unpredictable gameplay is something I really enjoy.

Easy: I want less pop-ins!

All I want in the next generation is that Digital market, escapes the chains that the physical games holds them in ... That Is what I want to see.

Less same old, same old just with better graphics. Also MMORPGs would be interesting.

I'm with RuneFredriksen. I like old-school gaming. I want a copy in my hands that I can touch. I would like region free with unlimited access to international accounts. That would totally float my boat!

Leigh Alexander Gets Fisked

So Leigh Alexander at Gamasutra, Luke Plunkett at Kotaku and Dan Golding (who has written for many places), have written articles on the same day, on the same subject. That's an interesting coincidence. It is also interesting that Chris Plante over at Polygon also had a very similar article, covering the same issues, on the same day though it was written more as a summary of the past week. Now there are time zones to consider but these were all published within 24…
