Gamers fond of the cinematic nature of the medium have probably heard of Monty Oum, the director and creator of the fan favorite Haloid video who became the stuff of legend a few years back by unleashing a self-created cinematic masterpiece of epic proportions. Well, for those that don’t know, Monty has moved on and is now working on his Dead Fantasy series of videos. The videos pit the girls from the many Final Fantasy games against the girls from the Dead or Alive series. The end result is one SWEET ass cat fight brawl.

Monty Oum has now released exclusively to Gametrailers.com his 3rd masterpiece in the Dead Fantasy series. This time around he casts FFVII’s Tifa lockheart to lock up against DoA’s Hitomi. With both characters being experts in hand to hand fighting, there’s of course plenty of up-close action to marvel at. So, will Tifa’s materia be able to have the deciding factor in this match or will Hitomi busty body be able to shake off Tifa?

Watch Dead Fantasy 3 after the jump and find out for yourself.

While scoping out Invisible Wall’s, Marcus Beer’s blog today, I came across the weirdest video that he found on Vimeo. The title for the video is simply named, “Video Games”.

The animation and direction of this video was done by a gamer calling himself , “Musclebeaver” (draw your own conclusions as to what his name means). The video takes all our favorite games from each generation and mashes them up into a creative illustration that is suppose to be the prologue to a video game documentary he is making.

The end result for this creation? One very professional, odd, twisted and somehow amusing video. Some of the classics of each generation are portrayed and I enjoyed seeing how the characters at the end of their sequences merged into the next characters sequence, giving you the sense of evolution.

He explains the documentary itself saying, “it portrays the evolution of games and follows different characters based in Germany, describing their everyday lives and their addiction to the same specific, famous “MMORPG’s” like the W one.”

Again, this is only the prologue to that documentary, so don’t expect an actual representation of a documentary in this video. No sense explaining too much about it…it’s just one of those things you gotta see for yourself and then draw your own conclusions. There’s a long pong battle sequence at the start, but bare with it. I promise there’s more to it, once it switches to the next sequence, just remember… I did say it was odd and twisted, enjoy.

Who said your life inside World of Warcraft wasn’t interesting enough to broadcast to the real world?

Introducing TweetCraft, developed by coding4fun Productions and in association with Channel 9, a new mod that finally delivers a way to twitter your virtual life to the rest of the world while inside the World of Warcraft. The mod works amazingly well with Twitter and the game, letting you sign in and out, post/read status updates, and even link in-game pictures and achievement straight to your twitter account from within the game world.

I’m already seeing a flood of achievements spam my twitter log from all sorts of people. Some of which I didn’t even know they played WoW. I wouldn’t be surprised if a big name celebrity will have the mod running soon and get some recognition as a WoW player. (Imagine Obama as an Orc Death Knight…)

There’s even a sweet video to showoff the mod.

To find out more about the TweetCraft mod and to download it for yourself, head on over to its official website.

Have you ever wondered what could be accomplished with loads of free time and the participation of 300 Fallout fans from Russia? Well, if you were to set up a little cos-play live action apocalyptic set and take some awesome pictures, you might end up with the following Fallout-themed event.

According to a recent article on Kotaku, “A workshop group called Albion organized the event, securing the setting and providing technical, medical, and rescue support. Around 300 players participated, creating their own costumes and modifying fake weapons until they looked as if you just plucked them from a freshly-killed raider’s hands. The game followed a basic plot, which the organizers would change on the fly according to how the players reacted.”

This group of fans went all out and produced some amazing images. To check out a collection of pictures taken at the event, hit up this website. Now, who’s gonna pull this sorta thing off for Elder Scrolls???

Blizzard Entertainment is known around the world for a lot of things…Creating World of Warcraft, introducing the awesomeness of Diablo, and setting the RTS world on fire with StarCraft just to name a few…but, beyond its core franchises, Blizzard is also known to have some of the best artists and creative team members in the business.

In fact, the art and work that comes from Blizzard has influenced countless artists and people around the world, particularly in the case of WOW, and The Laguna Art Museum in Cali wants to showcase some of the best pieces for your viewing pleasure this summer.

From the Museum’s official website:

This summer, Laguna Art Museum and Blizzard Entertainment are proud to present WoW: Emergent Media Phenomenon. This exhibit features art created by professional artists from around the world who have been influenced by World of Warcraft, as well as works generated by Blizzard Entertainment and by members of our community.

The goal of this exhibit is to illustrate the impact that World of Warcraft has had on our modern art culture and to give insight into the creative community it has gathered. The exhibit is currently open and will be running through October 4, 2009.

All programmed events are FREE with purchase of a commemorative Lvl 60, Lvl 70, or Lvl 80 WoW Pass!

There will also be a silent auction featuring works from renowned Blizzard artists running until October 4.

Awesome…I only wish I lived closer to California to experience the Exhibit for myself…

For more info, hit up the event’s official website.

I came across an article posted by Mike Smith over at yahoo’s “Plugged in” blog, which makes for an interesting read and conversation. The blog post dives into questions and problems that we here at EBA have debated and tried to understand in the past.

In the post, Mike talks about key problems in the industry, like the high price of games and the low quality of games we often receive…at the same price as the great ones nonetheless. Specifically, with most games at retail being released at 60 bucks, a game that can be completed in under 4 hours isn’t really acceptable. Mike points out the difference on how “we are paying 15 bucks per hour for games that don’t have multiplayer and unlockable content, compared to games that do include these features, which give the game near-limitless replay value.”

He also talks about how we are just now receiving the full experience that Nintendo promised us with the Nintendo Wii. Wii Motion plus is just being released, giving us all the abilities that we had hoped for the Wii, and perhaps even THOUGHT we had when it was first released. Oh and wait, we now have to shell out 20-25 bucks more for that promise..? Sounds kinda shady to me.

Mike then talks about the PSP GO and of course, it’s high price point for the (cheaper to make than the last generation PSP) handheld. When you sit back and think about dropping 80 dollars more down for the new PSP compared to the old PSP, it’s hard for anyone to swallow. It only hurts more for those of us that just recently bought a PSP and now hear that a newer and better PSP is coming and is more expensive.

One of the biggest problems in the industry and possibly the biggest rip-off of them all is the Gamestop style game trade industry. How many times have you walked in with 5 or more classic games that you loved and bought for 40-60 bucks when it was released and now you are only receiving a measly 10-20 bucks for those 5 games? Oh, and then you have to shell out the extra money, if you want to buy that new 60 dollar game… This is why I don’t trade-in games. I would rather let my game rot away in a box locked up in a closet, than to trade it in for 2 bucks. I would be insulting myself if I went and traded in a game for that amount.

The last topic in Mike’s list is the Nintendo fiasco, on how Nintendo likes to do business in Europe. On how Nintendo “entered into export-forbidding agreements with seven distributors which enabled it to maintain price differences of up to 67% between different European countries.”

With money on everybody’s mind now a days and things heating up in the industry, we can only expect more rip-offs to surface in the near future and our pockets to become smaller with time. Of course, this is just my personal opinion, but I welcome you to share yours with us and everyone here on the site inside the EBA forums.

Let’s face it, video game characters are usually portrayed in a larger than life situation and as a result, we tend to forget that some of them may have had an average, everyday life like you and I at some point.

Well, the boys over at PwnorDie, “love the idea of video game characters being everyday people” and of course, so do we.

With a little bit of Cosplay and some Photoshop work, you can see how Master Chief spent his High School Years and various awkward moments in his life before becoming a gaming legend.

Each week Gizmodo asks it’s readers to design images using Photoshop.

This week they asked their readers “to create some video games that may have existed if game consoles had been around for hundreds of years”.

Most of the entries were very well done and worth taking a look at although I was less amused by all of the repetitive Guitar Hero renditions. I did enjoy all the Call of Duty ones though;)

It’s pretty fun and entertaining, so click the source link bellow to check out the entries at Gizmodo when you have a few.
