Sony Corporation has finally named its new baby – you know, the one with the glowing ball on its head. The name was announced at GDC today, as were some other details. In case you couldn’t figure it out from the title, the new Sony motion controller is called the PlayStation Move.
The PlayStation Move (or the P-Mo, for those of you in the know) will be released later this year in one of three configurations: as a stand-alone purchase for those that already own the PlayStation Eye (which the device requires in order to work), bundled with the PS Eye (for those with a PS3 but no Eye), and as a complete bundle with the PS3 system, the Eye, and the P-Mo. Each configuration will include one PlayStation Move controller.
Also being previewed at GDC are some games that will feature support for the P-Mo, including Little Big Planet, Sports Champions, and SOCOM 4. Also set to feature support for the Move, as reported yesterday, is EA Sports’ Tiger Woods PGA Tour® 11.
No date or price was given for the new motion controller, but it is said that Sony intends to bring the release price in at under a hundred dollars. Click here to watch the entire press conference from Sony about the PlayStation Move.

That controller looks absolutely awful
It Awful ok, but I saw the live feed in display and I must say Nintendo’s Motion-Plus met their match. BTW Natal without a controller still makes it kinda shady, not that will fail but this seems a more cheaper tech compared to Natal. I got already the Camera so I have one half of the tech for it.
I would rather have nothing in my hand (Natal) than have what resembles something like a lady’s Pleasure toy from Dirty Teddys’s Adult Shop.
My God ! this is for family entertainment ! waving & Flapping arould like a retard in your front room with a Dildo shaped object with what looks like Z’s (Pulp Fiction) Ball from his Gimp outfit attached to the end of it ….
Sony have realy lot there way with this …. Thank be to God Microsoft are developing something a bit more pratical.
I can’t wait to play video games with 2 sticks with giant pink and yellow balls on top, wearing my 3d glasses and jumping like a freaking monkey all over my living room!!!!! FTW!!!!!!
[...] all bad news though. The PlayStation 3 version of the title will now support the recently announced PlayStation Move giving the Wii a little competition in the motion-control department. Both the Wiimote and Move [...]
I was hoping for 2 analog sticks so I could play ANY existing game and every upcoming game with this thing.. But it’s gonna turn out to be a new Wii. That’s for sure.
This is how it should look like.

I’m actually exited about it, but the games that this tech is going to be applied to don’t really interest me.
I’ll wait for some new original IP’s to use this and then I’ll make up my mind.
It’s too early to judge this as “anything”, so I’ll give it a chance before I throw conclusions at it.
Cheers axe heads
i have to admit that while the games they showed really doesn’t apperal to me i think this’ll trump Natal.
@alunfennell – so you think Natal is the solution to “waving & Flapping arould like a retard”? Did you even watch the demo? check out the SOCOM demo, the dude’s hardly moving. knob-end.
again, SOCOM, doesn’t appeal either, but they’ve said it’s easily implimentable to any game and makes hardly any demands on the processors.
and yes maybe it does look like a dildo, however there is nothing wrong with dildos. if Move is a mastabatory aid, then Natal is a peados playground.
i love ps3 but come on dont steel wii idea get your own idea playstation you are going 2 get burn with this stupid idea playstation -_-
[...] us for the PlayStation Move? Really? So unless you are living in a paper bag, you already know that Sony finally gave a name to its new motion controller this past week. Its called the PlayStation Move. Really? We heard talk that the name was a last [...]
