Just finished wathcin' the VGAs. Gotta give them their props - the show was much better this year.

I didn't watch. Turgid pile of crap IMO. I just pick up the few exclusive trailers on youtube or GT when its over. Still, props to TellTale.

I guess I'm the only one who didn't really like it. It was even more cringe worthy than last year.

First time I actually watched the VGAs not really sure what all the fuss is about with the complaints... giving out awards to the main categories, new debut game trailers, celebrities/bands there to make it more of a show, comedy with the host in video games. People saying it sucks or cringe worthy can you guys explain what was wrong about it? and what you would of liked instead cause I honestly don't know what was wrong with this VGA expect for maybe more awards being given out during the actual show instead of the pre-show.

Basically everything Sam Jackson said made me cringe.

My first time also. I did enjoy the trailers but I do agree with Josh it was VERY cringe worthy at times, way to "MTV" for my liking.
Comment by Talis12 on December 8, 2012 at 8:58pm
Bunch of celebrities.. check. Host that makes a few jokes.. check. Couple of music performances.. check. Lots of lights, smoke and lasers... check. The VGA's is to gaming what the MTV Awards is to music.. a celeb show for the ratings.

Was it an enjoyable show to watch? Sure.. who doesn't like to see Jessica Alba be cute and sexy on stage? Who doesn't want to see the sweetest upcoming game trailers? And the winner is.... The Walking Dead! Ow, and they also won best studio... Really? There aren't that many categories. Why not give them proper respect instead of this add-on sentence thrown in at the end each time? Was this about the games or was this about SamL Jackson? I got mad respect for SamL as an actor but everything on the show revolved around him, taking all the glory away from the games and their creators.

Im happy for Journey, Borderlands and The walking Dead.. but this show still isn't about games. They should do a PAX Award at the end of the year and have the award ceremony be done by gamers, given to gamers, among gamers.. it would be way more interesting to watch and they would get a lot more love and respect than they are getting now.

Agreed Lorin, there wasn't really a bad trailer that was shown this year and the Sam Jackson skits were funny to me at least. Plus whenever something stupid was going on (like Linkin Park) I could jump onto the second screen and watch Daniel chat with some pretty interesting people (its great so see Cliffy talk about stuff without being crippled by working on anything actually). I actually watched the whole thing again purely from the second screen and I think DK did a great job! Also, South Park game and Dark Souls 2 <3

The show was really entertaining year.. I don't know about the games who won but the actual show was spectacular. Can't go wrong with Samuel L Jackson..

To Talis12, it would be interesting to watch to "us" but for casual viewers i probably would not work well.  They are trying to get rating not please a minority.

Comment by Talis12 on December 9, 2012 at 8:36am

@Tyriek, and that's exactly the problem. Casual viewers don't care about who wins it anyway, they dont know what goes on in the gaming industry and dont know half the games that are nominated, so why cater to that crowd? Why make a show for a crowd that doesn't understand it and isn't interested in the outcome? That only watched it because Linkin Park performed. It's all for ratings/money and thats the exact thing that makes this industry go bad.

The Axe Factor Poll!

How much does the Xbox One-Nvidia "scandal" bother YOU?
A lot. This is one step removed from the Killzone 2 pre-rendered E3 trailer0%
I don't care as long as the games look this good running on Xbox One hardware (which they probably will)0%
Not at all, people are being naive to think this practice doesn't happen all the time0%
I'll reserve judgement until we see if the games look noticeably different on Xbox One hardware0%

No EpicBattleCry This Week :[

Hey all. As I said in this week's episode of The Axe Factor, we won't be able to record EpicBattleCry this week. With DK still out of town and a last minute snag in Tony's schedule, we just weren't able to carve out the time to get together.

In light of today's news vis-a-vis Microsoft, that might not be such a terrible thing since we normally record on Tuesday and we would have completely missed out on discussing this dramatic reversal. In any case, we should be…

Today I 'ave been mostly rememberin': Metroid Games

As I am typing this, we're deep inside the annual summer gaming drought of 2013. The last interesting current gen game I played was Bioshock Infinite. I'm now waiting patiently for The Last of Us to drop through the mail slot. In the interim, I have amused myself by going back and playing a whole bunch of the old Metroid titles. And I've had an absolute blast doing so. It's been one of the most nostalgic and satisfying gaming periods of my entire life. I replayed and finished all five of the…

What is your greatest wish/expection for the new generation?

After some discussion with the axeheads I asked myself what I want out of the next generation of gaming. And my answer is suprising. |It is neither better grafics or better AI. It does not even have to do with hardware.

What I want from the next generation the most is the introduction of used game sales for digital games. As soon as one of the major platforms does that I will go all digital, never looking back.

So, what would you like to see?

Nintendo Says: If devs are worried about used game sales, they should make better games

This bold statement was made by Nintendo and features on the Polygon site.

Personly i do, considering that most of the games made today and which are gonna be made for the Next-Generation of konsoles will be like before.

Sarah Is the most important character in THE LAST OF US. Here's why....*MASSIVE SPOILERS*
