His arguments are really really weak.
"We’re so impressed by what can still be done with the PlayStation 3." really? im still pissed i cant play youtube videos in hd, i'm really not impressed by all the framerate drops i get in games, the lack of AntiAliasing and the fact that they are holding back game development on the pc.
"if they buy used games, there will be a day where there won’t be any new games at all" there has always been a used market for games, and the industry keeps growing and growing. And there are a lot of f2p games that boom like there is no tomorrow.

I fully agree with Docwoor. PS3 is a dead system now. I only use it as a bluray player. I hope PS4 can give us 1080p 60fps. Like the PS3 should have done. If not then the system has failed. Better to keep my PC that can handle it.

@Docwoor: I think he means that they are still impressed with what can still be done with the PS3's hardware not what can be done in general.

@Berserkaren: the PS3 isn't a dead system as long as there are games still coming:

Ni No Kuni (just released), The Last of Us, Metal Gear Rising, God of War Ascension, Beyond Two Souls, Puppeteer, MLB 13, Atelier Ayesha, Hyperdimension Neptunia V, Naruto Shippuden 3, Tales of Xillia, Toki to Towa, Killer is Dead, Yaibi: Ninja Gaiden Z, Lightning Returns: FFXIII, Fuse, Destiny and others...

Those games say otherwise... all games that the PC is not getting so I fail to see how the PS3 is a dead system unless your not interested in any of those games!

The PS3 hardware maybe outdated but their games are not. I probably could use my PS3 for another 2-3yrs since Sony will continue to support it as well as a backlog to go through.

I dont think its a dead system either. There are still a few games I play, exclusively exclusives :) but i am neither impressed by what can theoretically be done nor with what is being done. If I had the money I'd buy myself a new TV and build an HTPC or just hook up my gaming pc.

From a gaming standpoint I really dont see what there is to be impressed with. There are a few exlusives that i like, but other than that i feel myself being held back by the controller.

The other part i was expecting more from the ps3 was multimedia. Other than looking at pictures it does nothing really good. I cant watch youtube in hd, i cant watch HD movies (no netflix or hulu here). so my ps3 is mostly gathering dust. the pc does mostly everything better.

@Docwoor:

While I'm not a huge PC gamer I still played some PC games in the last year Diablo 3, Hawken, Amnesia, Chivalry, War of Tanks and a few others but I don't think there is anything that more impressive with PC games to consoles games to be honest, obviously you get the enhancement of graphics which is always impressive to see, performance and mods but it's not like PC games are doing anything that special with the games that make me go WOW! it really comes down to the developer and innovation. If The Last of Us and GoW Ascension can top their previous games then I would still be impressed with what the PS3 can do even though it would be nice to see something more out of this world, I think next gen will give us that :)

I could be wrong since I'm not the biggest PC gamer but which PC games have really impressed you in the last few yrs? or even some coming out this year that seem so impressive that you can't miss out on it?

It's like the Wii U for example the system itself is outdated but it is going to have the most impressive Nintendo games to date, Pikmin 3 and the Xeno game look impressive to me for a Nintendo game but as soon as you compare it to the PC it looks inferior and not really that impressive any more.

Also the multimedia features doesn't bother me I purchase a gaming system for the sole reason to play games on it so I couldn't care less, it's nice to have those extra features but I wouldn't care less if it didn't have them.

@Berserkaren

I also forgot about, Sly Cooper, FFX HD Remake and Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMix all on the PS3 :)

Most triple A games on the pc were a huge letdown in the last year (Diablo3, Mass Effect 3). The last PC-Games that was really good in my opinion was PlanetSide2. This is where consoles fail, you cant have the scope of PS2 on consoles, even other shooters like BF3 only had half the players that the pc supports. This is where the consoles hardware stalls the development of games. You just cant push the hardware any further.

And while we are talking scope, there is the whole mmo genre that is missing on consoles, no WoW, no EvE-Online.

There are also a lot of the indie games that are missing, like FTL. While I'm not a huge indie gamer, i enjoyed that one a lot.

Then there is the Strategy genre that's missing on consoles. Civilization, Starcraft, Shogun, Warhammer, Endless Space, Company of Heroes.

Then there is the whole mod community. Most prominently you have Day Z and the whole Skyrim community.

The games I am really looking forward to are Star Citizen and Project Eternity. Again pc exclusives.

I only have a handfull of games for my playstation. Uncharted series, GoW3, Journey, Red Dead, Gran Turismo. Thats about it. Even the games that are multiplatform i rather get on the pc because the loadtimes are faster, the controls are better with m&k. The multimedia part bothers me quite a lot. I need to have a usb stick formated for the ps3 in Fat32, because thats the only format it will accept, it cant play hd movies, so i had to buy a media player for that. It takes up space and it costs money.

And this is my biggest gripe with the consoles, games are absurdly expensive. On the pc if you dont mind waiting a few months and wait for the sales, you can get most games for a bargain price.

@Docwoor:

I think that's why I ain't much of a PC gamer, I'm not really into strategy games and MMO games I play one now again but ain't interested in those genres.

And considering PC doesn't get much Japanese game support, that's probably another big factor.

While I agree with scope being a big thing with some PC games compared to console games, I think MMOs are also possible on consoles but they really haven't developed much on them probably because they are just not as good as they are on PC, some are probably not even possible though.

However the PS3 will be getting FFXIV: A Realm Reborn release soon and if it can run that game without problems then that would be pretty impressive to be honest. I'm getting it for PS3 but would end up getting the PC version later on if I get into the game.

Dear Microsoft

Hi Microsoft its me, the little guy who's been buying your consoles for the last ten years. Just wanted to let you now how excited I was by your new console reveal. Sure I would have liked to see more games (maybe even one being played) but I get why you didn't go that route. The reveal was a focus on the system itself right and you wanted to keep it relevant to actual specs and functionality, like when you announced a Halo TV show. Things like that were why people tuned in and I'm sure its…
