Comment by Abberjam on February 25, 2013 at 2:48am I thought the hot sauce test literally was a joke. How could that test be quantifiable in the slightest? Not to mention the fact that spicing up someone's meal is hardly the same as taking an uzi to school.
Regarding the difference between watching or playing a game, i strongly subscribe to that idea that if you are only watching a violent game there is a disconnect between you and the violence making it less impacting than actually playing. When you are actually playing, there is more going on chemically and emotionally. I think playing does raise your levels of the relevant emotions in the moment, whether it's aggression in shooting or driving games or thoughtfulness in puzzle games, but not in any significantly lasting or detremental way.
I have been playing videogames of all kinds, including violent ones for over 25 years, since I was about 10 years old and I don't feel it has unbalanced me in the slightest. I love FPS and yet I am a very passive person when it comes to real-world aggression/violence, not just in practise but in intent. The thought of doing real damage to someone else makes me feel terrible, i just have no want to do it.
I'm sure there are many other gamers who feel the same

I totally agree with you.
A comment from GT.com by randay92, similar to what you're saying.
"I think it was Adam Sessler on an episode of Sessler's Something where he made the point that the aggression one experiences after playing a game isn't because of the violence, but more so the competitive nature of the game. Even playing sports, people can get aggressive, so it's not just video games."

Hey fellow Axeheads! It's been a looooong time since I posted a blog, but now that summer is right around the corner, I wanted to take the time and talk about my most anticipated games between the months of June and September. Here are the top 3 games I'm interested in this summer:
3. GTA V (September 17)
To close out the summer, Rockstar is bringing us my number 3 most anticipated game, GTA V. You might ask, why is this game only at the number 3 spot on the list? Well…
When I was growing up, I remember playing alot of simulation games where you’d create either a hospital, a theme park, a zoo, you name it there was a `Tycoon` game for it. Now a new indie game has come out of the wood work and brought back such fun memories of said childhood. This is Game Dev Tycoon.
Game Dev Tycoon starts you out small, working from your garage with 70K, no fans and little knowledge of what is…
Break out the lightsaber, team EBC takes a swing at the Star Wars and EA announcement to discuss the light and dark sides of the news. Plus, Assassin’s Creed IV find the perfect jewel, What’s in and what’s not in the new Wolfenstein, Console-specific Rayman Legends…
Actually that's been the plan for a while now I just failed to mention it here before. I did type up a development document, track down freeware programs to make it and finished the concept art work. Then I spent the last four months doing nothing. I recently came to the conclusion that my idea, while interesting, was waaaay too ambitious a project for me to undertake right now. I hope to revisit the idea sometime in the future but for now it's very much in storage.
So why bring this…
