Army of Two DLC Releases Early on 360

EA has sent word that the Army of Two: The 40th Day “Chapters of Deceit” DLC, originally slated for an April 1, 2010 release on the 360 and PS3, has launched early on the Xbox 360 and is now available via Xbox Live. The content is still slated to launch on April 1 via PSN.

For those that missed the original announcement, Chapters of Deceit puts players back amidst the disaster in Shanghai where they will stumble upon new information that could help end the invasion by Jonah and his 40th Day Initiative army. However, they quickly learn that everyone is out for themselves and no one can be trusted. The lives of this iconic two-man private military team are at risk, forcing players to rely on each other to get out alive.

Chapters of Deceit will run ya $9.99 or 800 Microsoft points.

"Deceitful" Army of Two: The 40th Day DLC Announced

EA announced today that brand new Army of Two: The 40th Day DLC is on its way to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The new content is entitled “Chapters of Deceit” and comes complete with two new campaign maps set in Shanghai where, “players stumble upon information that could lead to ending the invasion by Jonah and his 40th Day Imitative army.” The DLC will arrive April 1 (no joke) and will run PS3 owners $9.99 and 360 owners a paltry 800 Microsoft Points.

Prepare the second wave and loose the beserkers, its time for another edition of EpicBattleCry! In this week’s Skirmish we try not laugh as Splinter Cell: Conviction is delayed again, contemplate non-HD streaming from Netflix on the Wii, revel around the rumor of a Tecmo Super Bowl remake, make the most of the news that Star Wars: The Old Republic is looking at a spring 2011 release window, and discuss the news that a new Zelda is on the way.

With our skepticism, facetiousness, and loathing of Project Natal firmly on the record we change gears this week. Since Microsoft has, thus far, failed to demonstrate how Natal could be not only workable, but even desirable as a controller for traditional games, we discuss some uses suggested by several forum members that may actually have merit for gamers.

Then, we take a look at some recent EBA Poll results and find out what gamers think about the recently released Army of Two: The 40th Day as well as the news that Splinter Cell: Conviction has been delayed once more.

Army of Two: The 40th Day Demo Coming Soon

Those of you that are anxious to give EA’s second run at the Army of Two franchise a go won’t have to wait too much longer as word has hit the net today that a demo for Army of Two: The 40th Day will be released on both PS3 and 360 this Thursday, December 17.

The demo delivers the series hallmark co-op play both online and off while granting access to most of the game’s first level.

A demo for the game’s PSP counterpart will also be released on January 7 in North America and on January 14 in Europe. Army of Two: The 40th Day is slated for a multi-platform release this January. For more, hit up the game’s official website.

Army of TWO: The 40th Day Composer Announced

EA Montreal today announced that renowned film composer Tyler Bates will be creating the score for the upcoming third person co-op shooter Army of TWO: The 40th Day. The sought-after composer, best known for his work on the blockbuster films 300 and Watchmen, is said to be crafting an immersive score that will “highlight the epic co-operative battles gamers and their friends will face in the first major videogame release of 2010.”

“Set in Shanghai in the middle of a major a disaster, ARMY OF TWO: The 40th Day dials up the action through a series of powerful scenes where players have to work together as a team to survive and escape the city,” said Lewis James, Audio Director at EA Montreal. “Tyler examined every part of the game and how players will move through the world to craft a score that truly represents their actions and the chaos unfolding around them.”

“The 40th Day is one of the most intense games I’ve seen,” said Tyler Bates. “The setting, characters and action in the game provided me the perfect backdrop to create an equally intense and dramatic score that compliments the gameplay.”

With more than 50 films and 15 years experience, Bates is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after composers. In addition to Watchmen and 300, he has scored hit films such as The Day the Earth Stood Still, Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Halloween 2, and Showtime’s hit comedy series “Californication”.

“Tyler Bates’ score for The 40th Day is not only a stellar addition to this tradition but takes the Army of TWO franchise to a whole new level,” said Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Marketing. “Most of all, our collaboration with a composer of his caliber furthers EA’s continued commitment to creating the most groundbreaking new soundtracks in the entertainment industry.”

Army of Two: The 40th Day Launch Details Announced

EA has sent over the details surrounding the launch of Army of Two: The 40th Day, which will ship on January 12, 2010 in North America and January 8, 2010 in Europe. Additionally, gamers who pre-order the title now will have exclusive access to the game’s all-new multi-player mode, ‘Extraction,’ at launch. This mode will be unlocked for all other players one month after the game ships.

Army of Two: The 40th Day features a redesigned multiplayer experience with four multiplayer modes including ‘Extraction’. ‘Extraction’ pits a team of four players against a series of unique enemy waves as they move from point to point in the ruined city. Players must strategize as a unified team to combat the different forces of the 40th Day Initiative while trying to get out alive.

Army of Two: The 40th Day will be available on the PS3, 360, and PSP.
