Is it just me or have next-gen games gone up by £10-15 in the UK? Thought prices weren't going up... :(

The same thing happened at the start of last gen, I expect they will drop a tenner in the coming months... Well I bloody hope they do!

I've seen games going for 70 euro here in Ireland......not a happy cabbage

As with everything else, the announcements that prices "wouldn't change" were USA-centric. That said, Amazon UK seems to drop most next gen games to about £48 a couple weeks before the game releases. As Joe says, it happens every gen; early adopters get the pleasure of covering the expense of multi-gen development. Once the paradigm shift occurs, prices will almost certainly come down.

@ Rahvon Prices in the Gamestop in Cork have been sneaking up over the past year or so. Even current gen games have gone from 50 to 60 euros over the last year. Havent been in there since the xbox launched so can't comment on next gen prices

Yup, here in Portugal, as Rahvon stated for Ireland, it seems the prices are still at 70€ (94$/58£).

Yeah I am really not liking the trend I'm seeing. Bad enough that Gamestop really don't seem to show any desire to drop prices on games even after they have been on the market for months. Does anyone know what the prices are like on PSN or Xbox Live? DO they match retail or are they a bit cheaper?

They start out at 70 euro digital too. That said Sony have really stepped up their game in terms of digital sales. I don't own a 360 so I can't comment on Xbox live

Identifying with games and game characters

This is actually just a copy-paste of my most recent comment on this weeks Axe Factor. I've long intended this as a blog post, which is why it appears here as well.

I haven't heard the podcast yet, but I felt like writing a response to the question to this weeks poll, "Have you ever had a "That's Me!" experience with a video game character?"

The answer is yes. One of the most powerful gaming experiences for me the last couple of years have been To The…

For our 50th episode, the crew of the Axehead Assembly wanted to do something special.
