At this past year’s E3, Tecmo announced the Gears of War look-a-like Quantum Theory for the PS3. Well it now looks like the new original IP and the company’s first attempt at the third-person shooter genre will spawn on the Xbox 360 as well.
In Quantum Theory, players take on the role of the massive, gun-wielding warrior Syd and battle through “intense action sequences in an unpredictable, shape-shifting battlefield, aided by the mysterious acrobatic Filena.” In addition to single player campaign, the game also supports four modes of online multiplayer which one would suspect from a title of this nature.
Quantum Theory is expected to hit both platforms in Spring 2010. Check out a more detailed story description and listing of features after the jump.
STORY
Many years have passed since the world war inflicted catastrophic damage on the human race, leaving only a few survivors. In their new community “Cocoon,” life has been threatened by a black material called Erosion, creating a post-apocalyptic environment. Surviving humans recruit a militia to conquer the Erosion and set out to take down the evil, “Living Tower”. Arriving at the scene is the stalwart warrior Syd, whose only intentions are to destroy the Tower. He meets the beautiful and mysterious Filena as they both ascend to the top in their search for answers. The erosion of the Tower intensifies as the players climb up through the moving landform.
KEY FEATURES
• Shape-Shifting Battlefield: Navigate through a dark fantasy world where the intense battleground surprises you with new and challenging obstacles by changing its form in real-time
• Two-Character Combination Actions: Syd and Filena, an AI-controlled partner, perform actions as a pair—in some instances, that is the only way to overcome hurdles. Strategically perform combos for a more powerful, fierce attack against colossal enemies
• Online Play: Continue your adventure with others in four online modes
• Distinctive Art Nouveau Style Environment: Radiant colors and the mixture of organic elements complements both action and technology
is there a source for that 360 comment. so far all the news i saw about it never gave a source. Game looks very interesting anyways I just want a solid source on why everyone is 360 confirmed.
I’ve been watching this game and it looks pretty action packed. They just need to nail the gears formula or even better to improve on it, and should be a good game. The length and online modes will state whether it’ll be a purchase or a rental but if you do a good clone of an already good game, then that can never be bad right.
It doesn’t even matter. i don’t know if it sucks yet but i do know that is just the next (cheap?) gears clone without multiplayer and i doubt that it will as good as the original. But as far as ps3 goes it’s still a good thing because there aren’t many TPS on that system plus TECMO Games mean usually fun. (except nba unrivaled but thats another story
